  1. You know, I never was an audiophile until recently. I actually did convert the songs to 320k MP3's and the conversion totally squashed the highs and gave everything a muddy sound. I tried both Lame and the built in Windows Media codec and neither of them provided those crisp highs I got with the lossless conversion. The ID tags arent a deal breaker, but it sure would be nice to see them. Maybe when leet reverse engineers the software, he can work on it for me.
  2. I copied quite a few CD's over to lossless wav format and they all play and sound awesome. The F900BT shows no information for the songs, even though the ID tags are there. Any suggestions?
  3. I tried a USB mouse today, without any luck.
  4. I changed everything I wanted to via the 2.0 update data.zip and let the head unit work its magic with updating the unit to 2.0, while also adding a few mods.
  5. MSN is only available in very limited markets too. So unless you are in that market or have one close by, it is worthless. I am outside of Ocean City, MD... The closest MSN service is in Baltimore... Two and a half hours away. You would figure, with everyone that is using GPS, that MSN would be everywhere.
  6. What's the usually amount for a donation? Just curious... I was going to give him $25. I am sure any amount he will appreciate. He is taking his own time making our machine better than factory spec.
  7. I am going to donate for your hard work. I have a few requests for future updates though: Ability to show album covers along with the track information for non-ipod sources Any way to allow for custom icons for custom POI's? PC Software to allow UI modification Voice control of non-ipod sources? Thank you for all of the hard work!
  8. There are also other great settings in the sys.txt that allow you to change draw distance of 3D buildings and landmarks. I noticed this before I had the F900 with one of my other Igo units. I am going to do a bunch of searching through the files tomorrow to see what else I can find.
  9. What is that? A hearse? Very cool looking!
  10. Vista.... Windows XP 64 is a god send. If Vista wasnt such a resource hog, it would be somewhat decent. Glad you got it working!
  11. Yea, I did the same for my F900, at the same price nonetheless.
  12. If anyone is looking for general awesome boot pics, this site has the best free pics and they are pretty much all available in 800x480
  13. I am going to install my unit in my truck Monday. I will go through every scenario I can with different hard drives to see what works. Will probably post a video here when I find the best and easiest solution. I am a tech nut, so if it can be done, I will figure it out and make sure it is the most feasible and permanent solution... because I would hate having to power cycle and plug and unplug anything every time I got in the car.
  14. My guess is that the memory chips are hardwired into the board. It would take someone with rock solid hands to attempt the soldering. With that in mind, the entire operating system may be based around a set amount of RAM, so increasing it may not matter. The only way to know, would be to try or talk to a tech(Who worked on the units design). Not sure many people would be willing to brick their unit in order to "find out".
  15. Yes......Just wait though....the linups will be merging in a month or so.... Yea, I was just going to mention this. Just buy the XM receiver, they will be one in the same soon enough.
  16. I doubt it had anything to do with financials. A lot of companies are hurting right now, but they dont stop their R&D and Customer Service departments. It probably had more to do with figuring out how widespread the problems actually were and then getting their coders to search and find the issues in the software, not to mention fix them. Lets all be ecstatic that they actually cared enough about the customers and product to actually show some support and do so in a timely manner. Most companies, consumer complaints fall on deaf ears, no matter how widespread the issues are. Look how l
  17. Unless you are using a 1.8" laptop drive, you need a power inverter to plug your external drive in. It is the only way it will work.
  18. This is how I bought my new F900. I believe the buy it now price was $679, which gave me $170 cash back, making the unit $509!!! The kicker is, it included the Ipod cable!!! You just cant beat that price for the functionality of this unit, especially with the great community here working on making the unit even better!
  19. Is it worth installing? I have heard some complain that voice recognition isnt functioning properly and other problems, especially with some hacks. So what is the general consensus on installing it?
  20. I am not a coder, but I would imagine this would be an easy fix. The Icons are already there, I imagine it would be a matter of finding the overlay for the nav screen and throwing the icons up with links to each .exe file that controls the different functions(not sure if they are exe files or not). There are hacks here to change the nav icon over to a car, I imagine it would work the same way with any other icon, except they would be linked to each app for the functions you want. I wish I had stuck with programming over the years, because I would love to dig into it and do it myself. I am
  21. I think so too, but I dont see it happening with their stance on moving pictures while the car is in motion. I imagine we will see a mod here on these boards before anything else. If we could just get Media Player for CE up and running... The unit is extremely cool, I think that Pioneer needs to add a front end for PC's to allow more customization and maybe allow use of third party apps. hell, if they did that, they could charge developers to publish apps for their unit. I'd be up for paying for add-on, useful apps. Lets face it, this unit is a compact mobile PC and has far greater useful
  22. The ability to add user made skins via the PC/SD interface Custom Icons for user made POI's Visualizations for audio files Support for large(able to be filled) hard drives
