  1. Thank you very much, I misunderstood the thread. Much appreciated!
  2. Oh, okay. I didn't know that actually. I guess if i just throw the image onto the original drive then everything will be good... I am sorry for my ignorance, but I saw that it was recommended but not required to unlock the hard disk. What may happen if I restore the disk image but do not unlock the HDD?
  3. Hi, I did this too. Why is my drive rebooting every 10-15 minutes??? How do I repair this???
  4. I have been trying to download this disk image for a while now but the links are either dead or I am not getting a complete image. Is there anyone that can either point me in the direction of a good image, or would be willing to direct transfer it to me or my FTP server? Please let me know. Thanks!
  5. Hello, I have a 2007 Dodge Charger. I am trying to find out how to get the avic-z1 to retain auxilary power when I turn the key off? Can someone please advise? Thank you! Jeff
  6. Does anyone have information for installing a Z1 into an 07 dodge charger? Jeff
  7. One thing I can tell you is that the S1 Map looks exactly like the Z1 Map. I am hoping this means that they use similar map files... I just borrowed the disk that has the install software (including the ftp software) for the S1. I will make an ISO of it tomorrow and post a link for it when I get home. I hope this information will help us out! Jeff
  8. I will do what I can. He said it wasn't a standard ftp/sftp site. He had to use proprietary software to connect to it. The company that makes the map software for the s1 is apparently called navteq. I checked thier website and there is no information about pioneer on their website. It says if the company you are looking for is not on navteq's site then to contact them directly... I will get all the information i can ASAP. I was looking to see if anyone had heard anything about this software or company...
  9. Hi, so I got my Z1 installed and working properly (minus the speed wire) and I am really disapointed, like many of you are, about how outdated the maps are. Well I MAY have a solution. A buddy of mine just bought the AVIC-S1. His map file (named US_20060704_PIONEER_U11.map, approx 1.6GB) was made i assume 07/04/2006.... His map file although not perfect is updated to approximatly that date. There is a road that was put in about 2 years ago that is in his map that is not in mine. I am wondering if there is any way to take that map file and import it into the Z1. He told me that the S1 comes wit
  10. Has anyone tried a pc svideo out to the avic z1? If so how did it work out? I was thinking about doing the old keyboard/mouse combo in the dash. Then I can store additional music, movies, etc on the computer and access it at my leisure. If there are prior posts on this I appologize. I have not mastered the search functionallity on this site yet. I seem to get TONS of results for each search I do. Anyway, if there are posts please just point me in their direction. Thank you! Jeff
  11. Hi, I am sorry for this. I know it is a simple question but I can not locate my instruction manual. I searched around a bit but I can not seem to locate a screen to delete MP3's stored on the Avic-Z1. Please help!
  12. you can always go into the dealership and goto the parts counter for a wiring diagram. there is also the repair manuals you can get in auto parts stores... they have some decent wiring diagrams depending on which guide you get....

    SPEED WIRE?

Hi, I just got done reading the terrible installation manual that pioneer provides. I have to say, I have no idea what a speed wire is. Where can this wire be located generally? Is there something that I can look for? The vehicle I am doing the install in is a 2005 Crown Vic. I feel confident with the rest of the setup. But I don't even know what I am supposed to be looking for with the speed control. Anyone that can help PLEASE respond. Thank you everyone! PS - Thank you for all of your help with my prior post re: my 2005 crown victoria... Jeff
  14. what sort of modifications? have you done this before? do you know of anywhere that i can get some more detailed info? Also, is there any sort of mounting bracket to make the front look finished? Not in a year or so. I think I used a 99-5805 to "snap" the double din into the dash. As far as the mods go, once you remove the stock radio there's plastic along the top of the inside of that hole. That plastic must be removed in order to get the radio to slide in all the way. Like I said it's been a while since I did this, so you may need to get creative as far as securing the radio goes.
  15. I havent looked but I am fairly sure that the radio is double din. If I have to make some modifications behind the radio I am not so worried about that. I will make a custom mount if I need to. I am more concerened about the front looking finished and professional. which i have to say, is not my forte`. does anyone know if pioneer makes a standard piece to fit in? or does anyone have any other suggestions?
