I have an N1 that just got returned from Pioneer with the Cable upgrade done to it. I want to sell it and the prospective owner wants to do the new disk upgrades. What do we have to do to it to get it bypassed to make it functional while driving?

I checked the junction box and it all was tight and secure. The damned thing did it again today. Worked this morning fine and then when it got to about 70 degrees inside the truck it quit working and did not start to work again until it got cool this eveneing.

it is a real camera from pioneer. I will check the box, I know where that is, but it only does this while hot. It cooled down this evening and it worked again. It is really annoying. In fact one time when I was backing up this morning, it was on and then shut off on me.

I got a brand new Z2 installed last week. It has the firmware upgrade and a working bypass. I love the thing. It is better than what I had imagined it would be. The problem is that my rear camera works all the time in rear view mode, but when the unit is hot, it does not come on when in reverse. When the unit is cold, it works all the time when I put it in reverse. WTF??? Any ideas? The guy that did the install at the stereo shop checked the connections on the reverse wire and they were all good and tight. SO it has to be an internal problem. How do you contact Pioneer to tell them

Once again, thanks navyute. I will do that. I already have a copy of that image file on a DVD, so when I get the Z2, I will go ahead nad do the new HDD like you said and leave the original alone. Thanks again.

navyute, Thanks for the update on that. I was told by a programmer friend of mine that there is a program out there that can burn and image of the factory HDD to another drive. That is why I was thinking of getting a faster access HDD and then take the brand new HDD out of the Z2 and buring the image on the new HDD before the power was turned on the first time, that way the unit could boot up initally with the new HDD and I would have the one that shipped with it as backup.

Dude how can anyone be so ignorant about factory wires. These newer programmers that have displays in the cab and circuit boards and such in them actually DO radiate frequencies that can be heard through sound systems. It get modualtes through the OBD II ports as they are not protected. WTF ??? I have heard about htis for at least 3 years. Now if you do not have a programmer, then that is where the factory wires can be grounding somewhere or a wire could be scratched through the insulation. Hll there are literally thousands of things that can make sounds come through a speaker. Puttin

My question about the HDD is that is it the same HDD that you can buy for a laptop? So if the drive goes bad, it can be replaced by me getting one form Newegg or do I hae to get it form pioneer? I want to get a Z2 and I want to make an image of the drive as shipped from pioneer to save in case of failure, I can get a new drive and burn the image onto the HD and it will be good as new. or just put a bigger HDD in ti from the start.

Since you have a piece of shit truck, do you also have a programmer for the motor? Most programmers out there throw some noise into the system as they plug into the OBD II port all the time. It happens to Bully Dog, and Edge so far that I know of.

I may be a dumb ass, but I got a paper from pioneer saying to return my unit to them for the free ribbon replacement. Is that not the case? I am getting ready to buy a new Z2 and when I get my AVIC - N1 back after the repair it is going on Ebay for about $500.

Hey Kuco, thanks for letting me know that selling a disk is illegal and that other shit you included. Any mods to any of this equipment is fucking illegal dude!!!! WTF??? All of a sudden someone gets a conscience but yet, still doing illegal activities, how did you download the disks? Legally, Pioneer says they do not let any one download the DVDs, so now what?

Thanks for the info. I do have the voice recog, but it is not hooked up yet. I would like to be able to do some things on this friggin thing without tearing it apart after I get the upgrade. I really have no quarrels with it other than being so outdated now. Pioneer sucks, better yet the federal and state governments suck. You can go by any other type of navigation system like and Iway or a garmin and you can edit it and change it, but if the friggin thing is mounted permanent in the vehicle, you can not do shyte to it. WTF???

I do not really care to watch a video while driving, but I would like to be able to change routes and do POI searches. Any answers on that?

I have an AVIC N-1 and have done one update that was sent to me 2 years ago by Pioneer. I called them to ask when the next mapping update would be coming and they said never, I have to buy the new DVDs that are like $250 and I would get the new maps and the unit would be upgraded to an N3. Well, this is what I want to know. My unit works fine. I can watch DVDs while driving and change all features as well while driving. If I get these upgrade DVDs for my unit, will I still be able to change destinations while driving and modify routes just as I do now. I am not too worried about th
