Yeah, probably a little extreme... That's cause I spent a few months in sunny California and got a little spoiled. I'm sure if you came here now, your system would go into shock as well. My friend just got here from LA and I love it how he tells me that it was sunny and 75 and he can't wait to be back.

No, I didn't... I'm embarrassed to say I couldn't. I got the Z3 working; just not the expanded hard drive. For me, it was more about knowing that I could do it (follow directions, which clearly I can't) I'm not too concerned about maxing out the hd though, cause when I went from the Z1 to the Z2 upgrade, I noticed that I burned a total of 3 cd's. I use the XM and the iPod for the most part. Maybe in the spring, when it gets warmer, I'll give it another crack.

lol. I never really considered NYC to have extreme weather... So does that basically mean that people north of me (NH, VT, MA, Upstate, Canada and N. Korea) can't use the nav until it warms up?

The weather dropped to balls cold over the last week (a good 30 degree drop) and when I start the car up, the touch screen does not respond for a good 5-10 minutes. Especially annoying on the Map mode when the OK button is there and I can't get it to respond. I figured it was the freeze problem with the Z1 and Z2 so I tried the firmware upgrade. But apparently Z3 you don't need it because it's already upgraded. Does the remote control come with a "Enter" key? Maybe that's one way around it. I noticed that the manual buttons such as volume, ff, rew all seem to work.

Hi there. Updated hd to Z3 and so far so good. I received the Firmware Update from Pioneer today. Insert the disk and it says "CD-ROM inserted" on the bottom left hand corner on the DVD screen. I wait and wait and wait, but nothing. I know I need the update cause the freezing will cost me a new system one day when I accidentally put my fist through the screen. I'm so close that I can taste it.... Please help!!! Thanks.

Yes, I've already downloaded the Z3 image. I did unlock it so theoretically, I can wipe it off and put the image back on. When I did burn the image, I started the process and left my apt, so I don't know how long it took. How long do you think it would take to erase and redo?

Thanks for the response but I haven't used Acronis much so I'm a little lost. I have the Z3 hd plugged in and when I click on My Computer, I see the TFAT D, TFAT E, TFAT F and TFAT G. After I open Acronis and click on "Backup and Restore" it says "No items on display". I click on "Operations" on the top and click "Restore" and I get a new pop up screen that says "Restore Wizard" which also says "No items on display". I click "Browse" and I see the D, E, F and G drive. And that's as far as I can get.... I can't seem to select any folders and when I click on the D it opens all the other

Can someone give instructions STEP BY STEP? I unlocked and upgraded to the Z3 on my Toshiba 60gb hard drive. I have Acronis True Image Home (trial version) downloaded on my computer, as well as the 2.5" to 3.5" Hard Drive adapter (both the IDE and USB). But all the posts I've read thus far has not been too helpful. Can somebody please shed some light? If not I guess I'll have to settle for less music on my Z3...

I would recommend that you go to a BMW 5-series forum and ask there. I have an M3 and e46fanatics and M3forum had a ton of information. Good luck.

You can replace with a faster hard drive that has more storage as well.

I tried pressing Mode and it allows me to scroll through the channels by pressing the "TRK" button. It starts at the bottom and counts up. But if I want to skip different themes, it doesn't let me - ie the "P.LIST" button no longer works.

Fellow XM users, are you missing certain channels?? WTF? I have a Z1 which I upgraded by replacing the old hard drive with a new Toshiba 60gb hard drive with the Z2 software on it. It's worked fine for months (bypass, XM, iPod etc) but a few weeks ago, certain channels were missing on my XM, but I know that XM did not eliminate them. I'm able to scroll by themes by pressing the "P.LIST" button; Decades, Country, Hits, Christian etc. However, when I'm scrolling within a particular theme by pressing the "TRK" button, channel 20 is there, but it jumps to channel 23, skipping channel 21 a
