  1. What are the chances (slim i am sure) that it would be possible to hack the ipod display so that if you tap the now playing artists name or album name and it will go to that artist/album? This would be most handy when you are playing a playlist or shuffling all and you hear a artist and it makes you think of a song by them that you want to play. I would love to try, but i have no idea where to start with such an idea. Thoughts?
  2. so ski, does that mean if you have 3 numbers for one contact you can say bob johnson general/mobile or work? 'Cause hopefully it will eventually work with WM6.
  3. actually i solved that problem by exporting my contacts from outlook to excel, making duplicate rows for contacts with more than one number, and editing all the names to include what kind of number it is (H, M or W). Then i deleted all the unneeded fields (just left edited name and number) and then i added an ID and dword to match the actual database type the avic uses. I imported this into SQLight and saved it as a .db file to my avic. Now i just say: Call Bob Johnson H (for home) or Call Bob Johnson W (for work) etc. I am actually considering making a simple app to automate this so i
  4. any danger of damaging the ipod leaving it in the car (no garage) during cold winter nights? like 20's. This is probably a better question for an ipod forum :S i will check there recommended temperatures.
  5. Anyone know why there's the addition of "general" to any address book entries name when using voice dial? E.g. If i say "call Bob Johnson", the lady repeats "calling bob johnson. general." The reason i ask is that it would be cool if you could categorize your contacts. General, Work, Business, etc.
  6. What o/s is on your phone todx? Perhaps you could get something similar to jetware to help mediate the BT communication. You shouldnt have to, but it sure is worth looking into.
  7. What version of WM6 do you have? Is it 6.1 or 6.0? Have you tried Jetware? http://www.jetwaremobile.com/
  8. FYI I downgraded from 3.3 to 2.9 and my treo 750 works great. I may have lost the ability to use the address book transfer, but that doesnt matter since it never fully worked anyway and i much prefer using SQLight to make my own custom db file anyway. For those that want it back the way it was - check out version 2.9. E
  9. BTW BT version 2.9 works great! No complaints.
  10. See my post on: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 902#128902 for an update
  11. Ok, no guarantees here but... I emailed pioneer asking for the old BT firmware and they told me to talk to the parts department: Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc. If you want to install the older firmware you need to contact the Parts Dept. at:800-421-1404 and request the older firmware update. Thank You, Ramon Customer Service Representative I sat on the phone with the parts for a while arguing with the poor lady that i wanted the BT firmware not the system firmware. She insisted on sending me the old system firmware which may contain the old BT. No guarant
  12. There's a good chance they saved money in production by making the only difference between the units a software difference. Are the AVIC-F900BT and AVIC-F90BT's physically any different then the 700 otherwise? If they are then it probably is a CDrom in the 700. If they arent different then perhaps you are on to something. Is there a way to get into the device manager in winCE? I dont recall seeing the drive even recognized by winCE.
  13. I assume this was a dead end? Kinda too bad. I could see the warning being a cause of accident.
  14. Honestly, I think having the pre 3.3 version Bluetooth firmware would fix it all. Assuming the unit will let you downgrade. I'll try emailing pioneer.
  15. Update: I did get the contacts update to work via the method i described. I copied the wrong file by mistake.
  16. Does anyone know how to get the previous BT firmware? Prior to 3.3. Thanks
  17. oops sorry, wrong forum. Thanks for the move.
  18. Anyone have any luck using the Palm Treo 750 with the F700BT? Before the firmware upgrade it seemed to work a lot better. Now if i have the BT enabled on my phone before i get into my car it seemingly connects to the phone after the avic boots up. It shows my phone name, battery, signal, etc. However, if i make a call on the phone or using the dial pad, my phone shows that the call is going through, but it never switches to the car speakers (nor is the mic enabled as evidence by trying to call my home number and listening). Usually, but not predictably, it will work if i disable and renab
