  1. Yes that maybe but you still get free updates on patches, bug fixes etc. and that is the point. They don't charge for patches... I don't know about you but I get them for free. Pioneer is not coming out with a new product (F-Series), they are simply fixing the current device that have been sold. Where are you reading that pioneer is charging for 3.0? Have you read this thread? It 's through out. Yes I have been reading it... and if you would have seen what jason said it is the map update that is what you are going to be charged for... You can get the 3.0 update for free... but you

  3. Its been stated over and over that its the maps that you are going to be charged for!!
  4. ok well I got it to transfer my contacts through the phone as I read on a previous post on here... but how do I get my own two phone numbers that are still in there deleted?
  5. Hey guys... I just got my new phone today A motorola v750!! Sine my old lg 8100 wouldnt trasnfer contacts I was excited to do it with this one and it worked but all there is in the contact list is both of my cell phone numbers?? Shitty thing about this phone is that they dont give you a manual.. have to download it. Im going to do that now but I thought if any of you have seen this happen, and why its doing that? Thanks
  6. Yes you can connect it to the ground wire from your car. Or like me... in my truck I found a nice spot on the frame with a hole and it was the perfect spot. I crimped a u shaped connector on the parking brake wire and mounted it to the metal with a bolt.
  7. I have had mine installed since late january and it has worked fine for me. The touch screen is a little on the slow side but its ok. My phone is a 3 year old LG 8100 and it paired up fine except it will not connect the odd time and I have to re-pair it again. I dont know if that is the phone or the unit.(700bt) My main issue is with the maps... they are not as good as the garmin that my brother bought. Im hoping the map update this summer will help. That was the main reason I bought it for... to have everything in one package... Other than that its been great.
  8. With both methods you need to ground the parking break wire. I would say the cons with the software bypass is there is a greater chance at screwing something up with the software that way. The worst that can happen with the wires is that they are not grounding properly or the mute isnt connecting properly in the new slot. Personaly I would go for the hardware bypass. It was a piece of cake for me.
  9. Why dont you wait for the update thats coming in june and then see what you want to do.
  10. If we have to pay for it... It better be really good. I Hope its new maps though... Yesterday I had a appt for a CT scan in another hospital... I sorta knew where the hospital was but wasnt quite sure which way I was suppose to go. I wanted to use my 700 but it didnt know the street numbers or even have the hospital on poi. Well turns out there is no such place on the map for the place.. When I was there my arrow was in no mans land. So im hoping for some new maps!!!
  11. What I did was cut the wires. If I remember correctly I cut the green wire and spliced it to the mute wire and soldered it... then I cut the end of the mute wire and crimped a U shaped end on to it , then grounded it to the frame of my truck with a bolt . Worked perfect!!
  12. Didn't Google switch to Navteq recently? In any case, it is both maps and routing algorythms that are in play here. While iGO is reputed to have the best ones on the market, it needs good mapping data to make use of them. BTW, AVIC has most of the data Garmin has, you just need to turn some of the information on... I have my map setting on High? Is there any other setting? Since we get a rather primitive skin from Pioneer, you need to hack navigatemap files and/or SYS.TXT to turn some of the features on. Has anyone done this..It would be usefull to me since I have to find
  13. Ground it!! Either find the black ground wire from your vehical or just ground it to the frame somewhere!!
  14. I think what he is asking is how does he get to the files......and that my friend does not work like a simple update. You need to download the testmode files on this site... do a search and you should find it.......this puts your unit into windows mode if I am correct. I have not done any mods or hacks yet, but from reading this site from top to bottom, thats the way you do it.
  15. I was assuming it was hooked up right and he just didnt notice! But now the more I think about it and re read it... yeah it seems like its wrong!!
  16. if you cant pair your phone then there is something wrong with you unit! You should be able to press phone then everything should be greyed out....then at the bottom right corner it should say settings... that shouldnt be greyed out and you should press that and make sure bluetooth is turned on and then press connection and follow the instructions to pair your phone! Oh yeah...I think I saw this name on f150 online?? Is that what you installed it in? If you need anymore help just drop me a line!!
  17. Should have really just did the harware bypass... its so much easier and less chance of screwing something up if you make a mistake!
  18. You could try that.... My harness in my truck had the ground but I didnt hook it up... since the unit had a ground clamp on it ready I instead found a hole in the frame of the truck and used a bolt and ground it to that instead. If you try that make sure you get some sand paper or a wire brush to clean the metal off.
  19. Its just how its going to be I think.... Nothing we say is going to change much of anything!! Just my two cents
  20. If you do a search for splash screens you will find tons of pics and they are the correct size! I can never remember the correct size for the avic. To my knowledge I only know that the splash screen is for start up only! Even if you dont find something you like, someone might be nice enough to make one for you.
  21. Not 100% true. You have to create a "Pictures" folder first, put the background in that folder and put the folder on your SD card or flash drive, and import from _____ will be an option. You are right on that one!! But even if you didnt do it the first time... the unit will tell you to go back and make a pictures folder.
  22. I dont know where you read that it doesnt work?? Your suppose to ground the parking break wire, but like what was said in the previous post you probably forgot to move and ground the mute wire also!!
  23. Its actualy really simple... I assume you didnt read the manual yet?? As soon as I got mine I spent a whole evening reading that thing... and when I found this site I didnt even post for about a month as there was so much to read on here! As for your question.... find something you like... save it to your computer... then get your sd card...... save on there.... then take it to you unit and go to splash screen and you can see it says add from sd card!!!
