  1. I have a Z1 unit that is a few years old now. Recently it started to act very strangely.....in particular the red arrow icon (which represents the car) begins to rotate very slowly. I have to go into setting and readjust my current location. But even when I do that, it'll take about an hour and the red arrow actually does a complete 180 and the unit thinks I'm going backwards. Again, I've tried to readjust my current location, I've even loaded the default settings, but nothing. Has anyone heard of anything like this? Or have any suggestions on what I could do? The GPS function is useless with
  2. So I want to hook an audio source (my iphone) through the AV input......I'm looking at the back of the unit and see there are RCA inputs.....so I connect through my iphone's headphone jack (with a headphone to RCA adapter) and I can't seem to get it to work. I go to the AV source screen and it won't let me select AV input as an option. Do I have to turn it on somehow? Any help would be appericated. Thank you
  3. thank you for the reply, 5g ipod, firmware is latest I haven't updated my Avic Z1 firmware, would you know where i could download? i tried pioneer but I can't find a thing on that awful website If I upgrade my avic firmware, will that change the fact hat I have rigged it to have full functionality while driving?
  4. Wondering if anyone has experienced this issue............so I'm driving along listening to my ipod through my AVIC-Z1 and about 10mins in my ipod will freeze up and the music stops. I check my ipod, disconnect, and the pioneer logo remains on my ipod. I have to do a reset on my ipod to get it back. At first I thought it was my song files, but I started to listen to the same songs without my AVIC-Z1 and I had no issues. Has anyone experienced this and found a way to fix?
  5. What does this update include exactly? just maps, or will the awful ipod interface finally be fixed?

    Backgrounds

I've done alot of searching but I haven't had any luck finding a dodge background for my AVIC-Z1. Does anyone know where I might find one?
  7. Just picked up my truck from the installer.......haven't spent too much time with the unit to give rave reviews yet.......on thing that right off the bat isn't right is the voice reconition. I realize it isnt always 100% accurate but something is waaaay off. It doesnt come close to reconizing what i say. Does anyone have any tips to improve this. I haven't tweaked anything yet so any help would be apperciated. Thank you
  8. all good points, thanks alot for your input, I think I'm going to just go for the Z1 and and deal with the slow ipod integration, besides I usually just shuffle anyway..... thanks again guys, i can't tell you how helpful this site has been!
  9. Is there a way to store multiple destinations as favorites? if so how many does the unit store?
  10. I'm thinking about purchasing the Z1 but now that I've read the D3 is due out in 4 months I'm on the fence as to whether I should wait or not. One thing i'm kind of hung up on is the Z1's sluggish iPod performance. The news I've read claims this won't be a problem in the D3. Is anyone else caught in the same delemia?
  11. thanks guys, just wanted to make sure i understood.
  12. Has anyone successfully installed a avic-z1 in a Dodge Dakota? if so what year? and did you experience any diffculties thank you
  13. I have spent several hours reading this board, but just so I'm not confusing anything (I'm pretty much a beginner at this stuff).......if i purchase a Aug2006 or after unit, all I have to do is ground the 2 wires to disable the security features? I won't have the need to install any switches or anything? I ask because I'm most likely going to have a local car stereo installer (boomer mccloud) put it in, and they mentioned having to install a switch that would be located under the dash. This switch would disable the security features if i flickered it back and forth. Now maybe this was because
