  1. I used to write SOP's for a living and THAT has to be one of the nicest DIY's I've seen on forums. GREAT job. Now I'm gonna go find a g/f with an MX-5
  2. Did you have the same problem with the PAC? It'd be good to know if this is a common thing (even better if this turns out to be a good fix)... Good luck! (E46's FTW!)
  3. No suggestion is too dumb for me - that'll be the FIRST thing I check when I get a chance to pull out the AVIC!
  4. As a former owner of an '03 Dodge Ram Quad Cab, I can REALLY appreciate your work - nicely done!
  5. It's been mentioned, but I thought it'd be helpful to park here too for Windows users: Use WinRAR to view/change Zip files! When I first used WinZip to change things in Data.zip, things got screwy (blanked out top menu screen, non-responsive Menu button)... When I used WinRAR for the exact same mod, no problems... WinRAR's evaluation version can be downloaded from here for free: http://www.rarlab.com/ Despite some bugginess, fixing/optimizing the AVICs is def improving on the best a/v-comm/nav mobile unit out there - Happy modding! (And MANY thanks to those here that make it possi
  6. There are 8 files in the folder (DATA\Sound). The 40KB files to be deleted are: PSG1Hi PSG2Hi PSG1Low PSG2Low The other files (PSG3, PSG4, PSG5, VR) can be left alone. My experience: when I deleted these files, besides getting rid of the annoying key beeps, no adverse effects were noted and my steering wheel controls responded MUCH better (as noted previously by others)... Hope this helps!
  7. Yep - voice control is inop also now. Thanks for the link - I'll look into downgrading to 2.3 (if I can't get a known working mic to work on mine...)
  8. Thanks for the fast reply That makes sense since I can't for the life of me think what else it might be - thanks again. Any other ideas/experiences-shared welcomed...
  9. Hey All, I'm using a Blackberry Curve 8330 (Verizon) with my F90BT. Connections are fine, except callers can barely hear me although I can hear them just fine. I have the mic mounted in an OEM location for BT mic in my BMW (trim panel just above the rear view mirror). I thought at first it was the mic placement, but even after taking out the mic and speaking directly into it callers say my voice is extremely faint (even when speaking very loudly/strongly). So the mic is working, just not very well. Is there any way to increase the mic sensitivity? I tried searching here
  10. One main problem for me: When I hold down Vol Up or Vol Down even very briefly (more than just a tap), volume will go ALL the way up or down. If I just tap Vol Up or Vol Down, I can get the volume to change 1 unit at a time. Otherwise, Seek Up, Seek Down and Mute/Unmute all work fine... EDIT: Deleting key beep sound files MUCH improved volume control response!
  11. Well, Pioneer Customer Service hems and haws knowingly and told me to send the unit in to have it reflashed. I asked why I couldn't simply get the files and reflash it myself and he told be the files "aren't available to the customer"... Funny, the 2.0 update is available to the customer! Anyway, he claims 5-7 days turnaround. If anyone has the July update (1.17) to send, I'd really appreciate it, since I just want to back out of the update for now... Anyone have any further insights to this problem (2.0 install and constant reboots or errors)? It'd be good to know for down the road...
  12. OK - so I'm updating to FW 2.0 and everything is going fine - update progresses to the point I have to reset so I can go on to the Bluetooth part of the upgrade. On reboot and after the splash screen I get a Fatal Application Error "Application ezrider has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down..." Numerous attempts to reset (both with reset alone and reset with eject) always gets me to the exact same error message. Main menu screen stays stuck on the normal startup message after closing out the error message. Most functions (like listening to the radio) will work for a bit,
