    I have a new hard drive with a new image that I would like to install in my AVIC. Once I have this hard drive installed how do I test the unit without having to put it in the vehicle yet? I figured I could hook it up to a battery charger to allow the unit to turn on and see if the hard drive boots up and the dvd player and other things work properly. Does that sound right? If so, which wires do I connect to the charger? If not....please advise!! Thanks!!

    I have an AVIC Z1 with an upgraded Z3 hard drive installed. I bought this unit used off of Ebay and I installed it this past August or September. As soon as I got the unit installed I checked everything out and it all seemed to work with the exception of the DVD/CD drive. I placed a commercial DVD (not a burnt DVD) in the unit and it immediately read "unreadable disc". I tried to eject the disk and it made noises like it was going to eject the disk but never has. I recently dropped the unit off at a local electronics shop but they couldn't figure out the problem. I'm looking for any sugg

    Hello....I'm installing an AVIC Z1 which I bought used. The unit didn't come with the speed sensor and reverse sensor wiring. Should I buy these directly from Pioneer or someone on Ebay if I can find them.....or can I just make them myself? Can someone tell me what gauge these wires are and what amp fuse is located in the reverse wire if I can just make them myself? Thanks, Justin

    I'm looking to purchase an AVIC Z1 unit for a much reduced rate than a Z2 or Z3 and then buy a hard disk that has the updated Z3 software on in to install in the Z1 frame? Does anyone know if this can be done? If so, will I essentially end up with the same off the shelf product as a Z3? The reason I'm asking is becuase if I can do it this way I figured I will end up saving over a grand in product cost off the bat. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!!! --Justin
