Well, this saved my F700bt. I lost all use of it the other day. It was completly stock version with 2.06 I beleive. I have never played in test mode or aythign like that at all. It suddenly went to the flash screen then the black screen. Pioneer told me $200 for them to service, and it ws suggested that I try this out. After a few long nights of learning how to use torrents, and WinRar, and figuring out that my F700 doesn't like 8 gig cards, or my computer doesn't in Windows, and changing to another card, I was able to get a working unit again. Success!!!! Thanks for the suggestion. It took a lot of work, and a crash course in torrents and RAR archives etc, and the Windows environment. Also I tried a few times, but could not get it to boot into test mode. I finally tried a smaller SD card and that did the trick, or so it seems. I had a lot of difficulty in the Windows environment formatting my 8 gig SDHC card. When it gave me problems in the F700, i was questioning weather the fact that I formatted it with Disk Utility as fat32 in the MAC environment was the issue. It shouldn't be but you never know. I have never played with test mode and stuff. I am understanding this, if I use test mode, does the radio boot from the SD card? I then use the linked update and it reflashes the OS in the unit? That is what Pioneer wants to do for $200. I am correct in understanding this?

Hey All, Well it appears that my 700 is dead. It was working fine, then I lost my contacts today. Next time in the truck it would give me the splash screen , then shut down. I restarted the truck and that did not help. I also did the reset button to no avail. Lastly I tried to update to the latest firmware that I could download, v 2.008. I only had 2.006 in it. That will not reboot and load either. I called Pioneer, and they tell me that the software is corrupt and that the firmware update will not correct it. $200 for repair, plus i have to remove it and ship it in. Any thoughts?

I just picked up a 2 gb sd card at BB Friday for 7 dollars. I heard someone here mention staples had a 2 pack for 12. I hope what I bought works, as I am waiting for my unit to come in!

Sorry if I seem annoyed, but the other post was asking about 2 used units, z-1 and d-3. I know you did not mention the search here. I really didn't think these questions pertained to that, so didn't seem to make sense to post there. I was asking questions here in the F-Series forum about an F-series unit.

Hello All, I took the plunge today and ordered my f700. Hopefully this new firmware si as good as it appears. I was wondering what problems youguys were encountering withthe ipod touch. I found issues on here with losing connection. I know that is supposed to be worked out, correct? I am assumning that is similar to what I am encountering with my older Alpine. Hey All, Just found and joined your site. I am need of some info. I have found 2 units locally hear on CL. One is a z-1 and one is a d-3. Z-1 is only 5 months old for $575. D-3 is $450. What are the differences, and how are these prices? What do you think?
