  1. tjdehya, If it was push button climate control and molded into one panel, then yes, that would make thinks easier, but this cc has dials and most likely has vacuum tubes which would be somewhat tedius to relocate. And personallly, I would not want my climate controls relocated. I would much rather do away with the two vents. Just my opinion though.
  2. You're fortunate that the vents are directly below the stock radio and not the climate controls. This could definitely be done if you eliminate the 2 lower vents, cut out the ductwork and block that off. But you must block off the ductwork or you risk condensation (from the moist air of the A/C) entering the Z1 openings. You'll of course, also need to make a custom face plate. If you have rear vents for the passengers, you won't need these two vents anyway. If you wanted to keep the vents, you would need to fabricate a casing for the Z1 which would protrude above the dash and p
  3. PaisanNYC, I did the same thing. Damn them. Now if I can just figure out a way to alter the date on the receipt...oops are the Microsoft Police monitoring this site? You didn't just read that DucatiBoy. This post not for your eyes only!
  4. Yeah it is a tough decision. I had to choose navigation. There are so many addresses that it cannot find. And being an appraiser, I rely on navigation quite often. I think this unit will get better over time with software upgrades. Only time will tell. Thank you for the input. Kevin
  5. Man, I'd hate to see what you do to people you don't like!
  6. Yeah cntrylvr79, Same here. I bought my HP notebook at Worst Buy in July of 06 too. I heard that Vista is much more secure than XP and that it is much better at troubleshooting your own computer problems so that you won't need to contact customer support so quickly. We'll see how that goes. Have a good weekend everyone. Cheers, Kevin
  7. Hey cntrylvr79, If you purchased your laptop after October 26, 2006 you may be able to upgrade to Vista for $0.00. Yes Free. What brand and model do you have? I can find out if it qualifies. But again, you had to have purchased it after 10/26/06. Let me know, Kevin
  8. Thanks a lot for the bump. May after 30 days, we'll also get an idea of how many Z1 owners there are on this forum. I am very pleased with the participation so far.
  9. Don't know if you guys care or not but Windows Vista is finally scheduled for release on January 30, 2007. This is the replacement and the end for Windows XP!
  10. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Damn you guys! You've got me rolling on the ground laughing my ass off. I've got tears in my eyes, I'm laughing so hard. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! You guys are great! Kevin
  11. Well said Ducatiboy! Okay boys...We Z1 owners don't pirate software. Only PaisanNYC and the N3 boys pirate software. I also think PaisanNYC is the one starting all og that damn spam on here. What do you guys think?
  12. Ahh, I see we have some Seinfeld fans in here. Very nice...very nice! 3 cheers for the Soup Nazi!
  13. Sorry, I read that new Man Law wrong. You're right, it does say drink lots of beer and hit on all the hot ladies. What was I thinking ? I think maybe I should look into some corrective lenses!
  14. Hangem by their balls. Hagem hi. Use that M4. I'm sure that Jason can delete the posts but he would be doing it daily. He should also consider deleting their membership status if that's possible.
  15. I'm sure that if we all put our heads together, we'll come up with something. Oh and PaisanNYC, you N3 guys still have to pitch in. It's a new Man Law! Cheers, Kevin
  16. It's under warranty, so send it in. This problem could intermittently correct itself and fool you into thinking that it's okay, only to go out again...the day after your warranty expires. Send it in while its broken. If your sound comes back and then you send it in, Pioneer may never find the real source of the problem. SEND IT IN! NOW!

cntrylvr79, I forgot to mention in my last post...the connector in your photo looks nothing like the one in my 98 Exploder.

Actually, I think it depends on the Ford stereo that was installed by the factory. I believe it is included in the harness of the Mach Stereo System and maybe the basic system. The VSS connection was used by the radio to silence the volume at slower speeds and increase the volume at higher speeds. But the premium sound system does not have this feature and that's what I had in my Exploder and therefore, the VSS wire was NOT in my radio wiring harness. Believe me, I looked everywhere in the harness. And then the wiring diagram confirmed that it did not have it. It has the pin for it in
  19. Now we're talking. Let's do it. I'm all for it. Come on Ducatiboy. What's it gonna be?
  20. I just read in the "Z2 Introduced" thread that the upgrade will be $200.00 and will be on 2 DVDs. I guess I can live with that. But I'm going to wait until some guinea pigs on this forum, upgrade theirs first to hear if its worth it. Hey, I have an idea! Why don't we all chip in and just ship the disks around? 200 Z1 owners = $1 per Z2 upgrade. Wow what a bargain!!!
  21. Did the rep tell you what the cost of the map update will be? Also, what will be the cost to fully update from the Z1 to Z2?
  22. Sure, can you post the photos on this thread? Also, please indulge us with some juicy insider information. After all, we're living in the Information Age, are we not? We want information!

I own a 98 Exploder and actually the VSS wire isn't in the radio harness but it's nearby and very accessible. Also, you WILL need some custom work in the dash at the stock radio opening. It has a flange that will need to be shaved off in order to get the Z1 to fit. You also have to remove an inner bracket that the stock radio slides in and out on. If you can get everything installed for 28 sawbucks I would say go for it. That's a helluva lot better than 50 sawbucks. The add-ons are a matter of preference. Do you want satellite radio? Do you own an ipod that you want to play through
  24. daveva, I can certainly appreciate your stand on this. I too feel that the navigational feature of the Z1 leaves much to be desired and has plenty of room for improvement. The good news is, and I forgot to mention this in my original post, Ray at Pioneer stated that the upcoming upgrade for going from Z1 to Z2 will be a major improvement over the oiginal Z1 model in the way of accuracy, improved graphics and enhanced route learning. Let us not forget guys that we all own the 1st generation of Pioneer's AVIC Z-Series. It was inevitable that it would be imperfect. Listen, as long as Pion
  25. Yeah, no kidding. And to think, they call themselves pioneers!
