  1. I want to read the sd card in my computer, it's not visible due to the format of the sd card. i want to find out wich program i need to see the content on the sd card! Today i installed it on AVIC-F950BT and it works like a charm. Hope that someone will find out what to do or give me a tip

As I said above, those z150/US-Can  guys were using USB. Maybe they were using the headunit (in testmode) to copy all the files from the SD to a FAT32 USB device? Then they could copy/archive the files at will.

  2. Hi Ron, i looked at the topic but i cant see the solution about to read the sd card.

Tommorow im gonna try to install the update and hope to know more by tommorow evening

Yah, it's not very clear what solved the problem. The talk about the USB cable makes me wonder if they used an SD to USB adapter. Since I don't have a x50  unit, I didn't get deeply involved in that effort. Maybe you could PM nezfotnemom to get details.

  3. Hello,

Today i recieved a Here map update Europe 2016, now i want to read and copy the files to share but im not able to see whats on the sd card.

I guess it's not windows based so i try'd several linux tools to see whats on the sd, and again no luck.

Is there anybody who can tell me what to do with it so we can share it???

    Plz let me Know ASAP!!

Greetings and hope to here it soon :)

There's a thread where they cracked the 2016 Here update for the z150/x950 (US/Can) version. I suspect the same method will work for you too. Read through the entire thread since there were a few mis-steps early on.  Thanks for contributing.

  4. Appologize for my posts as this problem frustrated me alot, and thank you very much for helping me, my pioneer model is Avh-x8850bt , i put a password on it and i forgot what was my password, i will try to do your suggestion to see if i can open the screen, but as i saw it doesnt let me to do anything and constantly ask me to put password, i called to supplier ,they said they need to send it headoffice and i need to pull out whole unit and cost me $180 :(

OK, I hope that gets the face to open. AFA password recovery, I don't have any experience with the AVH units - which are very different than the old AVIC Z and X series. I see you've already found some threads in the NEX Series sub-forum. Hopefully you can find how to get the password.  Unfortunately that bunch of users seems to be less than helpful and some of them try to sell their help. If I ever had to pay one of those bandits, you can be sure I'd post the "secret" to keep others from being robbed.  This is supposed to be a helpful community, not a money making source.

Once you do get it solved, I recommend not setting a password. It is just a false sense of security and will not prevent someone from stealing your unit (they won't know it has a password)  Once they've got your unit,  they'll just come here and find how to hack it.

  5. Anyone know how I can get access to sd slot behind my screen while I lost my password and I can't open the screen?

First, you shouldn't spam your question all over this board. You've posted in so many threads and sub-forums,  I'm not even sure what unit you have.  Spamming won't get you help any sooner and could P.O. the people you want for help.

If it is a Z series (which hides the DVD and SD slots behind the screen), hold the eject button while turning on the ignition. Continue holding for about 5 seconds then release. The screen should open.

  6. Your wiring must be wrong. Do you have the headunit's installation manual? If not, see if you can find a copy online.

You didn't say what headunit you have. Pioneer units I am aware of don't have a "cam power" wire. So I can only guess about the purple wires. On mine, the violet/white wire is for the backup detection and typically is connected to a backup light.  It tells the headunit you are in reverse. Among other things, it triggers the display to show camera input (only in reverse). It sounds like your's is connected wrong. It has nothing to do with powering the camera. You have a blank screen while in forward gear because the camera has no power. But the headunit thinks you are in reverse. So that must be connected wrong. Pioneer units can also support a backup detection that is grounded rather than +12v. It is in the settings menu. Make sure your settings match how your backup detection is wired.

It sounds like the long video cable that came with your camera also has a red power wire inside the cable. Some cameras have this as a convenience so you don't have to pull another wire to power the camera. This is optional and allows you to power the camera from the headunit's switched +12v (also red) wire or some other switched source. Just splice the video cable's red lead to the switched +12v wire that powers the head unit. A side-benefit of this is the camera view can be accessed while driving since the camera is always powered when the hwadunit is ON. Another option is to power the camera directly from your backup light. Obviously, this only allows the camera to work when you are in reverse.   If you do this, don't connect anything at either end of the video cable's red wire.

The camera harness has an RCA video connector (usually yellow), red (+12v) and black (ground) wires. If you are powering the camera from the headunit - connect the red to +12v at the headunit end and the camera harness red at the camera end. Otherwise, connect the camera harness' red wire to the backup light (and ignore the video cable's (RCA) red wire at both ends). Connect the camera's black wire to a chassis ground point (any metal that is grounded to the frame).

  7. Ok, so would it be correct to point to the firmware being the issue? And if so how do I go back to older/default versions?

A simple way that might allow you to fall back is using TestMode (Not Hackmode).  Using File Maintenance check to see if there is a file called USER/PRG.FLG     if there is, delete it (it is just an empty file), If one doesn't exist, then we need to create one. Be careful not to delete anything else. In fact, it is a good idea to back-up everything under USER to SD before doing anything serious than deleting/adding PRG.FLG.

You may want to look for other posts with instructions - search for PRG.FLG.

The concept here is - the unit keeps two set of firmware: the current one and the previous one. They are stored in USER/PRG0 and PRG1. If /USER/PRG.FLG doesn't exist, the version in PRG0 gets run. Otherwise, PRG1 gets used.

Another option would be to install v6.0, but if you do that, it will be harder to go backwards (if it doesn't fix the problem), since the only two firmware versions on your unit will be 5.0 and 6.0.

  8. Tried battery disconnect but still no voice navigation or map re-routing when off course.

Double check your Voice setting in System Settings / Regional Settings. Also make sure in Volume Settings that voice guidance volume is not muted and adequate volume.

AFA route re-calculation, there may be some differences in this version. I'm still looking. Was your unit always trying to re-direct you back to the original route? I've had problems with that too. I usually end up canceling the route and re-setting the route manually.

The manual is very vague about this.

BTW, why didn't you go directly to 6.0 (2015)?

  9. So I updated the unit to 5.00 and now the unit doesn't give turn by turn voice navigation commands. Map shows direction but if I go of course it doesn't re-route, and when I get to my destination I finally get a command saying "You have arrived at your destination". Tried resetting with "mode" and "reverse track" button press but still no go.

Whenever weird things (of any kind) happen after an update, I recommend doing a hard reset by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

One reason for this is that the unit is always powered by the yellow wire (constant +12v).When you turn off your car's ignition/acc, you just trigger the unit to go to sleep.   Many settings are stored in volatile memory. When a major update is installed, physical locations of the various setting values may change.

A hard reset forces these settings to be initialized from non-volatile memory (NAND). Some setting may be lost, so you will need to reset some things.

Anyway, this is always the better way than starting to do any serious hacking or debugging.

  10. after the euro maps upgrade does not start stuck on " insert an SD card ".when insert sd card write "sd incorrect " what is wrong

Sounds like your update failed and left your unit in an unstable condition. It wants to continue the update, but there is apparently something wrong with the files you are using. I can't help with that, but it is possible to abort the update so you can use the unit.

You need to get into TestMode. If you don't have it, download SuperTestModeKey.Zip and unzip it.

Put the testmode.key file on a SD, put that in the head unit and it should boot to testmode. go into file maintenance, and remove the file:
      USER\SYSTEM\Download\StartKnd.log

This will kick the unit out of upgrade mode, and should restart into regular mode on next power up (remember to remove the TestMode SD).

Warning: neven neven never ever install Condi's Hackmode. If you do - you're on your own.
  11. Hi. I buy this radio from ebay .when i turn on .in settings only two icons active . Av settings and av sound . Whats wrong ?

Did you install the parking brake detection? If the head-unit doesn't detect the parking brake is set, some of the settings menus and NAV functions are disabled.

You might want to research the parking brake bypass hack. Try grounding the parking brake wire. That might work temporarily.

If you need one, get the installation manual from Pioneer's web site.

  12. dude, I feel your pain. here is my story. I have 2 vehicles..... Cadillac CTS, z140BT, 30 gig ipod video and with this setup....the ipod will restart where I left off. my 2nd vehicle is a mazda B3000, NEX-4200, 30 gb ipod video and no matter what combination of cables, it will not restart where I left off. Very frustrating. I am not a country fan, but I like Aaron Lewis. I am so sick of the first song on his new CD........Sinner. I am about to remove that CD from my ipod.

Have you tried switching  the ipods between vehicles to see if the issue followed the ipod?

  13. Ron, do I need any updates before going straight to 6.0?  I saw that Pioneer has a unit update to 4.6, right now I am at 4.0.  I am just wanting to make sure I dont have to update in a step process.

You can go directly to 6.0. However, if you use an iPhone with Lightning cable, install 4.6 first. It adds this support and AFAIK can't be added after installing 6.0. Pioneer really messed-up this Lightning support rollout.

Also, you should go to the Navigation.com web page (I linked above) and download the instructions and manual. There's some useful info there about the changes.

  14. Can anyone please inform me with the correct steps to get my x940bt, version 4.00 to the newest latest and greatest maps/bt/updates??  Thanks

2015 (v6.0) is the latest and greatest. If you're willing to put forth some effort, you can get it at no cost by reading the thread 2015-avic-z120-map-update/  Hint - see post #84 to bypass the old info.

    Otherwise:

  15. Sorry for the late reply, been busy lately. Current FW is 4.0. I restored the HU to factory settings but the contacts and the favorite POIs on the map is still there. Is there anyway to reset this HU like it was newly bought? Even the bluetooth device that was registered before me was still there after the restore. Haven't tried to disconnect power, I'll try to do it later

AFA resetting, the manual lists several "levels" of reset. It shows exactly what get's reset for each level. However I was referring to the method I mentioned (disconnect the battery). That clears the volatile memory, where many system specific settings are stored.  It does not clear everything back to the out-of-the-box state.

  16. Pioneer avic z150bh when i plug in my USB sandisk crushed guide 64 gig it won't read it at all the USB button on the screen is grey ish and when I go to source settings and click sd/USB settings it won't let me click on either and it says full

    I don't have any experience with Z150, but I'll take a shot.

    • I assume you mean Sandisk Cruiser Glide? Regardless, if it is formatted exFat, it won't work. Must be Fat16 or Fat32, with only one partition.
    • Make sure your App Connection setting is not set to iPhone. If it is - the unit may expect an iPhone to be connected to the USB via Lightning. (just a hunch - no experience).
    • Are you sure the USB cable is correctly plugged-in to the Z150?

Also know that AVICs have a limit of 5000 files and 300 folders for USB devices.

  17. You gave virtually no useful information. What model unit? Was it used? What version f/w? What kind of USB device? How was it formatted? What size? How many files stored? How many folders?

The user's manual has a "Media Compatibility Chart"  in the back, stating limitations for each type of media.

BTW, was it an SD card or some USB device.

I bought and installed the radio today it won't read the USB anyone may know why it says USB full SD card full

  18. What are the pros and cons of doing the parking brake bypass? Will it allow me to use some of the features of my HU? I noticed even AppRadio is not working, the unit detects the iPhone but everytime I launch AppRadio on my iPhone it doesn't mirror link to the HU

As a safety feature Pioneer disables some functionality of the head unit if the parking/hand brake is not set. It's so the driver won't get distracted while the car is moving. I don't know all the functions but among them are things that require lots of key/screen manipulation. For example entering a destination into the NAV. Apparently it never occurred to them that a passenger could do it.  However, I doubt that AppRadio is one of those functions.

The only con to wiring the bypass would be getting into an accident while distracted, and having the insurance company using that as an excuse not to cover your loss.

You didn't say whether you tried the reset I suggested. Also, what version of the firmware are you now running? Remeber, when you installed 5.1 (presumably for iPhone Lightning support) - that installed into the other PRGn directory. So it would need to be re-installed.

I don't use App Radio, but I think it may require a wired interface (Lightning). There is also a setting (something like "App Connection") that need to be set. If you didn' get a user's manual with the car, you can download one from Pioneer's web site.

  19. My Z140BH is now alive lol! I used the supertestmode key and added prg file and it worked. One thing I noticed though, some of the settings are greyed out. I'll attach the photo I took later when I get back to my computer

    attachicon.gifIMG_1845.jpg

So that forced the unit to start using the previous firmware. Depending on what the previous owner had installed, it could be the original firmware.

First thing you should be aware of - some settings and functions of these units only work if the parking brake is set.  I don't know which functions are disabled since I did the parking brake bypass from the day I got the unit. So this may or may not be your issue.

If that isn't the issue, I'd reset the unit to factory default by disconnecting all power for a few minutes. Simplest way is to disconnect the car's battery.

Once you get the System Settings to work, find out what version of the firmware you are running.

You said you tried to install 5.1 - but that is just a patch to add Apple Lightning support and will only work if your unit is running 5.0.

  20. Came across this old thread so I thought I'd add some new info. I never did implement any "fix" based on the ideas here. I just lived with the problem (rebooting). However, last year I needed a new battery and I upgraded from the 700 CCA OEM battery to an AGM 900 CCA one from Autozone. After that, the problem went away. I now leave my Z110-BT ON when pumping gas or other similarly brief shutdowns.  So, in my case, the real issue was the voltage drop on the always-on +12V when starting the car. Just needed a more robust battery.

  21.

I removed the battery cable, and prepared to place .. and when you try to run the stereo (F930BT) asking me to enter the password .. and I can not do that because all the buttons are gray, and buttons are disabled (not working).

    Help me please

The parking brake must be on.
