Didn't know there was 2015 maps or where to get the patch. And I've been trying to figure out how to zoom. I looked in the manual but all I saw was something about turning on the option to automatically zoom out.
They call it "map scale" in the manual. See image below. Setting to .1 mile will give the most detail but may be too close-in for you. Try pressing '-' to gradually zoom out enough for your needs.
There's threads on the 2015 US/Can map update in both the Z and X series forums. The same update works for both. They are long threads and much obsolete info is at the beginning. You might want to start at the end and work backwards.

Let me start by say hi, first post etcetera etcetera. Recently bought this unit off craigslist since I just got a new car and am too poor to few a new one. I've been into car audio since the 90s, my last car had an 80prs in it running active, but this is my first touchscreen nav setup.
Anyway I used the how toos on here to update the thing with 5.00 and the 2013 maps. My issue is the only roads showing are interstates and freeways near me. I know its not the gps because it has a strong signal and at the bottom of the display it reads the name of the streets I drive down. I just can't see them. I tested turn by turn by entering an address and they popped up to show my destination, but I didn't actually follow it just canceled. In the morning I'll set it for my drive to work & see what happens. It'd just be nice to see the road I'm on when I'm driving around without needing directions.
I figured this was the best place to ask something so specific, anyone have any advice?
Zoom-in more. Is there a reason you didn't install the 2015 maps (the latest for the Z and X series).

The only way that makes sense is if your wiring is totally messed-up. Start with checking the Mute wire, backup wire, and parking brake wire. Was this a used unit? The previous owner may have moved the mute wire to do the Parking Brake Bypass.
Do you have steering-wheel controls connected?
BTW, please stop spamming the same post. Your questions won't get answered any quicker.

TestMode is much safer and easier to use than Hackmode - which installs and modifies your system. Sometimes the install goes awry, leaving your unit unable to boot.
To get into TestMode on most X and Z series units, download this file supertestmode.zip to a PC, unzip it, put TestMode.key on a FAT32 formatted SD, and insert it in your unit.
IFAIK this file doesn't work on x950 & z150, but if it does, or someone knows one that works - please post to this thread.

Does anyone know the password to open the "HACKMODE.KEY" file? The "AV.EXE" file password is avic411 but then it askes me for the HACKMODE password and its not the same. Btw, Im on a Mac if that matters.
No, I don't. Save yourself much grief = don't install Hackmode. It can brick your unit. Use Testmode instead. Once you get into File Maintenance, its the same process.
To get into TestMode on most X series units (except x950), download this file supertestmode.zip to a PC, unzip it, put TestMode.key on a FAT32 formatted SD, and insert it in your unit.

Got the Testmode going, entered User option to find PRG0 and PRG1, didn't see a /USER/PRG.FLG file so where do I go from here?
Create one on your PC, then copy it to the SD. Make sure it is named PRG.FLG
Then in TestMode, select it on SD, then navigate to /USER and paste it.
BTW, this may or may not fix your problem. But it won't hurt anything and is easily reversible.

Thanks for your help RonS... Finally had a little time to get back to this but unfortunately I haven't been able to get into Testmode to access those files, using hold on home, then previous, forward, previous, forward, previous, forward. As of now if I input a destination it will briefly indicate an eta, as well as green route outline, but no short-distance indicator screen, or voice directives. Coincidentally I've since installed an X920-BT in another vehicle that works perfectly so now I'm even more stumped!
That's not how you get into TestMode on a X930-BT. Download this file supertestmode.zip to a PC, unzip it, put TestMode.key on a FAT32 formatted SD, and insert it in your unit.

There's not enough information here to begin to diagnose this. My first thought is that this is a signal issue. That could be caused by an antenna issue, or a sensitivity setting in the headunit. If it isn't one or the other, its a hardware problem in the headunit. That usually means sending it to a technician.
If you've got a manual, look at the FM tuner section. If don't have a manual, download one from Pioneer.
First question I have is what station frequency does it keep returning to? Is it 87.9 or 107.9? (assuming a US unit). That might indicate that the tuner could not find a frequency which it could lock onto. Those are the end points of this tuner's FM frequencies.
On the FM screen there is a signal strength indicator for the tuned station. Of course, if it is tuned to a non-existing station, there will be a poor (or none) signal strength. Unfortunately the manual doesn't show how to interpret this indicator, but the screen-shot does show what it should look like with a good signal.
On the bottom-left corner of the FM screen, touch the gears icon (Settings), then touch [Local] then touch [On]. Make note of the sensitivity level (1-4), then set it to 1. The higher the number the more filtering the tuner does (eliminating weak stations). Level 4 eliminates all but very strong stations.
Exit out of settings and try tuning to a station manually. Does it work better? If no change (or even only a little better), go back into the settings/Local and turn if Off. The try tuning again. If no (or only slight) improvement, I'd next look at your antenna. You may need to remove the headunit to inspect the wiring.
It is possible the antenna connection is loose. If your antenna is in the window glass it is amplified and might be powered by the headunit (depending on how it was initially installed). The headunit's power wire (blue wire in the power harness) might of become disconnected. It is possible the installer used some other fused switched power source, So you'd need to check your wiring. It is also possible that the antenna's ground wire is loose. Or maybe the antenna is faulty. I don't know how to diagnose this. A stereo shop might have instruments to test this.
If none of the above fixes or significantly changes the symptoms, it is likely that your hardware tuner is malfunctioning. If you are technical enough to service the unit yourself, you likely wouldn't be here asking for help. So I'd recommend sending it for repair.

I followed these steps above and now my unit it stuck on the loading screen!
This is a long thread. Which instructions were you following? I hope you didn't install HackMode.
-
Could be several things. I almost never use my radio, so you might need to look-up in the manual. Sounds like the tuner is seeking a frequency lock. There is a setting that affects tuner sensitivity. It might be accessed through the gear (settings) icon on the bottom of the FM screen.
Do you get any stations while it is seeking? Any sound from the radio?
Can you manually tune? I don't mean presets - there is a manual tune up/down.
Also could be a problem with the antenna. Is yours amplified? Could be the power or coax wire unplugged.
Or your tuner could be shot.
Before tearing it out, try a hard reset (disconnect battery) or a factory reset. You'll loose several settings.

See posts 299 and 300. Password recoveryHello everyone,
A few days ago I seen a video that shows how to set up the x930bt and choose not to use a password on start-up. I recently moved my x930bt from my truck to my transit-connect work van which has a great security system with it, so I would like to remove my current password (which I setup and know, and use regularly). Can anyone tell me how I go about doing this? Thanks for stopping in.

I know this is an extremely old post but I figured I'd ask here rather than starting a brand new repeat thread. Does the auto eq on the pioneers care if a micro-bypass is wired or not? I'm about to install a 4200NEX and I'm wondering if I should wire in the bypass first or try the autoeq first and then add the bypass.
Auto-eq has nothing to do with the bypass. Where I was going before with my question (until he started jerking me off) was that many menu options are inaccessible (grayed-out) if the parking brake is not set. This would not apply if he had the parking brake bypassed.

It currently has 8.01 on it. I can't find a lot of information on why the files aren't recognized, or if they're even necessary once the update gets performed. But it seems like this is the most important part of the update since it's the only way to get it.
Yes, I believe it is necessary to support Lightning cables. uCom is the microcomputer software. I believe that would include low level drivers. However, as I said, I never manually updated my unit. After installing 6.0, I now have uCom v8.12. So I assume that the v6 update loaded it.
I'll let you decide whether that means it is safe to go ahead. Maybe someone else has some experience with this.
-
On the uCom Forced Write screen, what version does it show under uCom? Oddly, the instructions don't ever say to do anything other than check that version 8.05 is installed.
BTW, I have never been able to get forced write to read from an SD. But I don't use a Lightning cable for my old iTouch.

Hi Ron,
Yes the volume and track buttons do work.
I have the stereo apart for the 10th time. Just triple checking all soldering points. everything looks good and clean.
the dvd drive works when i supply power to the motor.
i can get the face open when my screw driver.
and i did download the file you send already. I can get into the menu but when i select the one for hard buttons, its just blank. no writing at all.
I didnt buy it from ebay, I got it from a pick and pull. $150 and I got the avic z110bt and all cables, Alpine flip down10'' monitor, 3 Jl audio amps and 2 alpine typr r subs. The car was just bought from auction and I was the first one there.
I'm not into it for alot of money it's just driving me crazy why half the unit works. even the touch screen works flawless!!
OK, so it looks like you have some hardware skills and equipment. I'm not much use with diagnosing hardware problems, but here is a Z110BT Service Manual that might help. http://avic411.com/files/Z110BTServiceManual.pdf

I have a Z140BH, installed a new map update, now the on screen controls for the ipod are gone!!!What can I do?
That happens occasionally. Standard fix is to do a hard boot by disconnecting all power for a few minutes. Easiest way is to disconnect the battery.
-
Just to verify, are you saying that those hard buttons are never working? Do any work? (Vol +/- or Trk < >) It sounds like a hardware problem. It has nothing to do with the parking brake bypass. You might ba able to get parts, but unless you have pretty good electronics skills, you'd need to send it for repairs.
Without the eject button working, you might not be able to run the diagnostics in TestMode. I've never tried it, but maybe you can run TestMode from a USB jump drive. In Testmode, there is a way to test the buttons.
To get into Testmode, download SUPERTESTMODE.ZIP, then unzip. Copy Testmode.key onto FAT32 formatted SD or USB device and insert/connect.
BTW, I think you mean Mode, not Menu.
If it was me, I'd demand my money back. If you bought off ebay, contest the sale unless it was listed 'as is'. -
looks like pair and impair, house addresses comming up, left side of street is pair and right side is impair
just a guess
For those that don't speak French, that would be even and odd. In English - pair and impair have totally different meanings.

Try setting the parking brake.Hi guys,
I just bought a used f950bt, it worked very well but I pressed the security key in the parameters which has the effect of blocking some of the functions. As I did not know how to remove this mode, I unplugged the battery to reset. But when I switched on I can not type the code because the keyboard is disconnected. Yes i am idiot
I installed the testmode but I do not know how to activate the keyboard. who can help me

I have a X930Bt and changed my battery and now I am locked out because I can't remember my password. I have entered everything but the kitchen sink. Any help you could give me would greatly be appreciated.
Do not install anything - especially Hackmode. You'll have a 50% chance of bricking your unit. Search for and download to your PC supertestmode.zip and extract testmode.key from the zip. Put that on your FAT32 SD and insert into the headunit.
This procedure erases any password in X and Z series headunits. The basic steps are:
- Put SD into HU
- Boot into Testmode
- Go to File Maintenance
- Navigate to USER\SYSTEM\SECURITY
- Delete PASSWORD.DAT
- Remove the SD
- Restart the unit
As I have noted in many posts, don't password protect your unit. It won't stop a thief and will just be a big PITA in the future.

Good evening,
I have a AVIC-920BT that i bricked a few years ago. I was trying to copy the boot file and i acidently pasted it over itself. When booting the unit, the screen says "Thers is no application software" but the backup camera still works. I can put it into test mode and see all the files but i will need a new file to copy on to the unit. Anyone have any ideas?
Several. What file did you clobber?
Have you tried switching to the reserve program directory? Does /USER/PRG.FLG exist? If so delete it. If not create it.
Have you tried installing the latest software (v6 2015 maps)?
-
Yes, I shorted black and light green wires together, because cannot enter any advanced menu. Still I think that problem is in the USER folder but cannot find any backup as I did with my previous unit (F90BT). Unfortunately the folder structure is not same with F920.
Have you tried installing the map upgrade (2015)? http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/82391-avic-f10f20f920f9210f9220bt-evrope-maps-update/

Heads-up!
The Navigation.com website now has the new 2017 maps for Z130BT, Z140BH, X930BT, X940BT and for earlier models Z110bt, Z120BT & X920BT. http://www.navigation.com
I suggest reading the installation instructions found on the above website before installing.
Note: I posted the same message in the X series forum and requested that they post any discussion on this update here. The F series guys (which use the same firmware but EU maps) usually are ahead of us on finding hacks, so keep an eye over there.
