  1. They are also 104.1 FM. My FM is weaker than it was with the stock radio so I toggle between 1310AM and 104.1FM depending on reception. I too am considering getting the HD module in the hopes I can get a clearer more reliable signal.
  2. When my Iphone wouldn't show video but did play sound it turned out to be a defective cable. Check to make sure its not that (especially if things work properly through SD/USB). Video size depends on what resolution you encoded your video at. Try the settings I give above.
  3. Use the proper resolution when encoding. The screen itself is 800x480, but I find 640x480 looks best for most video. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21389
  4. For the record mine was a iPhone 3G not an iPod as my original post states.
  5. I had this exact same problem and it was a bad iPod cable. Everything else about the iPod worked fine, but it wouldn't display the video (despite being able to hear the video). While removing mine from the dash to change the cable it would sometimes flash the video signal indicating it was in fact a broken wire.
  6. I too have had a hard time finding things on this forum even when searching. The settings I posted (MPEG4 codec) gave me smooth playback on both SD and USB. Another thing to verify is that your SD media is fast enough. I guess there is a chance that low quality media could have an inadequate transfer rate for video playback which could cause choppyness too. I have a 700bt so I can't comment on the DVD aspect and I never tried burning files to CD. Even though I found some settings that work for SD and USB, I still just put the videos on my iPhone. The interface is so much better. I
  7. There should really be a sticky about video formats in this forum. See my post in this thread for the settings I have used successfully. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21389 For play back from SD or USB there is no point to using a frame rate higher than 24.0, a bit rate greater than 480, and an audio sample rate higher than 44100. The unit (as per the manual) cannot use it. For the codec: MPEG4>H264>xvid. If you use the exact settings I mention in the link within your program of choice, I think you will find it tolerable for playback. Don't expect an ext
  8. I have never purchased anything from iTunes so I can't say for sure, but I would be very surprised if it didn't work.
  9. After much trial and error I was able to find a format that would playback well on the AVIC from SD or USB. Attached are the settings I used. H.264 would play but not quite as well. Xvid was very jerky. The best option I have found yet is to bite the bullet on an ipod that supports video. The ipod does the decoding and just outputs it to the screen on the AVIC. This has several advantages: 1. the AVIC performs as fast as normal since it is just a monitor 2. Anything that plays on the ipod/iphone will play on the AVIC 3. the ipod interface is WAY better than the AVIC video interf
  10. At what settings are you encoding your videos? I suggest using Handbrake and playing with different qualities. I am using my 3G iPhone with the pioneer cable attached to a 700bt and everything looks great.
  11. Just a quick update: I was able to get my iPhone working by replacing a defective cable. I would try reencoding your video files, I promise they will work from SD. Of course when you get your ipod cable it won't matter because it does a much better job of playback without menu lag.
  12. On SD playback, my video files lag when encoded with H264. If I encode with MPEG (mp4 extension) they work great. When using the bitrates specified in the manual I can get my files down to about 100MB per half hour of video. I wish I could get my iPhone to properly play back video on my 700 because you get a much better menu structure than with SD. I can only get sound but no video through the iPhone...maybe I have a defective cable?
  13. Guess I need to spend some time with the old manual...thanks!
  14. What is the AV 2 source listed in the source setup section. It can be toggled to 'off' and 'video'? When I look at the back of the unit there is only one set of RCA connectors though.
  15. Is there a modified sys.txt and setting_800x480.ui file posted somewhere for the 700bt? I have done the ezrider swap, updated maps/poi/buildings to 2008.4, and added mavericster's latest data.zip file. Everything seems to work except for the 3D buildings. Thanks guys, this thing is way better than before!
