  1. I'm confused on if my vss is working. If I go to the vehicle dynamics screen it will show my speed increase and decrease. If i go to the 3d calibration screen where it displays connection status, speed pulse, the distance works but the speed pulse stays 0, and the status say's "simple hybrid". Now if i read the book it says simple hybrid means it isnt hooked up to the vss. but if it isnt, why does my vehcile dynamic screen show my speed?? im confused!
  2. that worked. I set it to my current route only. much better, thank you
  3. thanks, seems like i tried that before and they didnt go away immediatley but i never turned the car off and back on before reverting back. I'll give it another try.
  4. I checked the book and can't find where to get rid of the white dot that is left on the map when you travel. Am I missing something? My maps roads look like pac man.
  5. i don't think all cc suck. just my local cc. :-)
  6. just a few days. I'm not one to get over stressed about the little things and am getting used to it now but it still seems a little over kill to say the least.
  7. does anyone know if theres a way to remove the disclaimer on the nav when you use it for the first time at startup? It's getting pretty annoying to hit "OK" everytime I start my car. I feel like im back in grammer school.
  8. I had my D2 installed today and it took circuit city 9 hours. After it was all done and I got home I found three screws on my floor board. I found where two went and the third I have no clue. To top that off they didnt put my dash back on correctly so I get to go back tomorrow AGAIN. Once I got done picking up their pieces and cussing out loud I started on the bypass. I took dash off (not the jacked up stearing dash I have to take it back over) and found the harness. I stole a black ground wire from an old harness, shoved it in to the empty pin on the D2 Harness, sliced the parking brake
  9. so you have to have the ignition on and the avic-d2 running while you do the ground.....correct.....i dont want to screw this up lol.
  10. mines being installed sunday. what did you use to fill in the gap on the xterra cntrylvr79?
  11. he may have an ipod. the bypass will allow nav features and a/v playback while driving. curious, but where did you get the spare wire from? I plan on doing the bypass next week. Also, did you ground to metal or did you get a wire "loop" thingy to ground with?
  12. I've been thinking long and hard about how I want to hook-up my IPod Video to my car. I went to the Local Macintosh store and saw the RoadShow hook-up you posted above. It is in deed a nice gadget but when it comes down to it, I think it will be much easier to buy the Pioneer interface box for my D2 and run a a/v separate. The Only problem is that the interface for the cd-ib100 is slow to change between artist, but i can't imagine running a 3 foot long ipod adapter to where I can reach it (and stay safe while driving) and it look descent.
  13. before I buy this I'd like to confirm it's what I need. Sorry to beat the horse but this cord---- Allows you to watch IPod Video (with or without the bypass) Allows you to listen to IPod Music (regardless of the bypass) Doesn't allow charging (whats the solution for this) If this is the case it's worth 50 bucks because no one else has it. I could care less about the IPod interface on my D2. Only thing is that I have a IPod 30gb Video. I'm not sure the cable will work.
  14. are the wires listed in the picture the same on all vehicles? I'm not hooking mine up so if I need to tell the installers to tag the parking brake wire I will. it will make it much easier on me to find when I do the bypass since they wont.

    bypass

I see so many post about the D2 bypass it confusing as crap. The D2 has a built in gyroscope so grounding the emergency brake wire on the D2 harness shouldn't work. I assume using a spare wire and grounding it to the open pin bypasses the gyroscope also? Is this the case? None the less, the gyroscope is needed in order for the NAV to properly function AND if you ground the parking brake wire you still have to disconnect the VSS wire so why even buy this unit? The whole point is for GPS so if it isn't going to be accurate why even buy it. Dont get me wrong, I want to the change my destination a
  16. yea... i think you have to have the RF system to have it at the harness. Looks like its more than likely located in the ECM. bummer....
  17. hate to be a newb but looking at my current harness I don't see a light blue wire for vss. probablly just me though. I'll see the CC guys will point it out when i go buy the install kit. it's 20 bucks.
  18. thanks termist, much appreciated. I think I can do this myself and save a hundred bucks :-) plug and play basically
  19. thanks for the information. I went CC and they are saying that even if I bypass the parking brake wire the d2 has a giroscope so it wont work. I told them that plently of people are doing this so I wasn't convinced. Either way, they said the parking brake wire also locks out video playback from an a/v input which sucks...is this true? If so bypassing the parking brake is more than worth it but im still confused on this whole giroscope suggestion?? If I ground the parking brake, do I have to ground the reverse wire? I dont really want to have to take my door panel off. The 400 D
  20. Hello, I posted an earlier post but now im in to the install part. I've posted some pics of my car without the cd player and took measurements. Im concered the d2 wont fit so id like some help from the gurus. I'm by no means a installer but it did only take me 10 minutes to remove the dash and take out my cd player....maybe i can do this after all (if it fits!!). I hope, i spent 450 dollars on the d2, im just waiting for it to arrive in the mail is why i cant check it yet....plus if it wont fit i m ight be able to get a refund before hand some im beating time here. Circuit city's website
  21. btw, whats the story on this vvs wire. is there a connector on a 2005 nissan xterra with out the rockford fosgate system i hear of in other post. ill make sure and point that out when i take it and have the unit installed.
  22. I bought a D2 today. I should get it Next week. When I bought the piece I thought it had dvd playback but I was wrong. None the less I have a few questions before I take my suv to have this installed. 1.) Knowing nothing about installing a unit, Can I use my existing dash kit for my pioneer cd player with this double din system? Currently I have a slot filled for cd's. I wonder if that piece can be detached and the D2 will fit? If so it will save me 30 bucks or more. Also, The D2 says irs 6.5 inches. If I measure from top to bottom of my existing unit space it appears as thought the D2 w
