  1. Uhhh... do what? Possibly step-by-step this mod for a guy that doesn't have code skills? I did sucessfully make the bypass speed change in the F500BT 2.0 upgrade, so I can bounce around in the program with a basic understanding... but I'm lost reading through these posts. Any help is greatly appreciated - I NEED that nav voice mute button! Thanks for everything - Johnny Mac
  2. The f500bt isn't really a head-end. I guess it's kinda in limbo between a head-end and a nav. system with a bunch of features. Anyway, once I stopped thinking of it as a head-end device and (most importantly) added the amp, it all came together. Have no fear, once you get it dialed it kicks ass.
  3. My opinion... get the amp. Unless you're already using slave power amps in your system, I can't think of a reason not to. Without the amp, you might face a string of integration tweaks, and still hit a wall here and there. With the amp, all the features integrate smoothly. Pretty much all you have to do is balance the "master volume" and "voice volume" levels to your preference.
  4. I've been hoping one of the many software Gods around here would latch on to this. (maybe change some code to add headroom in "master volume"?) If there's no way to increase output with a hack, I'll probably try putting a line driver between the output and the amp. This should work in the case of running into an aux. in as well. The problem with that is (besides the extra cost, extra work, etc.) is it might introduce noise and/or acceleration buzz. I'm gonna wait a while and see if anyone comes with a hack solution.
  5. A Victim of Identity Crisis? Maybe that's what AVIC stands for. Is it a head-end? Well, not quite. Is it a nav system? Well, yea... but alot more too. Whatever it is - thanks to this forum - my system is peaked and tweaked just right. Now I'm cruzin' through the chaos of the day. Thanks to all! Johnny Mac
  6. Recently installed a new F500BT along with the ND-G500 power amp in my company service truck. The amp is great for my application - tightens up the shitty OEM stereo sound, and all the features work through it. Problem is... The radio output slams the amp good - but when I play music off the SD card the volume is totally weak. I guess I'll have to install a line booster, but the AVIC was designed to use with this amp! Any ideas appreciated. This forum rocks
