  1. you don't need a special cable to make it work, just a standard mini-to-mini cable. i use one to play pandora thru my 3g. just go into av settings and set av2 to video. it'll show a black screen, but the music plays just fine. i usually have my deck on map screen anyways,. if your deck isn't working, you might want to have it looked at by a repair shop.
  2. I tried this myself at one point but found out that the +12V constant also experience a dip during cranking. if your voltage is dipping that low during crank, you might want to get your electrical system checked.. starters draw a fair amount of current, but it shouldn't be enough to dip things that low unless you've got a bad cell or two in your battery. The allowable voltage range for the Pioneer is 10.8V to 15.1V. Considering I have a 12V battery that only allows me a drop of 1.2V during cranking, quite tight. I think the problem is this tight tolerance not the electrical system

  4. if you're not concerned with the power surge that may occur during cranking, why not just change the acc line? instead of using the acc wire in the stock harness, just run a line to the vehicles ignition line? ign remains powered while cranking..
  5. ground loop isolator is for rca cables.. ?? change acc power source (red wire in the deck harness) to ignition instead, and use a voltage regulator to eliminate spikes. this would also be advantageous as it would eliminate voltage fluctuations caused by varying alternator output.
  6. oh the 'search' pricks.. every forum has them, so you just HAVE to love them. =] i dug thru page after page and never found anything on running other apps from windows ce.. just a few threads where people were asking similar questions. didn't see anything in there so i figured i'd ask again in case something had come up that i didn't find. and unless someone has edited the faq, there isn't anything in there about it either.. i obviously dug thru there, as i successfully performed a few mods as already mentioned in my first post. so seriously, i understand how forums work..
  7. so just picked up my 700bt yesterday, and just started modding it today.. so far it's just scheme/bypass/speedcam/beepkill but i'm going to take a stab at image editing and such as well. in the meantime, i've been thinking about this whole windows thing. has anyone here ever tried doing anything using the windows system? like perhaps adding some games? i imagine ferry rides being a bit nicer with some solitaire or mahjong.. if only just to have something else to do. or perhaps tethering a cell phone to the thing via usb and loading an internet browser on it? i mean, doing some tw
  8. it's the car, not the deck.. acc power drops out when the key is in the crank position. this helps to save sensitive electronics from the voltage peak that generally occurs when the alternator first starts spinning. if you really want to change it (doing so at your own risk) , then cut the acc power lead at the stereo harness and run a line to an ignition wire at the cylinder. if you tell me your year/make/model i can tell you which wire that will be. be warned tho, you'll likely lose the ability to use the radio with the key in the acc position.
  9. many thanks to the OP for this.. you have saved my sanity to be sure for mine, i just went into the sounds folder and made a new folder (left it titled 'new folder') and simply dragged and dropped the 4 wav files into it. after reboot, the beeps were gone! no click or pause that i can detect either. and if i miss them, i can always go back in an drag/drop them back into place. no need for renames or anything. =]
  10. thanks... the only thing i can find about the parking brake wire is that i need to use a switch, and that's teh_gheyness. there has to be some way of doing this in an automated fashion.. i would have assumed that the remote turn on lead would only show 12v after the system had booted up.. if so, that signal should be able to kick over a relay to ground that pesky wire. this way the unit would only see the ground after boot up was complete, which is what it wants. guess i'll have to play around with that a bit more then.. [rant] one thing that drives me absolutely insane about forums
  11. alrighty, installing an n2 into my buddies car and this thing keeps giving my troubles.. he got this thing from best buy as an open item and it did not come with the antenna.. antenna is on order, but was hoping to get everything else up and running in the meantime. first off, i'm gonna assume that the 3d calibration will not funtion without the gps antenna installed? i found what i'm pretty sure is the vss wire (green wire in instrument cluster, climbing AC with speed..) and after tapping into it i took it for a quick drive.. under 3d calibration mode it was registering the speed puls
