  1. Hi Ryar:

    I installed Primo and not the AvicNet. I would like to add Avicnet 9xx GPS Fix.rar. I did try to do it but it did not install on Primo I am running Primo off the IGO8 instead of the SD disk. It did work for me on the AvicNet when the truck was not moving. Can you make a copy for just Primo and not AvicNet?

    Thanks

    Jimbo

    Sorry, no. It would involve installing the port splitter and having it auto-launch as well as gpsgate. Gpsgate alone causes the unit to freeze which is why both are required. With avicnet when it gives the message "initializing avicnet, please wait" and it reboots it adds/changes many registry settings including many which are required for the port splitter.

    If someone could find a way to remove the "System Startup, Please wait" message upon start we could do away with iGo8 completely and replace it with Primo. At that point I would be willing to put in the work to install and auto-launch the port spltter and gpsgate. Until then I am happy with avicnet as it does what we require to have Primo function properly.

  2. I mean - such as here - http://avic411.com/i...-avic-f-series/

    You can use that one if you wish. Delete everything in the Primo and Primo2 folders except the run folders and their contents. Copy the contents from the Primo folder in the other thread into the Primo folders of your avicnet. Change the sys.txts to port 6, and add the following lines to the sys.txt in the Primo folder:

    [debug]

    max_memory=35000000

    reserve_memory=1700000

    cache=600000

    You do not need these lines in the sys.txt in the Primo2 folder.

    Can I ask why you prefer that one to the one in avicnet currently?

  3. Ryar, my speed wire never was connected (just checked to be sure). When driving I never get a fix, anything else to try?

    Still no fix after the patch on post #3? That's weird because the included files corrected my non-fix issues. You could try a few things, first after installing the patch do a soft reset. Try using the original sys.txt, and then do a Reset to Defaults within Primo.

    If that doesn't work you can configure gpsgate to give you a different output port settings.To do this tap avicnet, programs, WinCE and then Total Commander. In Total Commader go to My Flash Disk\System\gpsgate\gpsgateCE.exe. The first time you tap it it will launch, the second will give you some options. Choose settings, and select the new window with the bottom bar. Here you can change many output settings. A virtual COM port on port 6 is what worked for me, you can try change a few things there.

  4. For the firts time I had a fix today! Good to know I wasn't driving. I've made some changes in sys.txt

    [utility]

    calibratefix=1 ; ; If gps signal don't lost write - "0"; if lost write "1"

    [gps]

    baud=9600

    port=6

    source="virtserial"

    set_messages="0"

    Have to do some more testing, maybe someone else can try?

    Good to hear! Note if you don't have the utility folder with the proper files in the Primo folder the utility line in the sys.txt won't do anything. I didn't find a difference while using the utility, I think it was implemented for phones running Primo which had their GPS signal cut in and out every few seconds. I had that problem on my Tilt 2.

    If you disconnect your speed wire Primo will get a fix even while driving (or at least it did in my case).

  5. bonjour

    Install(Settle) firstly on a card(map) SD

    And express of the SD boot firstly

    Without passing by testmode

    MERCI

    You can boot Primo automatically using option #3 in the first post of this thread. It is possible to boot Primo automatically off an SD card but I wouldn't recommend it. It will be much slower running off an SD then off the AVIC's my flash disk.

  6. With my unit previously Primo could not get a fix when the vehicle is moving, now after the update it does. If yours still doesn't want to get a fix it is likely an unrelated issue which I have no idea to solve since I do not have the same problem.

    edit: After implementing the fix I hooked up the speed wire and once again experienced the same issue. It is apparent at this point that the speed signal from the VSS is interfering with Primo's ability to get a GPS fix and display the location on the map.

    To see if the fix will work for you do a hard reset. Launch Primo and wait for it to load. Make sure the vehicle is stationary throughout the reset and launch. If it gets a GPS fix and shows your location on the map then the fix should work for you. Unhook your speed wire (just leave it dangling not hooked up to anything or take out the fuse if you installed one) and install the fix. Now when you launch Primo it doesn't matter if the vehicle is moving or not, it should show your location on the map. Note it may take from 5-30 seconds for your location to show up despite having "green" satellites.

  7. Bad news everyone. I did some more troubleshooting on the display location on the map issue but had no luck resolving it. I sent Chuck a PM and he replied; I was under the impression he was using a x910bt trouble free but it is a x710bt which he is not having issues with. Anyways, I came to the conclusion that Primo does not like the f900bt and x910bt' gps signal while in motion which is possible due to the VSS (speed wire). I tried hooking up the VVS, grounding it, and leaving it disconnected and the result was always the same. With the VSS hooked up the stock iGo sees the speed with no signal but Primo does not. So long as the unit is stationary when Primo when launched it will show a location on the map but only if Primo was stationary when shut down. A few odd occurrences I have experienced which hopefully will help someone solve the issue are below:

    - After a hard reset while moving Primo launches and displays location on the map while in test mode. A second launch after shutting down and the issue occurs. I deleted the entire my flash disk after the issue occurred , copied a clean install of Primo to my unit and re-launched and the issue still occurred. This leads me to believe Primo keeps a cache in memory which does not clear after exiting the program. That or Primo triggers some registry changes that are only restored after a hard reset.

    - After the issue occurs the only method to restore it to normal is a hard reset. Deleting Primo's save folder, gpspara.bin files, restoring Primo's defaults did not help. A hard reset has corrected the problem every time.

    - While driving with both the stock iGo and Primo running I unplugged the GPS. Primo displayed yellow balls around the GPS as if it was seeking a signal. When I plugged it back in the stock GPS got a signal and Primo immediately got the green balls and about 5 satellites were green but not location on the map, with a few red satellites seeking. I think Primo seen the stocks iGos satellites which it had a fix on and thought it had a fix on them.

    - I changed the sys.txt for the stock iGo to port=4 so it would never get a fix and confuse Primo. Primo still would not launch while moving.

    - I deleted the gpspara.bin files before launch Primo (I have read this is where satellite locations are stored). Still no luck.

    - I tried launching Primo through test mode, avicnet, and Chucks mod and the issue occurred regardless.

    I ordered an f700bt from ebay today and am confident without the VSS to confuse Primo it will work. I am really frustrated with the fact that similar model AVIC F series models with such subtle differences experience different behavior with the exact same settings and programs.

  8. Ryar,

    The trick with sys.txt to port 7 and shutting off the port splitter doesn't seem to work. Still “Looking for GPS signal…”. I’ve noticed that time, date and height is coming trough. Maybe the gps source need to be assigned in syst.txt --> source=”nmea” ? Will try this afternoon. Any thing else we can try Ryar?

    You can download the tool from this page: http://gpsundergroun...d-protocol.html

    It is a utility that will find your GPS port, speed and protocol. I never heard of and AVIC F series that ran on another port besides 7 but maybe there are a few exceptions to the rule. Run it from test mode. For myself, all I have on both my f900bt and f500bt as port 7 and baud 9600. You can also look at your backup my flash disk and see what is in the stock iGo's sys.txt.

  9. Can anyone tell me how to switch voices, installed the extra TTS voices but when selecting them they dont stay, only the original UK voice. Tried manually deleting all the voices except the TTS ones I want to use, but Primo will just restart when booting.

    TIA.

    Download the voices from post #2 of this thread and copy them to the Primo directory. Make sure to copy the tts_nua_v5 folder to the Primo directory and the voice files to Primo\Content\Voice. Check you sys.txt and under [folders] there should not be any commands for tts_nua_v5= or voice=. If there are comment them out (put a ; in front of the command) or delete them.

  10. I know your still trying to get this perfected on the American and European models before you work on a version for the Australian models...so I decided to have a bit of a play for myself and see what I can come up with.

    Anyway, I managed to get it running (iPod, phone, bluetooth, and maps)....BUT, when I select the Navigation option it doesn't give me any choices such as Tom Tom, Oziexplorer, iGo, iGo2, Primo ect...

    If I push the Maps button on the unit it runs the standard iGo maps (which I'm fine with), but I would really like to know how to bring the option up for Oziexplorer maps.

    Is there an .ini file or something that I need to modify (eg. comment or uncomment out a few lines?)

    I don't know if it matters but I have a F900BT Australian version (which after a lot of reading have found it to be the same as the EU models (746EW))

    Thanks

    Copy from the Euro or NA download this folder to your unit: my flash disk\user\userdata\iGo\SAVE\userlists. In that folder there are all the settings for menus, ect to display all the programs on the avicnet menu.

  11.

    Port splitter is set on and set as mentioned. Unit keeps on saying "Looking for GPS". After some adjustments Primo wil start but when I tap the map button the unit restarts. I think I'll have to start form scratch again.....

    Another solution would be set iGo and Primo2 sys.txt to port 7 in the sys.txt and shut the port splitter off. Make sure to launch Primo w/o iG08 so that the stock iGo is shut down; if it is still running Primo won't see the GPS and give you the "detecting GPS" message.

  12. Ok. I changed the sys.txt to port 6 and the baud was already set for 9600. This time is says "Looking for GPS" I got at least 9 green bars with 10 bouncing around at read. It did show up the City of St. Paul and show some of the street names. But I went no farther. One thing I noticed while I had Primo up and running, I was able to hit the "Map" button on Avic and was brought back to the navigation screen on Igo8. I thought when I load Primo, it suppose to kills IGO8. Is that true?

    That all I have for you. Sorry!

    Keep up the great work as I really enjoy modding around!

    Any idea what to do next?

    Jimbo

    Hi Jimbo, it looks like you are having the issue discussed in post #70. Start up your unit, do a hard reset after it has launched (it will then restart twice), and start Primo. Make sure you do all this with the vehicle stationary, when you are moving and launch Primo this bug seems to occur. Make sure when you start/stop Primo from now on you are not moving and it will work. You can shut off the car/closePrimo/or exit through the GJ skin, so long as you are not moving.

  13. I don't think this is the issue Ryar is talking about. Specifically, the issue highlighted happens to units that can find the GPS but can not translate that into a position on the map. I have only had the 'detecting GPS' if there was something wrong with the port setting.

    Ryar, unfortunately i'm away for the next few Weeks so can't test your work around. Is there anything on the Italian forum about this issue?

    Nothing in the Italian forums that I can recall. I tried the exact release of Primo from their mod and had the same issue. I am curious if all in-dash units are having this issue or just some. I didn't have it happen to me for the first 2 weeks after I installed my f900bt, I must have launched Primo before starting to drive. The only thing I could find online is that it is a baud issue; I tried several baud settings and had the same issue. I can confirm with certainty that my f500bt is able to launch Primo while driving and that it has not had this bug, and I have been using Primo on it since late August. The files on each unit are identical to each other, the only difference is the firmware. Oddly, with no gps settings what so ever in the sys.txt on the f500bt it briefly give the message "auto detecting GPS" and then detects the gps and gets a satellite fix, but with the f900bt with no gps settings in the sys.txt it will display the message "auto detecting GPS" and never auto-detect. Perhaps the f500bt has more Primo friendly firmware installed, or the built in GPS is more easily detected by Primo. It sucks that the more expensive and feature rich unit (f900bt) is the one having issues.

    I can live with having to launch Primo while stationary on the f900bt but would sure like to find a fix for this issue. I tried a different Primo 1.2 (May 20, 2011) today and the same problem occurred.

  14. Same problem here (Netherlands), the unit keeps om saying "Auto detecting GPS" location is somewere in Berlin with 3d buildings. Port and baudrate confirmed in sys.txt. The unit is a F900bt with I think firmware 3.02. Also tried Igo8 on port 6 and Primo on 5, no succes.

    Will try to change data.zip --> config\devices\pioneer746ew.ini

    Thank you for you afford so far Ryar, great release!!! Anything else we can try to get a fix?

    If your ports are set to 6 in Primo it is likely your port splitter is not running. Tap Avicnet, then settings, then system settings. Make sure port splitter is set to on. If it is and you are having issues start total commander and go to \my flash disk\system. Scroll down to portsplitter.exe and launch it (double tap). You input should be set to com7, baud 9600 and output to com5 and com6. If it isn't, stop splitter and change the appropriate setting, then start splitter. Tap exit, and relaunch portsplitter.exe. It should have saved the settings you put in and it will auto-launch with those settings.

  15. Well, I found out a little more regarding the not displaying location on the map issue. I can get it to display my location by remaining stationary when launching Primo, and at that point it navigates as it should. If the car is in motion when launching the issue occurs. After it happens once it is only possible to reverse by doing a hard reset (reset button on the face of the unit or hard reset option in Avicnet settings) and remaining stationary until it reboots twice and launches Primo.

    edit: Upon further testing the vehicle does not need to be stopped for the entire hard reset, just when Primo is launched.

    I'm not sure if it is the gyro sensor (I did the hardware bypass), the speed wire (I grounded mine), or the stock iGo manipulating the gpspara.bin files (I changed the sys.txt to port 4 so it never gets a signal), but Primo does not want to launch when moving. So far as I can tell, the only units having this issue are the f900bt and x910bt. My f500bt runs avicnet perfectly, perhaps because it doesn't have a gyro sensor or speed wire.

    Can anyone who is using avicnet and/or Primo comment on what unit they have, it they are/are not having this issue, what bypass they have used and what firmware they are using? It would be of great help towards solving this issue if we can get some information together, the more the better. Thanks in advance!

    It looks like people with other devices are having this problem too: http://www.mobilepas...hp?f=210&t=6803

    http://www.mobilepassion.org/viewtopic.php?f=210&t=1958

  16. Palexr, thanks for the info on which files you replace to regain the map position. I tried it and it worked once, but not a second time. You are right, deleting the save folder worked yesterday but doesn't seem to every time. What I have found to work best is change the sys.txt to gps port 5, launch, reset to defaults, delete save folder, restart unit, change back to port 6, launch. It worked each time I tried it so far, but it isn't feasible to do every time. I can confirm that each time I allowed the unit to shut down properly it restarted with no issues what so ever and my location is displayed. I have read the gpspara.bin files are the last gps coordinate/positions but didn't delete those.

    As you have found the power button you know it can be enabled by changing the sys.txt show_exit=0 to a 1. I took it out because it didn't seem to work properly in this newer version of Primo (May 2011). I think I will revert back to the Feb version because I didn't seem to have as many issues with that release. Using that button it should exit properly. Sorry, I don't have TMC here so I can't tell you if it is working on the GJ skin.

  17. Can I copy the maps from my Garmin nuvi(registered to me and activated)and just paste it into the Garmin folder in avicnet?Will this work??Exciting times on 411 at the moment!!

    You should be able to unless they are licensed for your other unit. I remember

    The microphone can be removed in the settings, but I can seem to find where!

    Is there some way to get ezrider to unload itself when you launch something else? It seems like its still running.

    In the menu settings you can have iGo close when you start a new application; I don't think it frees up all the memory using this method however. You can put a kill command in the .mscr file for what you are trying to launch. For example, the primo.mscr in the primo2 run folder has the command:

    kill ("ezrider")

    kill ("ezrider.exe")

    which successfully ends the ezrider and frees up most if not all the memory it was using.

  18. I will check, I'm pretty sure it is working though.

    Another question. Rather than a USB modem is it possible to use a USB wifi stick? I was thinking of tethering to my Android phone.

    It would be nice, but I wonder how many USB wifi sticks come with Windows CE drivers and software?

    Not much to add...just wanted to reiterate how much fun I'm having with this release.

    That's good to hear! I am still anxiously awaiting my OBDII reader and have located a few more OBDII Windows CE programs. Man, shipping takes forever from China!
