problem with the wiring, or camera simply died ?
-
There's really not that much that can go wrong with GPS, it either works or it doesn't, assuming reception of sufficient satelites (minimum of 3, preferably more) No callibration is involved. However, the unit also uses Vss and map matching. Assuming Vss is correctly calibrated, accuracy also depends on the accuracy of the used maps....
-
also check on the unit that the Vss is actually working as it should....
-
it was/is the same with the z1/z2/z3, worked well with some phones, not so great with others....
-
maybe it's the phone that's the problem.....

Convert Radio Frequencies From US to EU? PIONEER NEX SYSTEM
jwq replied to tinhca's topic in NEX Series
Pioneer Always has 2 versions of their units, one for the us market and another for the european. One reason is the difference in radio frequencies. In your case, you should probably have bought the european version : http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/25/109/281/AVH-X8600BT/page.html -
The unit is just out ?.......

GPS location slightly off - anyway to calibrate this?
jwq replied to stiggysaurus's topic in NEX Series
If you have the speedpulse (Vss) etc. hooked up (which you really should have ), the system will automatically calibrate over time using map matching.... -
could just be a defective GPS antenna...
-
Yes, speedpulse is same as Vss However, if the Vss is not connected, and/or whilst the unit has not completed calibration yet, the unit will use the GPS signal to calculate distance and speed. For info on how to check Vss and calibration, see manual pages 159 and 160 (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/AVIC-8000NEX_OperationManual030714.pdf ) The indicated speedpulse (manual page 160, item 4) should increase proportional to actual speed...... B.t.w., page 203 etc.explain why you should connect the Vss ...
-
It can still be the problem... At higher speeds, the processor has less time available to calculate the speed from the GPS data. Using speedpulse this is not a problem, as it involves hardly any calculation.
-
Do you have Vss connected ? That's one of the things it's usefull for. If you don't have Vss connected, speed and distance is calculated from the GPS positioning data, which is less accurate and takes time to process
-
The system will be slightly less responsive if the Vss/speed signal is not hooked up, and could lagg somewhat, as the GPS speed (and distance) is calculated by means of distance traveled over time, whilst the Vss is practically instantaneous

You can unlock it (the HD), but the music is in a proprietary format that you can't use anywhere else.....

Wonder what's cheaper to replace, new dash or new HU ....

Mostly to guide the wind over your head, to prevent wind blowing into the back of your neck....
-
Not as far as I know....
-
says that it's only for certain VW models though (together with display of climate controls), so integrates with the VW bus system.

As you already mentioned, the european version of the Z3 is the HD3bt-II. This has european maps, different radio tuner with RDS and RDS traffic info, different DVD region and different internal hardware. The maps (and firmware) for the Z3 and HD3bt cannot be exchanged....
-
As stated before, it's NOT possible to copy music directly to the harddisk, other then letting the Z rip the CD.... RE upgrading a Z1 to Z3, yes, that's just firmware. There's a howto here showing how, (see Hacks/Mods) or you can just buy a new harddisk from one of the forum members which will upgrade automatically. see f.i. garrettoomey
-
Sounds like an internal hardware problem with a memory IC
-
You need to unzip the file, then burn the resulting .ISO file to cd using the "burn image" option of f.i. Nero , so don't write the file directly.....
-
get the zip-file from garrettoomey: http://avic411.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=14384 unzip, which will get you the .iso file. Use the Nero option "burn image" to write the iso file to cd

The Z1/Z3 update(s) are not compatible with the HD1 / HD3 ....
