  1. Thanks, just ordered a garmin mic from car toys for 8 bucks. will give it a whirl and post back results when it gets here.
  2. Ok so I have searched, and searched, and have found some ideas on alternative mics, but no one has given a definite answer as to whether or not they are having luck with an alternative, obviously cheaper, mic than offered by pioneer. I have found them on ebay, for 40 bucks, but everywhere cheaper they are sold out. I just got the bluetooth module for my z1 on ebay for 50 bucks and in the works for getting an ungraded HD from Garrett since he is in my area, so figure this is the last thing I need before I install the z1 in place of my d3. any one had any luck using another mic??
  3. Save your time wasting disks, download times, and trying to get a perfect burn. Just go with SWDW's!!! Got my disks in 2 days, and couldnt be happier. Quality of the disk and even the lightscribed (I assume) labels that look great. Many thanks SWDW
  4. Just wanted to give a follow up to my question. I know that ebay has an antenna that has the connector the D3 uses for 14.99 shipped, but the Gilsson has had such good reviews I was insistent on using it. Well it worked, and perfectly! I cut about 2 inches above where the original connector is, and have had 3 straight days of perfect GPS.
  5. Hi All, I bought a used AVIC D3 with everything except the GPS antenna, previous owner is using it on a new system and told me he is simply cutting the wire and will splice to whatever connector his new radio has. With that, he told me just to go and buy a generic antenna and cut and splice the wires. Any one know if this will work? I went to frys and picked up a Gilsson 5342178, with universal fittings, but want to know if this will work before I start to cut. I have already verified that none of the adapters it came with will work, but I have a feeling it might work, just not sure how t
