If you have gen 6 this is the link for down grade firmware.

In there stated if gen 5 then work as is.(No need to down grade)
I am thinking to get Ipod and I already have Ipod interface for D3.
I searched one hour but still confused.
With Ipod interface.
Ipod video (5th and 5.5 gen): Can control and play audio and video.
Ipod classic: Can control and play audio and video if you down grade firmware.
Ipod Nano up to 2nd gen: Can play video but not control from D3.
ALL Ipod Video, Classic, Touch and Nano: Can control and play audio.
With RCA input:
ALL video/audio player with RCA out can play audio and video but D3 cannot control.
1.Using updated PRG with east coast disk.(Couple east cost friends asked this)
2.There is a report that we can't use old east disk once updated with new west disk.
Thanks,

Hi Gnat,
If you can combine old PRG and new map to create disk for avic-9dvd, can I expand your theory and use new west disk PGM and old east map to create new PGM east disk for D3?
If yes, which DVI.dat I should use?
Thanks,
HT2
Try to verify your disk against avic80 file.
If fail set 1x and burn it again.
If verify pass then you have compatibility issue.
If you burned avic-70 backup successfully, use that burning soft and burner combination.
Hit or Miss but general idea to increase compatibility.
1.Use newer burner.
2.Update to latest burner firmware and burning soft.
3.Set book type to DVD-ROM(default for most of supported newer burner)
4.Use +R disk.
I used Sony burner become Optiak burner after firmware update, latest ImgBurn and Memorex dvd+r dl and successfully backed up avic-70 two month ag
Thank you inkfinkc and allsound.
Mine is also update the D3.
I had "can not burn over 300MB with trial version" error in magic ISO.
But Magic ISO has decompress UFI option so I can convert to ISO and used ImageBurn to burn it.
Seems working.
