  1. I don't want to violate the forum's Classifieds rules, so PM me if you're interested in the F90bt. Just installed my FH-P8000bt and OEM Garmin dock in my '07 Xterra today. iPod plays within 8 seconds of ignition and iPhone connects 4 seconds later. I'm happy!
  2. I've decided to change gears and use the Pioneer FHP-8000bt for a while. I've got my Garmin for GPS, and all I really want beyond that is bluetooth and iPod control. Time to put the F90bt up on the auction block. I haven't posted a lot in these forums, but I read them almost every day. You guys have done a great job improving these products and the mods you provide have greatly eased the pain of owning this thing. In the end, it's just not the right product for me at the moment. Good luck, and keep up the good work. I'm sure you'll pound 3.0 into submission as soon as you get your
  3. I tend to agree. I've already given up on the nav system, in favor of my Garmin 750, but I'd still like to benefit from the bug fixes and performance improvements.
  4. Agreed. The only reason I bought the (rather) flawed F90bt was for the updates this community could provide. Even so, I'm only using it as a $600 iPod player at the moment because the GPS function drives me nuts (using my Garmin 750, instead), the Bluetooth option hangs my Blackberry Curve 8330 (Verizon) about 10-20% of the time, and the overall system response is so slow I don't want to bother moving off the iPod screen if I can help it. Listen up, Pioneer, either completely fix your products with this next release or, at the very least, leave us the option to do it ourselves.
  5. Hi, Baxter. I've had the F90bt for about a month now and there's as much hate for it as there is love. Like CatchMe, I've got the DNX9140 in my sights, but I'm going to try to hold out for the 3.0 release and see what it brings. I have a feeling that I'll end up giving the F90bt to my girlfriend and buy the Kenwood no matter what. Here's where I'm at: Love - Resolution - Voice Commands (most of the time) - iPod Controls - Hacking - Relatively low price Hate - Sluggish interface - Navigation controls (even with the hacks) - Sound shaping - Slow boot-up - Crappy contacts co
  6. Are the Kenwood safety features easily hacked to allow full operation while moving? If so, I might be game.
  7. I performed the hardware bypass without issue. Just double-check the following: - The mute wire was moved to the proper position - The mute wire has a solid connection to the ground wire - The parking break wire has a solid connection to the ground wire - The ground wire is connected to your car chassis I used sturdy wire taps and checked continuity after each connection. If all the above points are confirmed, the bypass will work. FWIW, I never attempted the software bypass. Hope this helps. PS - When my F90bt "locks up" after a bluetooth call, I pull the battery out
  8. milkegedge, you rock! I bought my F90BT after lurking in these forums, and I've stayed here looking for hacks. The combination you provided is awesome. Thanks to you and everyone here for all the hard work you do!
  9. I'll toss my hat into the "Yes" ring. I bought my Xterra for the express purpose of replacing the factory HU with a DD capable of video playback with touch screen controls. While I'm disappointed with several things (lack of wireless remote, useless knob, nav voice interrupting my music, etc.), most of my complaints can be resolved with some minor modifications. I'm glad I can override the video lockout, and the BT function works great with my BB Curve. My only other serious choice was the upper end Kenwood (I'm a Garmin fan), but I just couldn't make myself spend the money. For
  10. Hello, all! Thanks to all of you for your many posts, tips, and tricks on installing the AVIC models. I successfully installed the F90BT in my 2007 Nissan Xterra today, and all is well. Because of this forum, I was able to use the hardware bypass for the parking break (no restrictions playing videos now) and, with some additional help from and Xterra forum, I got the VSS wire connected to my instrument cluster. The most difficult part of the install was the disassembly/assembly of the interior. Everything worked the first time around. Thanks again. You guys rock! Dean P
  11. I'm planning the same kind of mic install in my '07 Xterra this weekend. I picked up an assorted pack of grommets at Radio Shack last night, but haven't checked them for fit yet. Pretty sure one of them will do the job.
