If you look at Diaftia's mod, he has the ability to launch executables from iGo under Settings->Navi->Run (I have mine launching explorer.exe, for example). Testmode 2.3 includes a "restart" app that would let you soft-reset the unit, you could probably modify Diaftia's mod to launch "restart" from that screen (you'd have to copy "restart" to somewhere on "\My Flash Disk" so it's available if you don't have the Testmode SD card in).

I had this happen to me yesterday, and I was flipping out for the same reason.

If you hooked your iPod up to the computer just prior to this happening, you should reconnect it to the computer, and PROPERLY EJECT it. This fixed my problem.

This is different problem than mine, as I get my iPod to work again just restarting AVIC, no need to do anything with iPod. Its just annoying because AVIC boot time is slow, I've already driven one km from home when I recognize that iPod connection is not working and I should stop and shut down whole car to make it work again

I have EU version of Avic F-900 which has strange problem, that sometimes it doesn't start properly: when audio starts during bootup there's random interferences in speakers,v like AVIC were taking interference from some other electric device and touch screen is completely unresponsible, only harware buttons work. After I power off avic and power it back, unit starts up properly. I'm currently using V3 software with IDT Mod, these problems have been present with unmodded V3 too, unfortunately I dont remember if they were present with V2. Has anyone else this problem?

Thanks for your suggestion, I've already tried couple of times to hard reset my iPod but it didnt help. When AVIC interface language is changed, avic asks if its ok to reboot and if clicked "yes", it reboots without losing audio settings, so it should be somehow possible

I have small problem with my AVIC-F900 and IPod; sometimes when I start my car Avic doesn't recognize my IPod, unplugging and reconnecting IPod doesn't help at all, so problem is not in loose connection, only way to fix this is restart AVIC. As there's no power button in AVIC, only ways to restart it is turn car on and off (not very useful) or press reset button in front panel with stylus, which clears all audio settings in AVIC (not useful too). Is it possible to programmatically restart AVIC without losing settings, or is only way to do this to add switch between AVIC power line?

Hmm...I tested this yesterday and house numbers show in wrong sides of street (I'm using your mod V3.5 europe), is this bug in mod or are house numbers included in map, so this were error in map itself?

 

Also I have two other strange issues:

 

1. I'm living in Finland which is bilingual country (we have finnish and swedish as official languages). Somehow f.ex. most of streets near my home show in swedish, which is "secondary" language in Finland, although all regional settings are set to finnish/Finland. I installed same map that I have in my windows mobile-based phone (it has iGo 8.3 too), but problem still remains with Avic but iGo in my phone shows all street names in finnish. I'll have propably try to reset save-folder once if this might fix this problem.

 

2. When I installed unmodded version of Pioneer 3.0 update, it shows me one lane sign near my home (its on smaller street, not on highway), after installing your mod this sign doesn't show anymore. I've tried with two different map versions and this lane sign doesn't show but I haven't tested in highway yet, so I dont know if problem is only with this sign or are all signs missing. AFAIK signs should work by default with your mod, no need to enable them separately?

 

the the map is responsible for the house numbers, what i currently do with my EU release is i just switch the textmodels,

1) try deleting the contents of the saved folder and let me know if it works

2)the lane guidance is being covered by the signpost, everything is fixed on v4, next release will be up soon,

1) This problem is somehow related to system user interface language, when I change it to finnish, all street names show in finnish, when i switch to english, some street names show in swedish! This wasn't problem in iGo 8.0 when I used it with english language, I dont remember was this problem present with unmodded Igo 8.3, but I'm too lazy to test it, its not issue for me to use finnish interface

2) I drove longer distance yesterday and lane signs were shown as expected, so it seems to work too, I just dont understand why unmodded iGo show one sign near my home and modded version doesnt. Well, not a big issue.

Thanks IDT for your great mods, especially for euro versions, which surely cause you lot of extra work! I will soon send you some cash for all your hard work. Your mod is nearly perfect, there's only two things I'm missing from your mods (I can propably add these by myself too): house numbers and different type of arrow showing route when navigating.

when you boot in testmode, before copying these files to flash disk, delete old folder APL2\IGO completely from your flash disk. If you just copy new folder overwriting old files, there may be still some old files leftover, which causes these problems. I had corrupted speedcam.txt-file in my flash disk which caused this same error message, and it didn't go away although I copied original folder from SD, as speedcam.txt file wasn't included in original folder, therefore this corrupted file still existed after copying.

This problem is caused usually by nav part, so problem is most likely in APL2\IGO-folder. If you have clean installation files, try to delete this folder from your flash disk and then copy clean one to flash disk. If you just copy new folder it doesn't overwrite existing folders completely; if there's files in existing folder which aren't in folder being copied, those "extra" files are left to flash disk, which may cause problems. I found this by myself when I copied corrupted speedcam.txt-file to my flash disk; my avic stuck on "system startup in progress"-message, even when I copied original backup if APL\IGO-folder, it didnt fix the problem as this corrupted file was still present. Also try to delete files in user\userdata\igo-folder.

thanks for your mod, its very nice and I will definitely stick with it when bugs are fixed. Bugs I've found so far:

1. I cant see sky in 3d mode and cant tilt screen enough to see it, could you post content of your sys.txt, I think we need also image file that you're using as sky background (or is it included in data.zip?).

2. I cant get current speed show clicking on upper part of screen, this is possible caused by previous bug (because sky isn't visible).

3. When I set bottom info screens at left corner that lower part shows distance to destination, distance and measurement unit overlaps, f.ex. when there's 2.5km left to destination, numbers "5" and letter "k" are on top of each other.

4. So far I haven't get trip computer to work at all, all values show zeros.

5. Button where you toggle between 3d and 2dmodes shows current view mode that's in use, in my opinion it would be more logical to show "next view", not current view.

Hmm...only difference between your code and PPCWarez-code is that inside SPRITE-tag you have set variable phasemodel="navigation.current_speed_limit" but that variable is completely missing in PPCwarez example, could that be the problem?

It looks like that with iGo 8.3 you have to use different code for displaying f.ex. speed limit signs. I tried to google with variable name "navigation.current_speed_limit" thats used when displaying speed limit signs and find this code example in other forum: http://forum.ppcwarez.org/viewtopic.php?p=417615#417615

in 2.0 mods code was:

in ppcwarez-forum code was:

textmodel_wstr="navigation.current_speed_limit.number_text"

So that's propably first change that should be done when converting speed limit sign codes to v3. I'm too busy to test this myself before weekend, but feel free to try it

I got confirmation from Pioneer that TMC doesn't work in Finland, as it has to be licensed from service provider (Destia) and Pioneer hasn't licensed it yet, maybe in future. Also, Pioneer support told me that in Germany TMC service provider is using same encryption with TMC as in Finland, and GPS manufacturers have to buy license from service provider, do you know if its true? Therefore I might be able to hack TMC to work in Finland too. Process might be this simple:

1. Locate where TMC decryption key is saved in Avic system files

2. Copy key value from any other GPS system that has been licensed to work in Finland

I will start this project comparing 2.7 updates downloaded from German site and EU site, to check if there's any differences, of course its possible that TMC license file is not located in those updates. Jörg; have you upgraded your Avic to 3.0 version using APL2-folder located in ftp.turboss.com -site?

Hmm, this propably isn't problem as I haven't installed any mods yet after upgrading to v3, so sys.txt should have correct device info. I searched little bit forums and found out that for TMC to work, FM channel which is transmitting TMC signal should be saved to radio presets. I dont listen radio often, especially that channel that transmits TMC signal here in Finland so I haven't even saved it as radio presets. Gotta try this after leaving from work. Its strange that user manual doesn't mention that TMC channel should be saved to presets!

 

Almost all of the code for the quick menu is in navigatemap_800_480.ui and right near the top so you should be able to find it pretty easy. All of the images i have created are in data\ui_pioneer\800_480 and have a k_ in front of them.

 

Good luck modding and please post any cool changes you come up with. Oh and you should not have to decompress any of the images I used.

Unfortunately I'm having issues with TMC in my unit, so I'll have to revert back to OEM v2 software to make sure if problem is in software or hardware itself, in that case I can get it repaired as my Avic is still under warranty. I will continue with V3 software when TMC issue is solved.

This mod is really cool, especially quick menus! I'd like to use this as "template" when making my first mod, which will be european mod, therefore I can remove f.ex. MSN Direct functions from quick menus. I'm trying to locate code for quick menus in .ui-files using names of image files that keeper has used in quickmenus, but I cant find those images! F.ex. image that is used as drop-down-arrow. Also image used in menu 4 (MSN), I found one image which looks like that (746_32K_MN-794_32b.bmp) but cant find any reference to that file in any of .ui -files! What am I doing wrong?

Also I cant open lot of those .bmp-files with any of image viewing programs I tried, is it normal, are they actually images or something else?

Is your voice control still functioning after firmware update?

After update I had problem too that device kept resetting itself after couple of minutes, also I wasn't able to access map/navigation. This problem was caused by USB key(Kingston 16GB); if USB key is connected when device is started, it will keep resetting itself; if I first start device and then connect USB key, everything works perfectly.
