  1. So, after everyone has done the upgrade, is it worth it? From the responses I have read in the last few days, it doesn't seem like it is... Opinions, please. Thanks!
  2. I was hoping this wouldn't be a thread about whether to buy a cheap Chinese camera from ebay or not... Anyway, rest assured, that's not what I am looking for. I want it installed one time and to last for many, many years. So, if I could find a license plate mounted, CCD high quality camera that does perspective lines, I'd be very happy. The perspective lines are a pretty cool feature, I believe...If not, someone talk me out of them. Or, talk me into them and direct me towards a product that has all the features mentioned above. Any suggestions? Thanks, Steve
  3. Hi all, I want to have a backup camera installed on my 911 and connected to my 110BT. But, I dont know the first thing about them. Here is what I think I want: Built into a license plate frame (for ease of installation and no cutting), color, something that works well at night and one that has perspective lines. I believe perspective lines can be both for parking space lines and for distance. I would think the distance ones would be enough. So, any thoughts, links to places that sell them or talk about them, opinions on what I should buy? And of course, why. As always, thank yo
  4. So, why in the same areas and regions, does the Tom Tom app in my iPhone do such a better job of routing then? Just askin' Steve PS: on this forum, many people have stated their disatisfaction of the routing on the 110BT. PSS: they did fix many issues that I had with my Z3.
  5. I have not found this to be the case. The unit is TOTALLY screwy in the way it wants to route me! I do not believe I am the only person who feels this way. This is a well documented problem with the 110BT. Sometimes I am just floored at how bad a job it does in routing. Is there some firmware update coming in the near future? Will it be done through the SD card? Thanks, Steve
  6. I did this and it fixed it! Not sure how it got "off" in the first place... But, it's fixed! Steve Isn't this just temporary to where you have to do this each time you start the unit up? Nope, fixed it for good... But, it sure is screwy when it comes to routing. I am not sure what the software people were thinking! I do love the unit for everything BUT navigation! If I am going to a place where I haven't been before, I will use the Tom Tom app in my iPhone. It is truly a more sophisticated piece of software when it comes to routing you efficiently. I hope there
  7. I did this and it fixed it! Not sure how it got "off" in the first place... But, it's fixed! Steve
  8. Both... I tried it both ways and it was waaaay off. I'll try it again tonight on my way home from work and see if it works any better. It was off for all 11 miles of my drive to work this morning. I've had numerous nav systems in many cars for the last 12 years and this is the first time it's ever acted like this. Hopefully it was just an abberation and it will all be back to normal and accurate on my drive home. Steve
  9. It's been calibrating for over 200 miles now and this is the first time it's been off... And, by a few blocks, not feet. Is that normal for it to start being inaccurate after it was spot on from the get go? Thanks, Steve
  10. Hi all, Weird issue, the arrow ( my position) is off by a few blocks... It was working perfectly and when I was driving to work this morning it started becoming inaccurate and erratic. I don't believe I did anything to cause this ( change settings, whatever). Any clues? Suggestions? Fixes? As always, thank you all in advance, Steve
  11. I'm sorry, what do you mean? Do you mean backup the iPod music and then put it back on the iPod? Or??? And, what does this do to help my situation? Please explain further. Thank you, Steve ps: iPods cannot be backed up without 3 ed party software... I have 75 gig of music on my iPod. It will take hours to do this...
  12. Hi all, New Z110BT in my 911 (professional install) with iPod cable. Sometimes when I turn the unit on the iPod is working, sometimes not. To fix it, I just unplug and plug back in the iPod. Then the icon lights up and it works perfectly. Any clues? Oh, its a 120 gig Classic with the latest software. Thanks in advance! Steve
  13. Why would I read all 211 pages when I can just search on the .pdf version? Hey, listen, you messed up twice in giving me information. Don't put that back on me! Please, in the future, before you write something, make sure you know its correct. It will save everyone a whole lot of headaches! Thank you, Steve
  14. Couldn't find anything about this in the manual. Did a .pdf search for TTS and nothing came up.
  15. Ok, so I went to the "volume setting screen" and could not find any option to set TTS or Non TTS. Just options to set volumes, mute nav voice and turn off beep. Is there another Volume setting screen? How do I get to this screen so I can change this option? Again, thank you! Steve
  16. Figured it out on my own! There actually is a mute button for the voice, its just one screen in. Go to the quick access button on the map screen, hit volume and then there is a mute button for her voice on the volume screen. Whew, glad that one got settled! I hate her voice for the most part. Is there a way to change it? My Tom Tom in my iPhone has that option. I so prefer the British ladies voice. On a completely side note, found a great Porsche logo for the splash screen! I am loving every aspect of the Z110 over my Z1, there is NO comparison! If I drove the Touareg more, I'
  17. Excuse me for being dense...But, in what "settings" are you referring to? When you go to the shortcut menu screen (where you add or delete shortcut buttons), there is NO option to add any kind of volume button. Please elaborate or, if possible, please tell me on what page of the owners manual this is explained. Thank you, Steve PS: Again, I went to the car and there are NO options to add this button (volume) on the shortcut screen.
  18. And what will this do for me? Cant I just go there with a couple more steps? Or, is that the point? Thanks, Steve PS: I just went out to my car and could NOT find anywhere to add this button on the shortcut screen. Please explain to me how to do this as it is not a given button option on the shortcut screen, thanks!
  19. Hi all, Just installed a Z110 in my 2007 Porsche Carrera. I am loving it! It works so much faster, smoother and just all around improved over my Z1 (with Z3 HD) in my 2004 VW Touareg. OK, a quick question: On my Z1, there is a mute button on the map screen that I can be activated to mute the lady's voice and her turn by turn directions. I cannot find this button on the Z110. Does it not exist? And, if it doesn't, is there a work around? As always, thank you all in advance, Steve
  20. again, thanks! The reason I ask is because the installation company that I want to do the install on my 911 will not do the bypass as they say it's a liability for them... I don't want to argue the point with them as they have a great reputation and if I can work around the bypass...then I'll just do that. Thanks, Steve
  21. Thanks everyone for the great info! Last question... Can you still use voice prompting to do these features?... Dial and input addresses? Thanks again, Steve
  22. Hi all, If I don't care about watching a DVD while driving, what other functions do I lose by not doing the bypass? As always, thank you all in advance, Steve
  23. Hi all, Long time Avic Z1 user and was thinking of upgrading to the 110. But, and this is a BIG BUT, why would I do this, if after 2 years, the Nav traffic function will be gone? I called the tech line for Pioneer and the response I got was that yes, in 2 years MSN will no longer offer this service and there is NO REPLACEMENT service, modules, etc going to be available. Wouldn't this stop everyone from buying this unit? As always, thank you all in advance for your thoughts, wisdom and experience, Steve PS: I live in Los Angeles and nav traffic is a great tool for me.
  24. When I did the hard drive update to Z3, it fixed ALL the echo problems... Just sayin' Steve
  25. Hi all, I have a Z1 (in mint cond) that has the Z3 hard drive/software upgrade (works perfectly) with a Sirius module, XM module, Bluetooth module and a iPod module... Everything works great (Bluetooth has no feedback at all and works crystal clear with my iPhone) and is all in mint condition... I am returning the vehicle (leased) and am re-installing the stock radio... Please give me an opinion of what all this great stuff is worth. As always, thank you all in advance, Steve
