  1. so your suggesting that pioneer shipped a harness with a missing wire, or is it possible that the x710 does not have the violet wire. the manual covers both the x710 and the x910. the harness doesn't have the pink wire either. the request for a picture was simply a attempt to clarify. I would be grateful for any one who has a boyo camera attached to x710bt to respond with thier experience and how they wired it and if it works smoothly,i.e. comes on in reverse, goes off when shifted into drive or park and the unit goes to the next function such as ipod, radio or nav without a long delay or g
  2. I have a boyo vtl422c installed in a 08 nissan frontier with a x710bt and the camera image is very good even at night. The problem I have is how it operates. It is wired to the back up light and grounded at the tail light. Camera harness has the video cable and a red and black wire. In the install manual for the hu it says to run a wire from tne hu to the backup light wire. Problem is the violet wire it indicates is not on the power harness as the instructions suggest. When I start the truck and put it into reverse after about 30 secs the camera comes on and then when I shift into drive it g
  3. try hitting the map button then the audio and then the menu. My x710 does the same thing and I haven't found a way around it. I turn off the camera when I don't need it and back on when hooking up my trailer. this seems like a lame way for this to work. I have my camera hooked up to the backup lamp and grounded and the video wire into the brown wire from the hu
  4. I just hooked up my backup camera and I noticed the same warning message. You have to wait untill the unit fully boots up then go to main menu and press audio source and then choose radio, ipod etc and them it goes to what you have choosen. This is very annoying. Is the only way to avoid this, is to turn off the camera after you use it and then turn it back on when you need it again. Am i missing something in the settings or how it is wired. I have a x710 and the camera is wired to the backup lights so it only comes on when you put it in reverse but the message stays on (caution images may be
  5. I would just like to thank retell for his work on the software download. I was trying to isnstall a x710 in a 08 NIs frontier and after trying the hardware mod that did not work (I took the unit out 5 times and went over every wiring connection, changed the plugs, sent back the first unit and got another one. the only conclusion I could make was the metra wiring adaptor had some hinky connection or the 2010 x710 has some software lock out for the mute wire/brake wire grounding. So in desperation I tried the software hack and after two attempts it works great. One of the best features is the
  6. Pulled the plug off the unit and put an ohm meter on and there is a good connection into the unit so that eliminates the plug. Does this mean the problem is in the unit itself?
  7. If this is caused by the parking break wire which comes out of the black plug that goes into the back of the unit and has nothing to do with the plugs that attached to the nissan plug from the truck. Could the black plug that goes into the back of the unit be bad. I have tried grounding the green break wire and hooking it to the parking break and it makes no differance.
  8. The only variable I can think of is the plug end I got from metra to use to avoid cutting the factory harness. It said it worked for a nissan and a subaru. It had a black wire (metra diagram says it's a ground) that said subaru only and I checked its location on the nissan factory plug and the wire is hot when the key is on so if I connected it to ground it would create a dead short. Is it possible that one of the wire from the car is incorretly matched up in the plug.
  9. I went back and pulled the unit out and rechecked everything again and then backed out of the changes one at a time. I put the mute wire back in factory location then hooked up the parking break wire per installation instructions. The unit is now installed as the factory intended and I still can't access the system or navi settings in park with the break applied or any other way. Has anyone got any suggestions for a fix.

  11. I did the work around of moving the mute wire and grounding it. The navigation works while moving so I don't think that is the problem but thanks anyway
  12. when I open the settings tab I don't have access to the system settings or the navi settings All other functions are working. I can't access the bluetooth or phone settings. Anyone had this problem. I tried to update but that didn't work either. Help! I forgot to add the model, AVIC F7010BT
