  1. This may seem like a small issue, but out here in Oregon, there are huge areas of nothing. So, light emitting from in front or to the side of you is really distracting. So, having some tunes and maybe a warning to potential turns is a huge plus. But if the screen won't stay off, it sucks. I've noticed that in order to dim the dang screen at night it would require you to turn up way back up during the day. The automatic dimming is really frustrating and ineffectual.
  2. I did update mine two months ago, I'll check and see if there is a newer Sw version.
  3. It was the Nav trip doing it. Funny, I'd have 82 miles before my next turn and it would still somehow trigger it. I'm bummed. When do you drive A LONG TIME? On a trip, and when do you want to use Nav? On a long trip. So, night time if you're tired of any extra light, you can't kill the display and use Nav and wait for audio to warn you of a turn.
  4. At night I want the screen off. So, I hold the button down, Disply Off shows, screen goes off. Perfect. Some seconds later (5-7) it effing turns back on! Anyone else?
  5. How about a flipping Mute button!
  6. I'm ready to move up. I have the gizmo that adapts the steering wheel control the 310, converter for VSS... It has been in my truck for 3 years. Is there anything I need to know if I want to upgrade? Thanks Guys! Tom

  9. I called back and talked with a tech named Rocky. A good guy probably over 35 y/o. FINALLY think that we're figuring the issue out. I believe their "hibernate"-like mode is the issue. It is normal for the unit to "wake-up" and go straight to the GPS screen when you turn on the unit every morning. BUT, we believe the issue is that it is bypassing some startup protocols like BT. Thus, ignoring that function. He will be moving this issue up the food-chain.... Definetly software.
  10. Is there a model that may cost more that will NOT have these issues? I don't want to spend $2000 !
  11. I don't know guys....I think there is definetly an issue here. My unit NEVER displays the splash screen unless you do the "SD Reset". As a result, the BT will not load my 3G pohone.... Is there something wrong in my "Car Toys" install that is not completely removing 12v from the unit and the unit never goes completely off? Or are we all just stupid and Pioneer is ignoring the existance of an issue with this model?> He tried to tell me first that my sw on my 3G must be the problem.....what a tool.

  13. Same blue tooth issue here too. BUT, try hitting the SD Eject button. Splash screen will show-up and after a 10 seconds or so, it will find my Iphone3G---all is well after that.
  14. I just installed mine too. Funny, I also never see the splash screen. My unit just starts up immediately from the moment my truck is started. I too have my ebrake wire grounded... As far as locking up, I have only had an issue with the BT locking in the "off" mode. Pushing the reset button and all is well. Of course the bummer is having to reset ALL the audio funtions. Next time I have a " freeze" I will try the "SD Eject" option.. But again, NO SPLASH SCREEN.....humm.
  15. Maybe you can get all the access to other needed connections....But why? The CanBus adaptor is idiot proof and doesn't hack into any factory wiring.... Just buy the adaptor. you DO get VSS, Power, Illumination dim, etc....ALL THROUGH the CanBus adaptor. Just get the correct one. There maybe like three different Chrysler adaptors. Just make sure yours is the CHY with 2006 CanBus. Tom

  17. I second the behind the glove-box location. The plastic piece is easy to remove...just go slow and look at it for a couple of minutes. It pops off. Tom
  18. I call that the "Evil conjurring Druid---in a park"!! LOL!!
  19. That specific reason is why I bought the older D2. I wanted to keep an eye on my boat.
  20. Dude, the darn info is sent to your AVIC VIA the CANBUS adaptor. It doesn't get any easier than that. Make sure you have the right "Peripheral" adaptor! I am only adding the following info so this guy will go away! CHYAH05 ------buy this one..... Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge CANBUS Add-a-Head Make(s): CHRYSLER The CHYAH05 is designed to allow the replacement of a factory radio with an aftermarket head-unit in select late model Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles. Provides a time saving professional head-unit installation while retaining full use of the factory amplifier and sp
  21. The trick to that is easy. Just hit the back key like normal, THEN hit your "Refresh" key. It will ALL come right back! Tom
  22. Yes, but the Canbus is the TRUCK not whatever system you have. As the other posts indicate, ALL trucks in 06 & 07 are CanBus. That's what I was trying to mention above about using the search. Honestly, if that kind of glaring obvious fact passed you buy, you might want to pay for someone to install it. Otherwise, it will probably be overwhelming. Like all the OTHER posts mentioned, just buy a box from Peripheral to do the connections. Because all the posts in the search function already tell you everything you need to know....... "He who looks shall find".
  23. Jesus! It astounds me at how little people do to research issues on this board.... Have you ever tried the search function? Say, maybe, "Dodge Ram"? The topic has been spoken of at least three times in last month or so...Do yourself a favor and get used to researching at least 5 minutes b/f you ask a well-beat-to-death-topic... Batman is too nice....
  24. Thanks Guys.... I too had the same question....that manual must have been written for 4th graders....What ever happened to a flow chart???
  25. Before the AVICS were ever around, I was putting in fold down monitors and hooking up 4 sequential cameras in Horse trailers. The easiest way to do this is like this. If you have more than two cameras, it gets kinda complicated--but not impossible. If you have two cams, just use a toggled 12v line (A or that will power either camera INDEPENDANTLY. That way, you can choose to see the video from either and whenever. (truck or all the cams from trailer) If you want more than those two cam's, then you need a video sequential box. (Basically it takes in up to four cams and outputs on
