  1. I've been reading the posts here with a lot of interest and looking at adding this mod to my unit, the only thing holding me back right now is that I don't have an overall feeling for everything that this mod does. The downloads contain no extra info such as a readme or even a rudimentary overview that describes the changes that will take place after the mod is applied. And with over 80 pages of forum info, trying to extract that from individual posts is highly problematic. Is there a summary or explanation of all the things in the mod that I missed somewhere?
  2. I had sent an email off to pioneer support on the 3rd of this month, asking about how I, as a Canadian customer, can get the 3.0 update. This was the response I received today (the 17th)..... 3. One of the reasons I "upgraded" from my Magellan Roadmate to the F900BT was the advertised 12 million POIs versus the 6 that came with the Magellan. Well. It looks like 11 999 999 of those must be in the US because the I'm sure as hell having a hard time finding anything listed here in Ottawa (you know, the nations capital?). Tried finding the Famous Players Coliseum movie theater, one of the largest theatres in the city, and nothing. Finding the GPS software to be less that stellar, especially when compared to offerings from Magellan and Tom Tom. Any hope of the fabled versio
  4. Recently I purchased a Pioneer F900BT for my car, which is a stereo, GPS, and bluetooth enabled unit. I am able to initially pair it with my HTC x7501 (a windows mobile "uber" phone) with no problem. And for a couple of days the 2 devices will find each other when I get in the car and the stereo turns on. But eventually they just stop talking and I have to re-pair them over again. I find this bizarre since both machines still list each other as paired devices in their respective bluetooth setups. They just stop talking to each other. On the HTC side, in an attempt to remedy this
  5. Well, stumbled across a work around for this issue. Not elegant or convenient but it does work. Assuming a track has started playing that you would rather skip and pick another random track. I did notice that the unit does correctly pick a new random track when it finishes the current track. Since you can't just hit "next track" and go to a new random track, what I ended up doing was: 1) Hit "previous track" which takes you to the very start of the current track 2) Just as the current track starts to play, press and hold "previous track" until it goes to the very end of the p
  6. Installed my F900BT last weekend and been sort of disappointed with the "user experience". Mostly due to what seems are software shortcomings. My current and main sore point is that the "Next Track" button does not function as expected when using the Shuffle mode. Every media device in existence will take you to a new random track if Shuffle is turned on. Every device that is, except apparently the F900BT, which takes you to the next track in the normal sequence of things. One reason I bought this device is that it handles dual layer DVDs, which gives me over 8 gigs of file space fo
  7. Really? That is insane. How does a product that costs this much, has a software update out for it, and is pushed as a multi-media marvel for your car, miss on such an obvious feature? Who tests this stuff? (I'm a QA and Test developer so tend to get irate at shoddy releases) I installed my F900BT last week and ended up being lukewarm to the final result. I find that the hardware is a great piece of kit, but is let down by some half-assed software. A number of my issues seem to be addressed with some hacks (which I have yet to implement), but that doesn't cover some major niggling p
