I have the exact same problem and have tried moving the antenna all over te place, I currently have it mounted on the roof, no better results. My VSS wire is fine and my Sat signal is OK, I usually get say 5 or 6 satellites but only 1 bar od strenght (green lines). Not sure if it's the unit or antenna.

OK had the exact same issues during my install on an 04 Cadillac Escalade, I ended up tapping an illumination wire off of the headlight switch on the far left side of the dashboard, I believe it was purple , but will have to check, this is the only wire in that cluster that will work for the dimming function, tapping this wire does not cause the dash lights to stay on etc. On the PAC SWI PS, the scanning presets until you open the door is an issue and drove me nuts, basically the retained accessory power (RAP) allows the radio to function with the car shutdown until the door is opened, the

Guys , just a heads up as I've been beating myself on this trying to troubleshoot and searching the forum etc. If you program the PAC steering wheel control module and everything works EXCEPT volume control, make sure that mini jack is plugged all the way in on the pioneer head unit. If not fully seated, it will suprisingly still control most functions, just not volume.. only took a few hours to figure that out. SL
