  1. hello, i bought an AppRadio and had it installed about 6 months ago. Yesterday when I turned my care over (on the very day I get iOS 6, no less!) I noticed the head unit did not power up. Totally dark. Tried a few times w/ no luck. what could be wrong? how should i diagnose this... a fuse, maybe? then check the connections? thanks, matt
  2. total bummer.... how lame. and that Garmin charges for the feature for Motion X Drive doesnt. i really like the Garmin StreetPilot app but am so disappointed every time I drive that it wont use the AppRadio's external screen like many apps (Motion X, Netflix, etc...). cant these people all get together and get with it??
  3. ok this is weird...if I'm listening to the FM radio, then use Home -> Apps -> MotionX, the radio cuts out. it is necessary to double-click the Home icon, and toggle the "Radio mix" button, whatever the hell that is. what is this insanity? any idea why the radio doesn't just simply keep playing in the background, like it would on a normal planet? thanks!
  4. I've not seen it there. for me, i begin w/ the Home screen, go into Apps, then load YouTube on the iPhone. i then use the phone to navigate and select the episode, and it shows up on the AppRadio display.
  5. hey folks, since this head unit doesn't have an embedded gps device and is more or less an external monitor for your iPhone, what does the hard wired gps antenna do? is the iPhone able to use it via the dock connector, overriding it's own? thanks
  6. just got mine, despite the warnings. I think it's a great concept and that's why i got it...but man are Pioneer's software developers unskilled. the implementation is simply poor. which is odd -- if you're selling a product to IPHONE users, then it should match the expected quality of an IPHONE! which means sensible scrolling & flicking UI, screen and button design, etc.... to not do so is to set yourself up for failure. expectations, people. Pioneer needs to get its act together, hire some talented UI & software developers, and fix the interface.
  7. argh...i foolishly left both faceplates in my car, and somebody removed them last month. goddammit.... i now need to buy a THIRD faceplate, my second replacement. if anybody is selling, please let me know. otherwise its off the parts group. thanks, matt
  8. fixed it -- theres a tiny switch atop the detachable faceplate, it had gotten switched to "OFF". switching it back to "ON" restored voice nav.
  9. i have, and ive reset the settings to default as well. still nothing. the volume adjustment widget will elicit a sample voice, but it just isnt talking during real use.
  10. so i had thought id lost my faceplate and ended up purchasing another from Pioneer. of course, when cleaning the house i have now located the original faceplate (and my key fob, score!). so i have an extra. if you need a replacement or want a second, ill give you a much better price than pioneer. just let me know.
  11. for some reason in the past few weeks, my unit's nav will no longer speak to me. doesnt give me turn warnings or next steps. i have no idea what i did to upset her! any ideas how this could happen and how i can resolve it? i tried flowers, but..
  12. i found out they are interchangeable. Pioneer will negotiate for a more reasonable price due to the lower street price.
  13. i bought a U310BT for its detachable faceplate. i see the Z120BT has a "motorized" display. what does that do? thanks matt
  14. i may have found the part on the parts site for pioneer, but...its $375 -- more than the unit retails for. does anyone know if these are interchangeable -- can i buy a used unit and make use of its screen?
  15. hello, after only a several months, it appears ive lost my faceplate. doh. will pioneer sell me a replacement? perhaps if i have the original receipt? thanks, matt
  16. because i dont want to permanently route the wire up the pillar. my particular mic can be popped into a ball-and-socket mount typically placed at head level, or, used w/ a lapel clip -- which provides better sound. but to do this one has to move the mic several feet when this mode is desired. which is why i want to use anchors (as suggested in the 310BT's install guide), because the wire is easily removed from them in about 2 seconds. cable ties are fine for tying cables to something else. they are not fine for trying to affix to the driver's side interior pillar. ...thus, my post
  17. yeah, cuz that will look real nice in the interior of my car. tape.
  18. hello, in the pioneer installation guide they suggest using adhesive cable "anchors" (not included) to route the long mic wire along the interior surface of the vehicle. anybody know where to get something like these? thanks, matt
  19. $319.95 from Amazon via DiscountsJungle. so far i am happy w/ the unit. while the qualify of the GPS is nowhere near a Garmin, my only real complaint is the street names not being visible enough. and, having owned an iphone, working w/ older touchscreen systems/maps makes them seem very primitive.
  20. hello, im using an iphone w/ my 310BT head unit. when plugged in via USB the unit properly recognizes it as an ipod and gives me the ipod menus & options. cool. but now id like to use the streaming music app Pandora on the iphone, and pipe that as audio-out to the head unit. can that be done via the USB-connection? i would think so, because i believe my Pioneer home receiver can do it via its usb interface. thanks! matt
  21. hey folks, just got my U310BT installed (DIY, wasnt that tough), and downloaded the app. in theory it sounded great - send addresses wireless to the unit. in practice....eh. heres whats up: 1) the app's map intereface is slow 2) it doesnt "beam" an address to the head unit; it stores it as a Contact which then has to be sync'd to the head unit. what the hell. ...i had envisioned that one would fire up the app, paste in an addy, push GO and it would magically send it to the head unit which would then use the addy for a destination. that would be the direct way to do it. as imple

  23. perfect! thanks. the only other question is one im posing to the scion forums.. my 2005 xB's steering wheel doesnt have audio controls, but the 2006 does. one can buy a replacement 2006 steering wheel (w/ audio controls); so im going to see if its possible to route those into the SWI-PS, and voila -- steering wheel controls on an '05. matt
  24. really? then how come when i search this very forum, it returns: No posts were found because the word swi-ps is not contained in any post. ...SWI-PS is the name of the unit. i dont seem any posts referencing it. matt
