WOW! You guys are so smart and awesome. Too bad you couldn't have stepped in and responded to eveyrbody's questions on 3 different threads worth of people trying to figure it out!!!!!!!!!! Shame!! Guess what!!?!?! I had about 10 different *install* manuals around when I was putting this in. My *usermanual* is gone. It's lost. I half wonder if there ever was one because I don't recall ever seeing it. Still have every other manual though, so it's a wonder how that one could be lost!! I haven't resolved everything, but after an e-mail from Pioneer CS today, I've had a mini "break through" tonight with the SD card. They said if you only have jpeg images on the card, that it would not be recognized on the main screen or put an icon on the left side for you. Some may already know this, but if you want to put on your own splash screen, you have to go to the main home screen (with the 3 large icons). At the bottom right corner is the settings button we all like to play with. Press that and go to "System Settings". In here press "Flash Screen". In there, you

UPDATE: I just got this in my e-mail from Pioneer CS. I have not tried this yet and am not around the vehicle so I DON'T KNOW YET if this will work. But sounds promising. I do have videos on the card but they may not be the right format so it may not show up. This is interesting.... "Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc. You state that you have jpegs images on the sd card. Is that the only content on the SD card? If the answer is yes then in the av source option the sd card source will never appear.The SD source only appears if there is either music or video files

I should mention that if the card is in and I push eject, the eject option does come up on the screen and the SD button on screen is NOT grayed out. You can select it but that is the extent to which it recognizes an SD card. I plan on writing Pioneer about this problem soon because this is not an isolated incident.

My unit doesn't read my SD card either. It's formatted properly and I have the correct files. But it never shows up as an option on the left side. By the number of posts here about it, it looks like it is already a common problem. Fingers crossed that it's a software problem and not a hardware because i don't want to have to take it back out.

Same problem here. I installed mine about a month ago. Just recently tried using the SD slot once I saw there was a firmware upgrade. Decided I better try it out using the Sandisk mini-SD out of my phone. The unit doesn't recognize my card at all. I called Pioneer CS. They said the card has to be formatted to FAT16 or FAT32. So I checked that last night. It is formatted to FAT32. I called them back today. They said the Avic only recognizes JPEG,BMAP, MP3, .wav files, etc...
