  1. The reason is probably that practically nobody bought the maps, everybody just copied them.....
  2. see http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/663-z1-z2-and-z3-hdd-faq/
  3. There is no difference, it's just a matter of software. Z1 and/or Z2 can be upgraded to Z3 via software update
  4. Though I don't agree with the Pioneer policy (I'm in the same position as you), I guess one of the reasons is that practically no one actually buys the updates, but majority of the people use pirated copies......
  5. sounds like a defective GPS antenna
  6. Maybe better chance in the z140 forum part ? http://avic411.com/index.php?/forum/45-z110btz120btz130btz140bhz150bh/

Only if you pay for it (it's a package together with the last version of the maps....), see http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/archive/CNDV-1100HD/page.html alternative is to either download it somewhere (you have to unlock your harddisk etc, instructions on this forum), or take the easy road and get it ready installed on a new harddisk, in that case it's just a matter of exchanging the harddrive, see f.i.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-MAP-UPGRADE-PIONEER-AVIC-HD1BT-AVIC-HD3BT-AND-AVIC-HD3-II-TOSHIBA-60gb-HDD-/301589285834?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item46381f4bca

hardware between the zx and hdx is diferent and not compatible, i.e. different radio tuners, presence of RDS and TMC, etc. difference between z1,2 and 3 is just software. Same for diference between the hd1, hd2 and hd2-II Z units are for USA market, HD units for European So z units come with USA maps, HD units with European maps (in general, there's also Australian and Russian HD units...)
  10. on the satellite status screen, are you receiving sufficient satellites ( 3, preferably more) ? On some cars with uv/heat blocking glass the glass has a thin metal covering, this glass also blocks gps signals.... As a test you could move the antenna outside, top facing upwards
  11. I'd first see if it works when you get it back, before running the risk of an update going wrong.....
  12. Speed limits are part of the map information, so if they are not correct, it's due to the fact that they are simply not correct in the map database. Guess you'll just have to wait for the next map update, and hope it's more accurate
  13. you can skip previous versions, and just go directly to the latest ...
  14. If your drive is dead, and you need a new one anyway, you might as wel buy a drive with the software pre-installed from f.i. garrettoomey on this forum....
  15. Maybe try asking the question again in the S1 part of the forum ?
  16. disconnect power to the unit for 10 minutes or so to reset all ? ...
  17. Sounds like it's spliced into a wrong signal.... It should simpy toggle between zero and 12 volts... Simple way is to connect it to reversing light.
  18. THink you'd be better off with the european HD series in stead of the Z series, probably closer to the japanese version. That's not saying either one will work mind....
