  1. Sorry it took so long to get back on here. OK, I added them to my Album. Here's the link. Enjoy my friends. I'll post more as soon as I have a little more time to find the right backgrounds and alter them. http://avic411.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=34 Gerry
  2. you're right. it's one I got from one of the threads in here. like I said... these are a collection I gathered from various places. the reason I didn't want to post them is because they were sample images and when I altered them the copyrights where cut off. but I guess it's not that big of a deal. I'll send them to you shortly.
  3. This thread has compatible phone info in it. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... t=treo+680 Treo680 - Contacts: Full Transfer, one at a time - Calling: Full phone use Not sure what else you were looking for. You're lucky. I have a 650. That stupid phone has the worst bluetooth. I can't believe they made such a super geek smart phone and skimpped the bluetooth the way they did.
  4. I'll make some of both. I think you're right... the squeezing will not effect the images I have already. You know... I wish you could change the "theme" color of the unit so you could match it to more customized background pictures. I could alter these to look really sweet if you could do that. I looked through the manual and didn't find anything that looked like it could change the theme. I don't want to mess with the whole unlocking the HDD unless I have to. How cool would it be to have some of those backgrouds that blended into the Icons and such like mapping on web pages?
  5. Thanks, I'll just reduce the size of the ones I already made. Heck, maybe I'll put the both on there and try them all out to see which ones look best. In my limited experience, it's always proved best to use the proper resolution settings when rendering images. I'll holler back when I get them on there and tested. thanks again.
  6. There are lots of threads on this subject, but none that specifically address this particular question that I could find. In the manual for the Z1 the recommended settings for the background picture size are "2 592 x 1 944 pixels"... I have noticed that others seem to be using just 592 x 944 pixels. After searching through the sight and seeing other people's work, I noticed that they are using a resolution setting of 1000 x 480 on the ones I have found. It seems that most if not all of those were for the D or N series though. I don't recall which one. My question is will those r
  7. Does anyone know of a harness that bypasses the amp for my aftermarket amp? I'm trying to splice as few wires as possible here. You're all correct. This should be an easy install. I'm a radar technician for crying out loud. But that's someone else's money I'm working with there... Anyway, I'm still toying with it while I wait for the harnesses to come in. I may give it one more try before I drop it off at the installers. My main concern is getting the sensors all hooked up right. I know it's not completely necessary, but why not do it right the first time? I'm reasonably confide
  8. Wow, you guys are quick. ok, i'm out with the fam right now, but keep the suggestions comming. what I'm installing into... a toyota tundra T3 limited edition. yes it does have the amp under the radio. found that by accident. I was told it would be behind the driver passenger seat. I'll be back in a few hours. We're at thw drive in.
  9. So, after the astronomical price of this stereo... I was trying to save everywhere I could. Note to self. Saving money by trying to install things I have no idea how to do is not the smartest way to go. I pulled my stock stereo out... Checked the connections only to find I needed a different harness. After more research I found this to be a 79 dollar harness because Toyota installed some crappy little amp in my Truck. So, I start looking into bypassing the amp and installing the profile amp I bought. This is getting more in depth than I had intended... Oh Wait... the GPS n

    refurbs?

I found this site. Still don't know about buying a refurbished... but if you're trying to save a buck... http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio ... ctID=17949 I don't know how legit they are. but the reviews for the site seem to go both ways. though they do have a few good reviews. So, I guess it's up to you my friend.
  11. Be sure and do a good search if you're looking on the internet for the best deals. I tried 2 sites (not going to spam names... but you can email me and ask if you like) that I believe TRIED to scam me. Luckily I have a good bank and got my payment back in decent time. Here's the point. If the site offeres a too good to be true price... most of the time it is... too good to be true. If the site does not accept cards and offers cash only purchasing... come on now. Who doesn't take cards these days? If the site has no reviews anywhere on the net and does not have a profile with the BBB.
  12. First I wanted to say that those background posted in here so far are awesome. I love the scenic backgrounds. Rightnow I'm deployed (for around another month) and my AVIC Z-1 is on the way to my house as we speak. I can't wait to get home and start messing with it. I'm sure I'll try my hand at making some custom backgrounds as well. In the mean time I have lots of scenic weather shots and such from here in Iraq. Some are really nice shots. If you'd like a few to play around with Send me an email at gerry.schiller@usmc.mil Oh, and this was my first post. I'm a bit of a tec
