  1. Hmm, thought I recognised the monicker, it's Catchs' buddy.........
  2. You need to give a more detailed description of what happens once you have pressed the power button, does anything display on the screen, etc.......
  3. Go into > Top Menu > Settings > System Settings > Screen Cal., and calibrate the screen: should do the trick.
  4. Not sure if it's because of the storms you're having, but if the bar below the globe is flashing 3 green squares then at least you know GPS is working and trying to get a fix.
  5. You could do that, but you prob wouldn't see the map anymore
  6. Only used the OTA (TeleAtlas) maps, I'm not sure if the OTM (TopMap) maps will work on the Avic. Besides, with two differing maps installed for the same country it would probably throw an error. I have EastEUMAJOR and WestEUMAJOR, these are maps for Major roads.
  7. I've no idea why your maps don't show. I've installed all of them and they all come up. And as Boris says, there's no need to rename them. Just copy/paste from SDC to > My Flash Disk > iGO > APL2 > CONTENT > MAP
  8. Now and then, just for a big mac
  9. I've now got maps of Malta, Russia and Ukraine installed, which were not original stock on my 500
  10. That's defo not my wife then
  11. Wish my wife did.......................
  12. No prob, free stuff is the best
  13. Yeah, but I was looking for free ones for ya
  14. @ IDT, sorry pal, aint found any for US/Canada, only Europe
  15. I just d/l new UK map, loaded it on SDC and dropped into 500, and it works. No new licence needed. The rest of EU is there to d/l, 62 files, use link below > http://www.filefactory.com/f/0f1229fb308dd523
  16. Pioneer download page says it's a service centre job............ You're the first I've heard of to make that mistake, so I don't think anyone has a solution, but hopefully for you I'm wrong.
  17. Right, well your easiest option is to use the cradle together with the cig. lighter power adaptor: see the thread linked below viewtopic.php?f=34&t=23872 Good luck
  18. The (various) wires you would need to connect to will be within the cars wiring loom: wherever they run from will be hard to ascertain, but where they run to is much easier to know - the head unit. So I would say almost certainly the best place to do your connections will be at your h/u. And if you're installing the ND-G500 amp you will definitely have to connect to your h/u.
  19. LOL not at all mate, we're all trying to do the same thing and help each other if we can But dmindock says he has a '09 Ford, so I doubt very much it would be a fault with the solenoid or starter (altho' new cars DO sometimes come with faults that they shouldn't have). I think it may be a problem with that particular model of Ford, new ignition/starting/charging systems and electronics are a far cry from cars of just a few years ago. But I still think it's the design of the Avic electronics that's at least a part of the problem. I wonder if anyone else is having the same prob on vehic
  20. Solenoid has nothing to do with current draw, it's simply an electro-mechanical switch and draws a negligible amount of current. The starter, on the other hand, draws a large amount of current, hence the big voltage drop. I think the basic design of the Avic circuitry is flawed: the 500 is even more niggly at start-up, but it's something I've got used to now. Although once booted it's NEVER locked, re-booted or gone into a loop.
