if you download the manual and look at page 24, it tells you that "connected services require downloading the AvicSync app (subscription required)" and elsewhere I read that "a subscription is required after the trial period". Toyota was initially going to charge for their services after 1 or 3 years, I forget which.. but I think they changed it to free.

I had a similar issue but it was because I didn't perform a factory reset before I started using the unit. Once I used a paperclip on the reset button all my weirdness went away.

Did you wind up receiving yours? I just tracked mine because I hadn't received any updates and the last scan shows it was in Jacksonville, FL 2 days ago is now "Delayed due to severe weather" with no expected delivery date. UPS can't tell me where the package is or when I can expect it. Gotta love it.

What I read was that we get one free map update if one is issued within the first 90 days of use, I'm assuming that's highly unlikely if we're one of the first adopters. -Keith

Not at all.. I got a quote for $129 for a three year warranty from Squaretrade, two years more than Pioneer's and I still saved a little over $300.

Don't forget we'll have to pay for the connected services too, I hope they don't make them too costly. My Toyota came with them for free but the interface sucked!!

Yep! Liza is the one who told me it would be shipped by the end of the week, UPS says it will arrive tomorrow. I'm going to buy a Squaretrade warranty for it since the Pioneer warranty is void from this reselller.

I bought mine last week for $980 from Amazon (fulfilled by CrawfordSuperStore), my order sat for 4 days not getting shipped and the price jumped up to $1050, then the unit disappeared altogether from their store... they just finally shipped it last night... supposedly it'll arrive Friday.. Does the NEX 8000 have the same harness as the Z150BH? I ordered the unit, just waiting for it to arrive.. trying to figure out whether I need to buy another harness adapter or if I can just re-use the harness from the Z150BH

I've had this happen on my unit sometimes and it's always been because the radio station had problems and wasn't transmitting it. We had a hurricane a few years ago and they stopped transmitting traffic data for 3 months. Do you see any stations showing up in the provider list? I actually have a clearchannel contact for support who has been able to verify with the local station when they have problems. If you need it PM me...

Good to know, thanks... As far as I'm aware you can't turn the screen off to use App Radio due to how the screen mirroring for app radio works. I'm hoping that CarPlay doesn't require the screen to remain on.. it's annoying..

As some of us know, when using the iPhone 5 with the Z150BH in app-mode the phone discharges with the screen on rather than charges... Does anyone know if the same holds true on the 8000NEX? I'm hoping they're supplying more current this time around to satisfy the power needs.. -Keith

Hey VBlue, any idea which vendor has working extension cables for our purposes? I never did get one which worked, and since I'm going to take my unit out and replace it with the 8000NEX next week, I figure I might as well take another stab and getting rid of that mess.

Anyone know if the harness is the same for the z150 and NEX 8000?

I do have an iPhone but the AppMode experience sucks with it... I'm wondering if the reason why some developers dropped AppMode support was to develop CarPlay support instead... I'm wondering if CarPlay will be easier to use than AppMode... AppMode requires too much interaction with the phone and if you ask me is more likely to cause an accident.. I guess we won't know until the Carplay Firmware update is out..

I just bought the Z150BH last year and I HATE how app radio mode works... Car play seems to be the answer... I'm considering selling it and getting the NEX8000... I just wish it had a flip screen since the placement is awkward in my prius. Has anyone here upgraded from the last generation and found it worth it?

Just an update... Every day if I reran the screen calibration routine I could use the radio again for a little while before it would stop responding again. Every time I reran the calibration it bought me a few hours. Starting yesterday the screen is responsive once again, but not as responsive as it used to be... It still takes a few taps but it's working. What a weird problem... No one else has seen this before? Btw, word of warning though I'm sure it's been mentioned before... I had a strange problem this morning that I've never had before, the touch screen on my Z150BH wouldn't respond to touch. It did respond to button presses but nothing on the screen. When I was stopped at a light I stopped my car for a few seconds and restarted it to see if a reboot would help; It didn't. For the hell of it I started tapping the screen over and over and noticed that maybe 1 out of every 6 taps it would register and respond... I tried this method tapping on various buttons on the screen and it worked enough for me to at least turn XM on and change presets, etc.. I stopped at a s

I have a Galaxy S3 sitting around that I decided to try using for a few days to see if I like it better than the iPhone 5, I really like the larger screen. Anyway, I wasn't getting any meta data on my Z150BH playing regular music or in Spotify over bluetooh. I have tried it and paid for addons and it's the biggest piece of crap, it has never worked for me and always crashes. Spotify crashes the second I try to select a play list or song... How did you manage to get it to stop crashing?

Hey Blue, I just went to use iGo Primo today to set it up for a trip I'm taking tomorrow and noticed I no longer have AppMode in it and it's now a $35 add on! Did you happen to recall when this changed? -Keith
