  1. OK, I will try that and get back with you tomorrow.
  2. Umm.... well, I'm not sure. I have a Z1->Z3 and use the ND-BT1 with an iP4 and have had no problems. Try setting the pairing to start from the phone, not the device.
  3. Try going to a place where you are confident of the location, like an intersection (please chose a secluded street because you will be here for about 3 minutes). Then go into the settings and try to edit your position. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly how to do it, I'd have to go check it and post the instructions later, but if you just fumble through your menus I guarante that you will find the feature that allows you to "edit your current position". Try to do this and adjust it to exactly where you are at the intersection. See if this helps, hopefully this is all you need
  4. Also, one more thing. Your user's manual is your best friend. I know it looks intimidating, it's pretty big, I must admit. (That's what she said... sorry, couldn't help myself) However, most of your questions can be answered by looking them up in the manual. If nothing else, Pioneer makes VERY thorough users manuals.
  5. OK, I know you have had these questions for a while, so I'll try to answer them best I can, but you probably already have the answers. The CD-RB10 allows you to hook up an audio source via RCA cables to your AUX IN port. The CD-RB20 allows you to do the same thing, however, it also allows you to daisy chain another piece of hardware via the IP bus where the CD-RB10 will not. The CD-RB20 also seems to have it's own power supply, so you would need to consider that in your wiring scheme, as you would have to splice additional wires in. If you are planning on adding XM, then you will need to go
  6. Currently I also have an iP4 via BT and I use the remote. I never thought to try the screen to dial, so I will try that, but I usually use the voice commands because Tennessee is a hands free state. I wonder what the problem could be? Should I call Pioneer? I wish I knew someone else with a Z1 upgraded to a Z3. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. If more people would please chime in, I'd like to know if it specific to my unit or something else. I'll record a video of it on my iP and post it to YouTube and link it here so you can see what I'm doing and tell me if I'm doing s
  7. Tried that Garret. Do you have a Bluetooth phone hooked up? Try making a call when you are viewing the map. This really doesn't happen to you too? I'm using your image. It has to be software driven, because it never happened when I was using the Z1 with the original OS. Doesn't matter wether I have a route plugged in or not.
  8. Let me thrown my $0.02 worth. You can certainly try to save some money and get a drive from someone on eBay *CLAIMING* that their drive is suitable, but really isn't Garret uses automotve grade drives which are important because they are tested against vibration and have a much higher temperature range tolerance. They are NOT I repeat ***NOT*** the same drives. Just because they are the same physical size, doesn't make them the same. As for the 80GB, you will never be able to use it. If you are big into numbers, then you should go waste your money on eBay and stop asking questions, if yo
  9. But you can put the map on the main display and use your other display to show your other content. Just use the dual zone feature in your manual.
  10. My Z1 has dual zone. Your best resource here is the user's manual. It will explain it and how to set it up.
  11. So no one has seen this nor has any suggestions/comments?
  12. I recently updated my Z1 to a Z3 and have the following issue: Whenever I use the voice command unit to dial a number, either a favorite (1-5) or out of my phone book, it puts a crosshairs on my current location on the map, then won't move. My position updates, and I can see my arrow move off the screen but the screen stays stationary, as if marking where I made my call from. I have to hit the "map" button in order to get the map to refresh and return to normal. This never occured on my Z1. Is this a glitch/"feature" of the Z3 software or another issue? Is there some setting that I'm
  13. Well, it's really weird, because it started working again mysteriously. It found exactly where I was and now shows 10/12 satellite connections. I was actually just about to pull the unit out and check the connection, but I'm gonna leave it alone until it does it again, or I have to pull it out for another reason. Thx for the suggestion tho and I will check that next time.
  14. Unfortunately, your problem is with XM, not the AVIC. The XM Traffic option is a service provided by XM that sends traffic information to your satellite reciever and displays the traffic information on your "XM Traffic Enabled" unit. IMHO, the XM Traffic coverage SUX!!! Mostly because I have never been in a city that has offered it, so it's basically an extra feature for me. I'm not sure why they never really expanded on this, but my guess is that it just wasn't economically feasable to devolop XM Traffic for more citites when not many of the current navigation systems support it. Perhaps
  15. I'm not sure that more can be said than the previous 20 pages of positive posts, but I will add my kudos because he (Garret) deserves all the praise he has gotten. I paid him late on one day and was promply emailed a tracking number and receipt that evening. Three days later (Sat, Sun, Holiday) I got my drive, well packaged and VERY protected. Here is what you need to know, from a computer technician's perspective (mine), to be reassured that Garret is not only a professional, but really knows his stuff. I recieved my drive packaged in a box, with packing peanuts inside, wrapped in bubb
  16. I have this problem sometimes as well. I have narrowed it down to the parking brake wire. I was not getting a good ground on the parking brake wire and it was confusing the AVIC. There are a CRAP TON of wires behind your unit, sometimes, the connections get loose and need to be tightened or just moved into a position where the harness has a little more room to "breathe". Once your parking brake wire activates the lockout, it cannot be cleared until the unit is reset, that is why it would work for a while for you after you reset it (it did for me as well), but then I would hit a bump in the
  17. I am having the same problem with my Z1. But instead of what you are experiencing, I am getting a message on my hardware screen that says, "NOK" after the satellite section, with a message that states that there is a problem with my antenna. I am going to buy a new antenna and see of that helps, I would recommend you do the same, an aftermarket, non-Pioneer model is going for about $10 on eBay.
  18. To add, and not to sound like a jerk, did you check to see that you installed your "brain" unit properly? If you installed it backwards, i.e. the -> (arrow) pointing the wrong way, it may show your orientation improperly on your navigation screen. Make sure you have good satellite links, the unit should try to self-correct your orientation if it senses you moving in a particular direction, unless you have the brain unit installed backwards, then it will just think you are going in reverse.
  19. What happens when you remove the update CD? What is the boot sequence then? I wanna say that I've heard somewhere before that you will get that message sometimes but upon reboot without the CD in, it's fine. Also, have you tried to download and burn the update on a different CD or manually choosing a slower write speed? Don't forget that when you burn a CD, you can have the burning program test it to make sure it burned properly, though it takes longer, you will get a better burn.
  20. I'm looking at the Pioneer website and the GEX-P10HD is only compatible with the following units: FH-P800BT, FH-P8000BT, DEH-P700BT, DEH-P7000BT With the additional note: "External Control" capable with other Pioneer IP-Bus headunits, a/v receivers and navigation systems, with some limitations of display and control. Please review Owner's Manual(s) for more details. My question to you is, what does the Owner's Manual for the Z2 say about HD radio? I wasn't aware that the "Z"s were HD ready. This could explain the problem perhaps? Matt
  21. Hey everyone, I've done a quick search, but didn't come up with anything on the first couple of pages. I've seen this before I think, but it may be a good time to renew the discussion. I just got a new iPhone 3G. No problems pairing, etc, however, when I make a call now, it seems that the person I'm calling just can't hear me anymore. I found that if you hit the volume rocker when a call is connected it changed the BT volume, but I've got it all the way up and people still can't hear me. It works fine with my old phone, which was a Cingular 8525 PDA phone, but the iPhone is very qu
  22. OK guys. First off... along with everyone else, I want to express my sincere gratitude for all the effort, personal sacrifice, and general question flogging that those who have planned and supported this upgrade have endured. <3 Now for my experience, which was reletively painless, but a few lessons learned that I wanted to share with everyone. I bought the Toshiba MK4019GAX (seems to be synonymous with the MK4026GAX) based on everyone's recommendation of 40GB being the max size, the 16MB cache and 5400RPM speed. Disabling the security was a breeze, but I went about it a different
  23. I'm beginning to think that at this point, the files no longer exist on any server. Has anyone been able to sucessfully download this file in the past week? If so, PM me on how you did it. I'm pretty much stuck paying someone $100 for an unknown hard drive of unknown quality.
  24. Zeke. I did give it a try, but I have NO idea how to use this program. I added alt.binaries.test to the group list... it seems to have downloaded something, but when I put "AVIC" in the find line, I get no files listed at all. Can you give me a quick how-to for finding this file? Thanks
  25. OK, I got the login information from my server, but SuperNZB is giving me an error 430: no such article. What does that mean? I was able to open the NZB, I can see all the files it wants to download, but it won't download them. What am I doing wrong? I want to have this stuff downloaded PRIOR to buying a new hard drive. (Don't want the put the expensive cart before the horse)
