  1. I finally got a postcard in the mail that said my rebate was not valid because I failed to include the original serial number. I kept copies of everything and verified I had written the serial number in the boxes provided, so I called. The guy I spoke with told me the same thing and made it sound like I was supposed to cut out the serial number and send that too! When I pressed him on it, he said he would put my on hold and check with his supervisor. He didn't put me on hold, I could still hear back ground noise...he was quiet for about 5 seconds and then came back and said he could process it
  2. You don't HAVE to cut the connector or damage anything. You can open the connector and then can unlock the tab that holds the pin in place and move the wire over. As I recall, mine took me about 5 minutes to do -- and no cutting or damage to anything, or orderign extra wires. Details are in the thread at the top of the section for the bypass. See here: http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/27275-x920bt-bypass-confirmed/page__view__findpost__p__214099 Adam
  3. Thanks again for the reply. I have tapped wires before, but I still believe if I can get it in a harness through a connector without tapping a wire I am better off -- but moot point now anyway. Adam
  4. Thanks for the reply. I ended up installing without doing anything with the reverse wire, but if I do go to install a camera, I will investigate. As far as I know the option didn't come until 2008. I was interested because I wanted to avoid tapping into any factory wires if possible, and I was able to add to my adapter harness to include a VSS wire and SWC wire, so I wanted to do the same for reverse if I was going to use it. Adam
  5. Hello, I am getting ready to install my X920BT, so I have been looking into wiring info. I found a pin-out online and it showed Pin 20 as "Reverse Park Aid" or something similar. These trucks didn't have an option for any type of backup cameras, though they do have the reverse sensors (not part of the radio). I haven't opened the dash yet to even see if there is a wire there, but wondering if this is a spot that could be tapped into for reverse wire on the new unit? Adam
  6. That was my general feeling on it, but because of what I read in the manual I wasn't sure. Is this pretty much the general concensus? Adam
  7. Looking through the install info for the X920BT I just purchased, I saw a note that caught my eye. I do not intend to install a reverse camera, but there is a note in the install docs that basically says it is also used to help the GPS tell if you are moving forward or backward and help with positioning. I hadn't planned to connect this wire, but now I'm wondering about it. Portable GPS systems I have used have not had issues with this. Is it a big deal and worth hooking up? Or is it considered overkill by the majority here? Thoughts? Adam
  8. Ok, I think I understand now. I was thinking it was two seperate connectors to the back of the unit itself. Now I see the iPod cable will plug into that cable, which has a special plug for the back of the unit -- extending the length even further. Thanks -- makes perfect sense now! Adam
  9. Thanks for the reply. I understand the unit comes with a cable -- are you saying that the 3.5mm (?) connector on the CD-IU50V is longer than the USB so that when I plug into the USB cable that comes with the unit they will be the same length? (both longer than the original cable) Is that right? Adam
  10. Hello, After much research and indecision, I have just purchased an X-920BT through Amazon (thanks to finding the info here!), and I am rounding out all of my accessories for the install when it gets here. I want to do it right and have ability for video through an iPod. Anyplace I see a recommendation for an iPod cable, I see the CD-IU50V mentioned. I have no problem with this, prefer OEM parts, don't mind paying the premium. My concern is about the length. I understand it is about 1.5' long. I'm not sure if this will be long enough. I see Pioneer also has cables such as the CD-IU200V
