hey guys, i been looking for the z1 for a while now, and i sorta gave up and thought, shoot, i might as well just wait for the z2. however, everytime i check ebay 9which seems to be the only place to get them now) i see refurbished z1's. they are power sellers with high feedback and overall they seem like quality sellers. i was wondering what you guys think about getting a refurbished product. the price for them is 1500. any info would be great. thanks.

i say just wait, i am also debating whether i should get the z1 now and get the update or just wait for the z2. i'm waiting for the z2 because i don't want to risk not having any of the bypasses not working and all that kinda stuff. if you wait for the z2. you don't have to worry about all the other what ifs. plus msrp is 2200 for the z2. i am sure you can find places cheaper. if you buy your z1 for 1800+ you need 250 for the update. that brings you to almost the z2 price tag. i say just wait

after doing some more research, i did find out that for the music, you cannot create playlists as well. which means that when you skip to another song. it's just the next one down the line. which i think sucks. however. it is also 30 gig hdd 20 for music 10 for nav instead of the other way around for the z1. and also. you do not need to create wav. files onto cd to rip. you can load them straight into the sd slot which i thought was pretty cool. but im still leaning towards the z1/2. since im gonna wait for the z2. anyone know if there is anything new coming out hdd based from kenwood/alpine t

hey all, after going back and forth forever about getting a z1, i recently came across the AVN5495. can anyone break it down to me further as to which one is the better unit? i knoe the z1 beats it out in terms of poi's 11mil-6mil but what about other functions. the avn is also hdd based and has a slot for a sd memory card which i thought was pretty neat. and it also comes with a security system to prevent it being used in another car. has anyone dealt with both these units that knows direct comparisons? what about other hdd based units. are there any besides these two?

which is the better way to go? wait for the z2 or just purchase a z1 through ebay and wait for the z2 update? any opinions on which would be the better way to go? and also, is there a way to insure my z1 if i do choose to get it through ebay?

so now that it seems that online is out of the question, where should i start now? do i backorder from cardomain/crutchfield and hope they get 1 or do i try ebay. the only reason why im hesistant on getting the z2 right away is because i just don't want to shell out 2200+ when i could have the z1 for 1500-1800 and the update for 250 would make it a z2, so basically i would be saving some dough. and to be honest. after posting all this time and gathering info..the wait is a bit of a tease! so i just wanted to know if there are any sites out there that are reputable to buy from. and is ebay

i ordered my Z1 and it is on backorder. now that the z2 is coming out. should i be worried that they will not have the z1 at all? i personally don't understand how the whole shipping thing goes, but does this mean that the z1 is not going to be made anymore? so am i sh*t out of luck or...what's going to happen? anyone have any information? i would have to hate to have to pay another 500-600 hundred just for the z2 when i paid 1600 for the z1. i hope i don't have anything to worry about. please post any information you may have.

hey DB. so i don't need the thing from ebay correct? but i was reading the post about if i upgrade the bluetooth, i will lose my bypass? something along those lines. can you make that more clear to me? and how do i know if my z1 is before july or after oct? thanks

hey. im getting it from a friend that no longer wants his *shrug* he hasn't even put it in his car. so it's practically brand new in box. so ok. all i have to do is just tell my installer that? what is the secret wire? could you give me a step by step? that way when i go to him (or probably another person now) i can just tell them. hey u need to do this. thanks guys

hi, im looking to get my z1 installed soon and i want to do the security bypass. however, after talking to some audio stores around my area, they have told me a couple of things. one place told me that even after the bypass, i will have to flick my brake lights on 3x. and if i didn't want that, i would have to pay 150 for them to get the part so i wouldn't have to. is the bypass module needed? they are going for 50 bucks on ebay and i was wondering if that is what i needed or not: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... category0= there seems to be 3 different kinds on ebay as well

just a quick question. how much should i be expecting to pay for the bluetooth ndbt1? i see the stock price is 99 but on ebay they seem to be going for 70+ any suggestions? thanks guys

thanks for all your help guys. the only reason why i am even considering installing it myself is because of all the aftermarket stuff. bypass and where to put in my mic and that kind of stuff. plus, im scared that a place like circuit city would mess it up after hearing some horror stories about them not knowing what they are really dealing with. i drive a 1999 ford explorer and i ordered all the install kits and the double din kit and the wiring harness already. i am planning on getting the bluetooth add on as well. any other accessories you guys would recommend? i appreciate the quick respon

did you do the installation yourself or did you get it professionally done? i have called up a lot of places around my way and the cheapest i found was for 280 including bypass. does this sound like a deal or is this still a ripoff?

i just ordered my new Z1 but after reading all these posts on tech stuff, i feel confused and flustered. i want to install it myself (to save money) but am scared of breaking something that i spent almost 2gs on. if there is someone around my area that knows what they are doing and is capable of helping me. please msg me back. either recomending a place that is affordable or even help me to install it? the local audio shop i went to said they were charging almost 500 which i thought was insane. please help me. thanks! ducatiboy, any suggestions?!
