Naw, I don't think you need to have someone else install in your Nissan. If you get the wire harness and adapters, it's not too bad. I did my own install, and have never even tried to do any before. You just need detailed info on what to do. Here are some links to help you:

I have installed a D3, Bluetooth and rearview camera on my 07 Altima. The F series uses the same harness as the D3, so it shouldn't be much harder. Just make sure to take your time doing things right.
Thanks for the links. They will be very helpful if I do end up doing it myself. Appreciate it.

After seeing all of your posts, I believe I will probably pay someone to install it rather than doing it myself. Thank you for all of your help and info.

Hah, I'm in the East Valley bud. I don't know if you could pay me enough to install this thing again though. What kind of car and is it double-din opening?
It is a 08 Nissan Altima. Not double din. I don't have a unit yet. I am still thinking about the AVIC F series or a Kenwood DNX5120. I keep hoping for the Pioneer second update to sway me.

I was hoping to get some advice on how easy these units are to install. I plan on buying from a dealer that offers some support like Crutchfield or SonicElectronix. I was thinking of doing it myself so I can bypass the brake.
I am pretty handy, but the last time I was under a car dashboard was to install a 4-track player...yeah, I know...old jokes expected and tolerated! Maybe something between...stop you dope, pay the money and have someone install it and figure out the brake bypass later to go ahead you will have fun!
On a side note, is it inappropriate to ask if anyone on the forum is in the East Phoenix metro area that would be interested in doing the install?
Thanks, Don

I was wondering if you can control an Ipod through usb or do you have to purchase the optional cable. I am only interested in listening to music, don't care about watching video.
tks, don

Do you have to have the optional ipod cable to control the ipod or can you control it through the usb port. I don't really care about the ipod video, just audio.
Tks, Don

The MSN service seems to work better in some cities than others. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it in the Phoenix Metro area.

I have been struggling with whether to buy a Pioneer F series unit or one of the Kenwood DNX units. I really like the feature set of the Pioneer, voice command, MSN, etc. But after reading some of your posts, the Pioneer seems to have a lot of problems only some of which are fixed by the update. If some of you wouldn't mind giving a newbee a hand?
How do you upgrade maps. Nothing on Pioneer or Teleatlas site
Is there supposed to be a second update? Does anyone know what it will fix?
I have a Blackberry Pearl...does anyone have any bluetooth experience with the Pioneer and this phone?
How long does it take to boot really...how long till you get radio vs. when do you get Nav
The things that are really important to me are voice command, Ipod connectivity and bluetooth, any thoughts on how these work?
Thanks in advance...oh by the way...what the hell are the green boxes that are driving so many of you crazy?
Thanks, dontat
MSN Service in Phoenix area

Thanks. I always have to worry about things like MSN and GPS. Here in Gilbert, everything is so new it seems like most devices like these haven't been updated. A support guy at Pioneer looked up my address and said the gps had it so that is something. With MSN working too, sounds like a double win.
