do you have the switches that lets it know when the screen is all the way out.

Ihave the same problem, although I can get the discs to eject if i slide the white switch in the cd slot over while its trying to eject. if i dont do that, it always says "mechanism error" and wont eject all the way. Any help would be appreciated.
