  1. Well, in order for VC to work you must chose English (US) as program language . I reckon it sets a flag somewhere when English(US) is chosen ... Is it possible for someone with the US version to share the files (only program stuff , not the maps ) via ftp or rapidshare or whatever ?
  2. the instruction has a ; so it is not processed (; means REM )
  3. I think it must be possible to just back up a EU unit and restore it in a US unit . It's only a windows program That way we can sell our expensive EU units and get some cheap US ones
  4. I see in the firmware update that there's a winCE bin file So maybe we first need to upgrade the windows core another thing : in europe we pay 999 euro for the F700BT , that's $ 1400 Amazon.com sells it for less than $700
  5. when I press the multifunction button whilst in FM mode it does a seek to the next radiostation . In all other apps it beeps
  6. In the DATA directory is a file named VCInfo.dat can someone with a US unit and working voice control please open this in notepad and see what the text you get says ? Mine says LPEW1-1-C This contains EW , the indication we're dealing with an european unit I think
  7. I came across this : \My Flash Disk\APL2\IA\ my european unit hasn't got the IA directory , do the US units have this ?
  8. in the APL2 folder I only have iGo and VBT folders
  9. I did some reading The US manual says you have to put the unit in English (US) program language in order for voice control to work . The european units contain all european languages (dutch , german , french , ....) and english (UK) and its little appendix down under (English AU) So I reckon if we somehow put English (US) on it it might just work ...
  10. I've been thinking about it too , whilst editing the graphics I stumbled upon the VC icons , so I assume the software is in there , it's has probably something to do with a stiing in one of the .res files
  11. I have the F700 , the art with the iPhone 3G is horrible , the art with a nano 1st gen is perfect . Apparantly the latest generation of apple products behaves differently
  12. I'm working on an amber theme fo the AV part (see pics)

    colors

yep I did , but meanwhile I found the problem : my photoshop had the wrong dpi settings (72 instead of 96) Now my icons are amber (my car is a peugeot with amber dashboardlights) but the text is still white . I reckon it's in one of those PND files .... I wish they (pioneer or NNG) make an editor or extra color schemes or something

Is there any way I can change the colors of the ipod, FM radio , .. screens ? Where are those configured ? I can only see config files for the igo part
  18. 3 posts above yours are the steps I took . Does your tomtom work correctly on your smartphone or PDA ? Are the maps activated ? (see tomtom manual)
  19. the map folder is on the root of the sd card (\Benelux in my case)
  20. (I use the F700BT) I copied the tomtom 6 Program Files from my HTC PDA to the the SD card , in the testmode directory Then I renamed copytool.exe to copytool.old Then I renamed the tomtom exe to copytool.exe Then I copied the western_europe map directory to the root of the SD card The F700BT boots from the SD , and opens copytool.exe . I got a functioning TomTom Navigator on my F700BT (only tomtom , no radio , cd , .. ) Now I have to figure out how the menu loads the stock navigation application so I can replace it on the F700BT
  21. I see in the update files that the .res files are 7z archives. You can open them in winrar or winzip inside the archives there are parameter files (.pnd files) , which you can edit in a text editor Maybe someone understands this and can find a way to leave the message out (or install tomtom instead )
