  1. So excited about it Phil, can I send you money via paypal for all the help? One final question, is there any way to change the LED color of the buttons? Mine are like a hot white. Can I change them to green to match the dsah more?
  2. ^^^ I used the testmode v2.3 and it loaded right into windows. Went very quickly. However, I couldn't find any application in there to copy over the files nor could I figure out how to get to "my computer" or "my flash drive" or "SD storage"... aye aye aye

  4. Yes there is an empty green box, OKAY in the top left, and an X in the top right.. I couldn't seem to press the X though I was trying to do it wiht my finger... maybe I need a stylus to get it?
  5. BTW you have been so helpful thank you so much. Can't wait to get this working
  6. So I put in the SD card, started it with test mode, saw it copying, and then had this pop up... wasn't able to hit the X in the top right corner.. maybe I wasn't pushing hard enough or maybe I need a stylus? Does that look right thus far?
  7. This brings me to two other questions which I have as I am customizing the unit 1. Can I change the button colors? Right now, they are like a hot white/blue color. Can I make them green to match the buttons in the truck? 2. How can I update the maps? I know I updated the whole unit by following the instructions online... also did the bluetooth update. What about the igo program? I have iGo Primo in my BMW and LOVE it. Is there any way to put Primo onto the F500? PS I Can paypal you money for your time and help
  8. Any chance we could connect over the phone real quick later today or this week?

  9. After doing "backup" and putting it on my computer, would you suggest I: 1. Put the modified file into the SD card folder "backup" and then copy the entire "backup" to my flash drive or 2. Put the modified file on the sd card and then paste ONLY THAT FILE into the corresponding folder within My Flash Drive Option 1 I overwrite everything in My Flash Drive Option 2 I overwrite only the one file in My Flash Drive Hope this question makes sense.
  10. Hope you saw that I asked another slew of questions. Trying to make sure I do this right as I imagine it's not the type of thing I can do several times if I initially botch it.

  11. Wow, Phil, you have been SO helpful. I really can't thank you enough for the help thus far. A few things : 1. I found testmode's application file (testmode.zip). Downloaded it and can easily follow these instructions So I have the SD card with nothing but those testmode folders, put it in the unit, and start it. That will then put me into Windows CE where I can modify this. Am I right so far? 2. Assuming the above, I will now be in a Windows environment where I can modify things as needed. At this point, I go into the My Flash Drive (units hard drive) and will co
  12. This is about to sound SUPER NOOB but could you elaborate on the following. - Test mode software and the "new version of avic software". What "new version of avic software" are you referring to? If I remove the SD CARD from the AVIC unit and plug it into my computer, will I be able to simply modify a program that will already be on there or is there other "new version of software" i first need to download? Also, the test mode software... where is that found? - Once I have "new version of software" and Test mode software, I just turn it off and on.. .easy enough - Now it will bo
  13. So, I just installed an AVIC-F500BT in my dash and was smart enough to mount it using an SD extension cable so that I can remove the SD card. However, I can't get to the back of the unit to press to reset button so I hope this isn't needed. I found out, only after installing, about the parking brake software issue. I mounted the wire to a ground so it tricked it mechanically but, to trick the software, I understand I need to follow these steps: I updated the unit with the latest software and so here is my question. TO CHANGE THE SOFTWARE ON THE AVIC TO ALLOW FOR VIDEO WHILE MOV
  14. I am going to be installing my F-500BT into the dash of my truck and want to ensure before I do so that the navigation and software is as up to date as possible. The unit is still new in box so it's untouched. Can you guys please help me with the update and the easiest way to do so.. pallleaseeee
  15. So can you have the back up camera input via this brown color and then ALSO have video/audio fed through the aux input? I am interested in running apple composite cables in via the aux port so I can play ipod/iphone videos on the screen... if I'm not mistaken, the AVIC won't accept iphone video signals correct? And can I run any camera off ebay or does it have to be the pioneer specific unit like the ND-BC4?
  16. I am going to be installing my AVIC-F500BT rather soon and had a question about wiring. For the back up camera, does that go in via the aux input or is there another way in which it is connected? Any help would be much appreciated as the installation guide is total junk.
  17. Thank you so much!!! Well, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the unit. Now I have to figure out the above and then decide the best way to have it mounted in the dash. I may just end up going to an audio shop and have them build an enclosure that closely resembles the factory dash.
  18. Wow, thank you so much for the reply To follow on a couple: - For updating to 2.06, can you provide a very basic idea how this is done. Link saying "here idiot" would be fine - Is installing 8.3 hard? I have a dynavin in the bmw with igo primo and igo 8.3... I'm somewhat computer savvy but another "here stupid" would be great - Bluetooth and back up is a must for me... dont' have bluetooth in car already and it's a huge a$$ truck and I"m used to small sporty cars:) Lastly, iPhone4 should work fine with this right?
  19. Question on the above... So, if I get a 500 and plug it into my factory stereo via aux input, it will play ipod through the stereo when the factory stereo is set on aux... ok great. Now, for the nav and bluetooth phone, will that sound need to come out the factory head unit as well or is it possible to have that sound come out through the internal speaker on the 500? Ideally, I would want to be able to have gps and bluetooth come from the 500 and ipod sound to go through aux in and through the head unit... would this work?
  20. What's the best place to currently get a 500 from?
  21. I am considering buying this unit. Is this still something I can get? I basically want to purchase an AVIC F500 and then upgrade it to the latest greatest for the US
  22. Question... so to build upon the above... So here's what I'm thinking... So the Pioneer unit has a headphone out jack http://images.sonicelectronix.com/images/103680/big/avicf500bt.jpg So, I could simply run a 3.5mm headphone jack to RCA cables like these http://www.kc-kwan.com/online/pics/o_pc_audio_rca_cable_01.jpg Into a box sold by ICD. This box taps into the existing CD Changer and allows for an aux input in place of your cd changer. It looks like such http://www.incaripod.com/images/res/2007_11_21_03_17_31_AUX_EG_600_433.jpg We could plug the RCA cables into that
