I think you can manually edit the M.S. playlists after they are created. At least, it seems like it should work. I believe to the iPod, a playlist is a playlist. And the Z120 loads the lists by name into the sphere. It doesn't know how the songs got there (in the playlist). Give it a try and tell us if it works Well, of course. But you may be asking if it will show up in Music Sphere. Like ...do you mean can you create your own playlist(s) using the naming convention that MS expects to find? I don't know, why don't you give it a try. It is simple to try. Let us know how it goes.

Cracking the Z110/20BT: F10/F20BT included? Region changing?
RonS replied to ShortFuse's topic in Hacks/Mods
No. If you had a Z110-BT you could theoretically load the EU or AU update to version 2.0 (Z120-BT equivalent) to use maps of Europe or Australia. But not to add arbitrary maps of other countries. Also, I think Pioneer sold an add-on of Mexico for the Z110, but I haven't seen a Z120 version of that add-on. You didn't say which countries you wanted. Helps if you give more details - you might get more specific answers. -
So you are going to scroll thru 20K songs to find the 1 you are dying to hear??? I'd rather say "play the song xxxxxxxxx" or "browse the album yyyyyyy" or "play the artist zzzzzzzz". I'm pretty sure you could cull it down to .... oh say ... 64 GB. I really don't think you need your whole MP3 collection and all your favorite vidoes with you on every trip. Once you see the convience of the iPod interface and (dread) Music Sphere, you will understand that it is not all about mass storage.

I am sure it doesn't provide enough current to spin-up a HD. Maybe an SSD. I think others have tried. Have you searched? Makes much more sense to use the USB to connect a large capacity iTouch/iPhone. Then you can manage it from the HU interface.

Cracking the Z110/20BT: F10/F20BT included? Region changing?

I have no idea, but since you posted the exact same question in 3 threads, I wouldn't say if I did. -
Thanks, john, that should help the noobs. There were a few parts that were ambiguous. It is always difficult to write instructions that work for all skill levels. You have to assume some level of PC competence. However, it seems many, if not all, of your links don't work (at least for me). Plus I thought Pioneer removed the 1.0001 (or whatever) update from their web site. At least it was gone the last time I looked. I could be wrong, but that link didn't work for me. Also a few warnings to those attempting: 1. These updates will require your unit to be operating for about 1 hr (or

No. I'm sure the tuner chipset would support it, but there is no way to change it in the GUI. Also, the DVD is locked to region 1 (North America).

Have you tried entering a destination or searched for a POI yet? Oh, wait, I see you are in Malaysia. You can forget about POI or entering a destination by address. I'd say the GPS is pretty usless for you. So the PB override doesn't do much for you anyway, unless you want to play videos while driving.
-
That should work. I wouldn't bother with the update for now. You verified that the unit works. The more you mess with it, the more chance something can go wrong. If you accidently disconnect a wire or you loose power during the upgrade, you could brick the unit. It is safer in the car with it permanently installed and a fully charged battery. Are you sure it hasn't been upgraded already?

Did you install the bypass? I'm not sure it matters, but it might. The Parking Brake lockout prevents a lot of user-interface type things. If you attempted the bypass, try playing a DVD. If it will not play ( I don't know what the message is since I bypassed from day-1), then either you did it wrong, or the pin isn't eated far enough in the plug socket.. BTW, you say you can't enter any letters. Do you mean you CAN enter numbers? Or you don't even get the keyboard on screen?

I have a feeling that switching iPod/iPhones accomplished what I was trying to do by turning OFF & ON VR Cataloging. Unfortuantely, that doesn't seem to force it to rebuild the catalog. I tried it yesterday on mine and it just used the old catalog (which, in my case, was still good). This may only apply to my particular installation, but I accidently found a reliable way. With the car stopped, I insert the key to ACC. I let the aVIC boot and listen to iPod. A few minutes later I start the engine - which causes the AVIC to reboot. After the reboot, and after pressing OK, it takes several m

First I was thinking you had an iPod, not an iPhone. I have an iTouch, but I'm not sure if there are differences.that matter here. When you connect your iPhone to your PC, it starts iTunes (if so configured, otherwise start it up manually). In iTunes is a menu to manage your device (IPod/Phone). You can update the OS and/or restore it, which reloads all your music and videos.

You're welcome. As far as forcing the VR re-catalog, I'm not exactly sure of the proper sequence to force it. Thae manual isn't exactly clear either. It certainly couldn't hurt to reboot after turning OFF. It might also work by just disconnecting and re-connecting the iPod. Here is what normally seems to happen. Once a full VR catalog has been done, subsequent reboots just do a quick check. On mine it only takes a few (5-10) seconds. A full rebuild takes several minutes. If you have a Z120, check out pgs 170-171. There are a few things there that you should check. (Language in setting

Sounds like the VR catalog is hosed. Try a few more "canned" commands that don't require recognizing the songs, artists, or albumns on your iPod. Like "Next song", "Previous Song", Change Source to FM", "Change Source to iPod", ... If these work, then it isn't your mic, it is the iPod VR catalog. That can be rebuilt in the AV System Settings menu by turning VR Catalog Mode OFF, then ON. It should take several minutes. Oh, make sure Echo Cancel is turned ON in the BT Settings menu.

A trickle charger would work, or you could remove the battery from your car. I had an extra battery 12v in the garage, so it was easy. Many modern PC power supplies require mother-board circuitry before they power-up, so beware. I guess you could make an adapter to run off your PC using an unused HD power harness. Make sure you get the correct voltage. I think it provides both +5 and +12. BTW, The Z110/120 spec says 10.8V - 15.1V DC. It can draw up to 10.0 AMPs (which could be a problem with using the HD harness on a PC power supply. I know it sounds like a pain, but pulling the bat

Sure, you can easily bench-check it. Connect the black wire to -12v and the red & yellow to +12v. It should boot right up. Might also be a good time to do the by-pass and test it before installing it. Then you should be able to play DVDs. You could also easily connect line out audio to a stereo ( I used a desk radio with aux line in), or temporarily connect some speakers. I wanted to make sure it wasn't defective before I wasted the time to remove the stock radio and install the AVIC. Just be very careful that you don't short-out any dangling wires with your power source.

Cracking the Z110/20BT: F10/F20BT included? Region changing?

Just to clarify, you did the 2.0 update, and then, without first installing BT 3.10 and 3.11, you installed 2.003? Now that is sort of backwards, but I doubt it causes a problem. 2.003 did have some BT fix I recall. Maybe there is some conflict. At least one other member posted that BT Firmware Update was disabled, but I don't recall what the fix was. Maybe that person will see this and jump in here. I do remember once seeing that disabled on my unit, but it was only temporary. I don't remember the circumstances. Maybe you should do a factory reset. -
Yes, it sounds like the g-sensor is wacky, so the unit thinks you are turning. Try resetting all the sensors so they will re-calibrate (see pg 149 in the Z120 manual). Then drive for a few miles.

It's been a while since I've seen the backside of my Z110, but I don't recognize that connector. Is it from the Pioneer? It doesn't look like the ones in the installation manual. Or maybe it is the OEM radio harness from your vehicle's radio? I doubt you will find an empty connector shell with no pins. Your best bet, and alot easier, would be to by a second one and remove the pins of the wires you don't need. You might find something from Metra. They make lots of harness adapters. Sorry, I can't offer much help, but I thought any response would be better than nothing.
-
In this case, a ground is a ground. It is just a circuit. Sometimes, for audio, you need to be concerned about noise from other sources, but not here. Just make sure it is a good ground. Your issue is probably that the pin is not seated all the way.
-
Of course you can mount the camera anywhere you desire, but the Z110 will switch the display to the camera input when you are in reverse. You could connect the Reverse wire to a dash switch instead of a backup light circuit. Then you could control it manually. You can also display it via split screen. But the biggest problem using the Pioneer camera is that it will reverse the image. That might get confusing with the camera facing forward. Better to get a standard camera (12v dc composite). I'm sure they are available.
-
No idea why. Maybe you should try to reset everything to factory. Did you try Voice Recognition? What exactly happens when you press the left button? And, of course, you need to press the stupid OK and be in the correct audio source mode (like iPod) for VR to do anything. I'm assuming this isn't a BT pairing problem.

I just checked out the installation manual, which is very skimpy on technical detail. Boyo vtl375 Manual There appears to be two video outputs in the connector. In the manual, one is labeled Video, the other is Mirror. So maybe the installers got them switched somehow. Like I said, the manual doesn't say much on the actual hook-up. It is mainly on how to mount the unit.

doesnt mute music when map talks or 4 calls
RonS replied to trunas's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
Read pg 170 in AVIC-120BT manual. AV System Settings menu. First press Mute until it says either Guide/Tel/VR or Tel/VR. Then press Mute Level and chose 20db, 10db, or All based on how much muting you want. -
Sounds like you didn't patch or install ShortFuse's hack correctly. If it was patched, you should be on version 1.002, if it wasn't correctly patched it will be v1.001. You need to be updated to 1.002 before installing V 2.0
