  1. I found this thread while looking for a fix for my AVIC700BT. It has done the same exact thing. Did you ever figure out your problem? I bought mine in Oct 2008. It had worked flawlessly. I only did the first software upgrade. Although, a few weeks ago the wife told me that her radio would just shut off for no reason. It had done it to me a couple times while driving it. It would simply shut off. The screen would lit but, it would fall back to the "OFF" display in the upper left corner. Touching it turned it back on. Then all of a sudden she told me it wouldn't come on when she
  2. Oh gee, WOW it finally does "some" of the things it was supposed to do. HD radio presets still don't display and I can't save the stations to preset. I still don't know how four of the six presets actually did preset (pre 2.0) since I read many complaints that others couldn't save presets. This was pre 2.0 update and still an issue. How in the hell can something so generic to a RADIO be missing???? PRESETS...what a cool idea! I cannot voice dial anyone or thing by name. I have the original iPhone (2g as everyone calls it). Never could before 2.0 and still can't. I can say "Cal
  3. In the appendix the recommended video resolution for AVI and MPEG-4 are: image size: VGA (640x480) Bit rate: 480 kbps Frame rate: 24 fps
  4. *BUMP* Just bumping the thread up since updating the original post with completed pics.
  5. WOW, rough crowd. Considering it's not intended to fit there (and kinda doesn't) you obviously did a good job of making it work. Unfortunately, appearance is a big factor with an install and you kinda wince when you look at this one.
  6. Well, as I figured I was over thinking this. Everything on the harness is color coded to match. After talking to the Metra Tech Support they told me that the yellow wire on their harness is the constant 12v line from the battery. Their wiring legend calls it out as "battery" as does the Pioneer harness with a tag that reads "battery". All are yellow just like the yellow power cord for the HD unit (yellow to yellow to yellow). After connecting everything it seems fine and no dead battery (yet).
  7. Well, according to Metra's tech support the blue wire on this particular model harness is for controlling a power atenna. It does supply power when the unit is turned on. Therefore he told me I could run their blue wire to the blue wire on the Pioneer harness and that should power my amplified antenna. There is a setting in the AVIC that allows you to determine if that is done when the key is turned or the unit/radio is powered on. I wired it this way and I haven't noticed any reception problems from the antenna. I did at the very first start-up of the HD unit get some weird fading and
  8. I just have a couple questions regarding installing a Pioneer HD Tuner. The wiring has some kind of inline module and a inline 2 amp fuse link. The instructions state this must be connected to a "constant" 12v supply terminal. Sorry to sound bumb but, where would I find this other than to run a line directly from the fuse box? What is the reason for needing a constant 12v supply? Also, do I need an antenna splitter if I'm not using MSN Direct? The instructions also state: If you use this unit with a navigation system that can receive traffic information from the built-in FM tuner
  9. Moonstreaker, I'm sure you mean "hook the blue wire to the red power lead" correct? In the Pioneer instructions regarding the blue wire it states: If he vehicle has a glass antenna, connect to the antenna booster power control termnal (max. 300 mA 12 V DC). Before my following comments I want to reiterate that I'm totally new to this stuff and I'm sure I'm over thinking it and making it more complicated than it is so, forgive my ignorant questions. The Metra harness has a blue wire too so, do I tie them together and connect them to the power lead or just one? If just one which on
  10. Has anyone ever used the Metra XSI-6522-NAV harness or the equivalent for their vehicle? The wiring of this install is the most itimidating part. I got this harness to help eliminate as much of the splicing as possible. Do you just solder up the corresponding wires and plug it in and go? Here are the installation instructions listed with the part: In the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles listed on the backthere are no 12 volt accessory wires in the factory radio harness making the installer run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an afterm
  11. Okay, I took the plunge today and bought a F700bt. I also picked up the iPod cable, HD radio tuner, Metra trim kit and harness. I've NEVER installed anything like this but, after looking around here I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm no pro but, I thought I'd do my best at posting a little install dialogue here on this particual vehicle to maybe help others learn from it (hopefully without mistakes). Here are some pics of the start of the install. This is what the radio trim area looks like. You have to start and the top corners and pull off the trim. The outter trim is par
  12. Is Metra Online the only place I could find a trim kit for my vehicle or are there others?
  13. I've been lurking here for a couple weeks and I've finally decided to take the plunge and pick up a F7000BT. I have to say there is probably too much information on this site. I've done some searches and have noted all the hacks, mods and whatever but, there are a few things I'm not real clear on. I'm going to do the install myself. I need a trim kit for my dash. I have a double din space and the F700 is the exact height as the stock radio but is narrower than stock. I need the spacers for the sides. I see Metra has them. Is there another source? Is the blue dot that is su
