  1. I don't know where you're located but my N4 displays traffic flow via colored bubbles with traffic speed information and other signage along all highways.
  2. Hahah... I guess that provides some sense of relief
  3. XM NavTraffic rocks! It's amazing how quickly traffic information gets updated on the map.
  4. I'm sure there are a few good apples in the bushel... but the experience has been like this in Southern California. Every Best Buy store I've been to - Cerritos, Lakewood, Torrance, West LA, Culver City, Glendale, Hollywood, Westwood - there hasn't been a single installer I've talked to who actually inspired confidence about their skills and knowledge. Granted, maybe these stores just don't have the right people there... but I'm not talking about one or two stores... we're talking about EIGHT stores. Whether they have MECP certification doesn't mean much.
  5. Well, I installed a 700BT into a RAV4 using the PAC converter... and it sounds fine. So I don't know what the Best Buy dude is talking about. *Shrug*
  6. A friend of mine was trying to get a F90BT installed into his late model 4-Runner with the JBL system. He went to Best Buy (why, I don't know) to get the system installed. The installer told him that this combination would create "noise," using the PAC JBL system adapter. I think the Best Buy dude is saying a bunch of BS... true? untrue?
  7. Update... indeed, your suggestions solved the problem. Gracias!!
  8. Wondering... anyone have photos of mic placement for Bluetooth? I'm upgrading the turbo timer on my car and want to relocate the mic. It's currently sitting next to the existing turbo timer on my steering column cover but looking for a cleaner placement. Photos would be appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Well, is saving a couple hundred bucks worth not having a warranty at all? I don't think it's a ridiculous policy. Every major consumer goods company has the same warranty policy.
  10. They are NOT an authorized Pioneer dealer. Look here. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... e+Internet This is probably "trans-shipped" stuff, like most bargain basement stuff is on the Internet. The serial # is removed, giving you no warranty with Pioneer.
  11. Alright... I text'd my sis the instructions. Hopefully, this will solve the problem. Thanks, folks!
  12. So I installed the 700BT and hooked up the iPOD cable (RCA) in the process. Plugged into the USB cable as well. My sister says that the song titles and all that show up on screen but there's no sound. I made sure to tape the RCA cables together so that they don't fall out. I know the system is working as it plays the radio and CDs just fine. Any clues as to why it's doing this?
  13. Yeah, just realized that while putting the wiring together.
  14. Alas, if you can't give me a substantive answer, don't bother.
  15. For the longest time, I held off doing it but want to solve the problem now. Here's the situation: I have an 06 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR. I used a harness to make things easier. Hooked up all the wires with corresponding ones on the headunit harness. Everything works fine. Matched up the orange w/ white wire for illumination with the orange w/ white wire on the harness. When I turn on the lights, however, it does not switch to night mode. There are three other wires - orange, blue and brown. Would any of these other wires be the appropriate match for the orange / white wire off the h
  16. My sister and brother in law sent a AVIC-F900BT for my birthday, but I can't use it cuz my car doesn't accommodate double DIN and I already have the AVIC-N4, which I am quite happy with. Considering this, I want to sell the F900BT but not quite sure what to ask for it. I've seen em online for about $700 to $750, but I heard these are gray market units without Pioneer warranty. What would be a reasonable price I can sell for? Obviously, the unit is brand new and never used.
  17. Gotcha. I think she could live without em. I have no idea where the VSS wire is located and I don't want to bother with finding it. Thanks
  18. Oh, one more thing... does executing the parking brake by-pass void the warranty?
  19. Is there a huge difference? I haven't hooked up either in my car with the N4 and it still seems pretty darn accurate. I'm about to install a AVIC-F700BT in my sister's RAV4 and wondering if it's the same case.
