  1. After using the new skin/mod for a couple of weeks now, I think I've managed to figure out most of the options. One option that I've been looking for(and may well not exist) is on the voice guidance. Everytime the GPS triggers new voice instructions eg. "turn left", before the actual instruction is said, there is a "ding!" sound like a bell. I don't remember it being in the unmodded version but that could be due to bad memory.... Is there anyway to turn this "ding" sound off? I've gone through all the menus but cant find it an option which seems to address it.
  2. Just a quick thanks here. I finally got some time to fool around with my unit last weekend, so got the latest maps(R17) and the skin(Update2b) and whacked both on. Have to say that this is miles better than the Pioneer stock standard!! Even my gf(who doesn't touch my head unit too much other than to put in the address on the GPS) just playing around with it said that it seemed substantially more featured than what I had there before, and I would have to agree.
  3. Ah, good to hear that worked. It was worrying me too when it first happened to me, luckily I found some obscure reference to the video stopping hidden somewhere on this forum, and the fix they said was to press play again. Still not sure why some videos do it and others don't.
  4. Ah I had this same problem with my 5th gen. What I found was that, its not that it wasn't able to play the video or whatever intermittently, it would just start playing and pause/stop immediately. Try this, next time it happens(ie. no video comes up when you play it from the menu), press play on the knob(I think its either Up and Right), and see what happens? It always works for me to actually start the video playing.
  5. Supposedly the new iphone firmware(v4.0) fixes this issue, as has been reported in other threads in this forum. Out of luck though if you have an older ipod which still comes up with blurry album art, as I doubt Apple will be releasing firmware updates for long superseded models. My iPod gen5.5 80gb has "slightly" blurry art, while my gf's year old nano comes out super sharp.
  6. when you say you did a new cable install, what cable did you use? I originally had the Pioneer cable installed, had issues with right channel audio disappearing after some time...Replaced with another Pioneer cable(from Pioneer warranty) and worked for awhile, then problem started re-occuring. Replaced the Pioneer cable with a genuine cable from Apple(6 months ago) and problem has not occurred since.
  7. Sorry mate, not doubting, was just verifying where you got OS4.0 from. If it fixes it, great However, doesn't really fix my current situation where I'm connecting an older Ipod Video 5.5(80gig) to the unit and get semi-blurry artwork, as I'm assuming they're not going to be releasing firmware fixes for that anytime soon
  8. You have IPhone OS 4.0 already?? I thought they just had a sneak preview of the features, but wasn't aware they released it already...I just went to apple site and it still says its "upcoming OS 4.0"
  9. I was having the same problem intermittently....I swapped the pioneer cable for an apple cable from apple store, and have not had the problem since... I even tried a new cable that Pioneer sent first, still had problem
  10. I've recently experienced this as well...tried it with other microphones and no luck with any of them. I think the microphone socket on the unit is FUBAR. The microphones work fine on other electronic appliances. Going to send it in to get it looked at.
  11. yeah, that would be the simpler way, considered that but decided to switch the video signal rather than power instead because of possible bootup time issues with the camera...ie. if the camera takes a while to turn on, I don't want to wait for it. Also, the 2 RCA to 1 RCA adapter does work as well when only one camera is on, but when there's two constantly on, then it won't work. Figured it would be fun to design and build the circuit anyway, with my crappy electronics skillz
  12. I'm actually working on a little circuit to enable me to do this, I wanted to be able to have "modes" selectable by a switch in which different camera will be on, etc.... hopefully I can get it working soon and I can detail it here. Notes on the circuit....... 4 different systems to be controlled by a single circuit, with 3 different modes(Normal, Rear Mode, Front Mode). 4 systems are: 1) Rear Parking sensors 2) Front parking sensors 3) Rear camera 4) Front camera Inputs to circuit a) Car reverse signal(triggered when car is put into reverse gear), 12v signal Front camera
  13. Can't remember off the top of my head whether the red wire from the HU is the constant or switched power, but if it is the constant power, then that might not be a good idea, because it means that your camera will be switched on 24/7 even while the car isn't running, which will drain the battery. Better to connect it to the Switched power(or IGNITION wire, same thing) so that the camera is only powered when car is turned on.
  14. I got mine on Friday as well. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet, I wanted to test the modded v2 version first and then load V3 on top of it to see the difference
  15. yeah i agree with that assessment. Whoever told you that you couldn't have both doesn't know what they're doing with regards to installs. True, what they did was probably the easiest option since they don't have to route 12v switched power all the way to the camera and just tap off the reverse light, but thats just lazy to say can't have it both ways. Basically, if they wire up the power to the camera to the 12v switched power(make sure not to the 12v permanent power, as this will drain the battery), then the camera is on whenever the car is on, so the HU can then always switch to that
