Will it work with the .wav format on DVD's or only CD's?

Just got done installing my AVIC-Z1. I've put in a burned DVD MP3 and a CD MP3 in the head unit, plays them fine but won't record any to the HDD. I've tried the auto, manual, and single options. What format and media do the Z's need to record songs to the HDD? Thanks for the help.

I just got a Z1 off ebay in like new shape for $414 shipped. I think that I got a pretty good deal on it though (no reserve). Searching eBay would probably be your best bet to get a good idea.
