  1. Hi all, Is it possible to copy the default background images off of the D3 NAV DVD??? If so, anybody know where they are located at on teh NAV DVD and what the file names are??? I would like to do so and edit them in Photoshop and use them as custom backgrounds of my own... Thanks, Mark
  2. I would like to modify some of the built in backgrounds and then load them as custom backgrounds... Anybody know if you can copy the background images off of the NAV DVD and then open them up in Photoshop or something like that??? If so, do you know where they are located on the NAV DVD??? Thanks, Mark
  3. Thank you very much for the answer... Mark
  4. And, I know we are in the age of iPods and XM and all that, but I think I am going to hook up a CD changer to mine as well... Which is why I posted this, http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5344... I have my iPod for all my MP3s and videos and then the CD changer for all my disks... Only time I should have to take my NAV disk out is if I am using a DVD video... And, I will probably use my iPod for that anyway... Good luck, Mark
  5. Thanks... So when you use the arrows to go from disk to disk, does the changer automatically start trying to load the next disk when you hit the arrow key??? I can't imagine this is very good if the changer tries to load 5 different disks when you just want to go from disk 1 to disk 6... Or, does it wait a couple seconds till you have stopped pushing the arrow keys??? Mark
  6. Okay... That makes sense... Thanks!!! Last question (I hope): So when you use the arrows to go rom disk to disk, does the changer automatically start trying to load the next disk when you hit the arrow key??? I can't imagine this is very good if the changer tries to load 5 different disks when you just want to go from disk 1 to disk 6... Or, does it wait a couple seconds till you have stopped pushing the arrow keys??? Thanks again, Mark
  7. Anybody use either the Pioneer 6-disk or 12-disk changer with their Z1/Z2 or D-series NAV units??? I am thinking of getting the 12-disk when I either buy a Z2 or D3... Specifically, I was interested to know how browsing 6 or 12 disks is accomplished via the touchscreen... Anybody have any photos of the M-CD screen??? Also, does anybody have any reviews/comments on the Pioneer CD changers in general??? Quality, build, etc... Thanks, Mark
  8. jguy, So you have to manually go from disk to disk to disk to go to a particular disk you want to listen to??? Or, do you have arrows to "scroll" through the list of disks and then press on a specific disk button??? It would be awesome if you could take a picture of that particular screen(s)... Thanks for all your insight, Mark
  9. Yes, I plan on getting either the Pioneer 6-disk or 12-disk IP-Bus changer... Thanks, Mark

    D2 vs D3

You can go to www.pioneerelectronics.com and do a compare between the two units... You can also download the manuals for both units and see what the differences are... WAY too many to just list out... Good luck, Mark
  11. Hi all, Well, I am about to place my order with Crutchfield for the D3 and I am going to get either the 6-disk or 12-disk changer with the order... Typically, with standard head units you press one of the 6 buttons to jump to that particular disk in the changer... Questions are: 1) How does Pioneer handle this with 12-disk changers??? 2) And, how does this interface with the D3 (or any touchscreen nav unit)??? Do I have 12 buttons??? Or, a scrolling panel??? Or, something else??? Any info is always appreciated!!! Thanks, Mark
  12. Yeah... It was quite the anti-climactic and under-whelming experience... I was glad I actually got to see the physical unit and at least play with SOME of the features, hands-on... Even if they totally matched the Crutchfield price (which I doubt they really could with the no tax and all that) I would be weary to buy it from them simply due to the poor support... Mark
  13. Was at the local strip mall over the weekend for odd and ends and figured I would stop into Ultimate Electronics just to see if MAYBE they had the D3 to play with... They did, cool!!! Well, I started to play around with it and it seemed VERY "crippled": Couldn't change backgrounds Couldn't go into demo mode Couldn't get to pretty much any of the menu settings I asked the guy what the deal was... He said they are not allowed to put the DVD into the slot since someone could steal it... Okay, that was a reasonable answer, I asked, could you go get it... No, he said... And, prett
  14. I don't know if this tells you what you need, but this is all I was able to find... Good luck, Mark Bluetooth Compatibility Guide.pdf
  15. Try this: http://www.sminntech.com/techai.html Good luck, Mark
  16. Okay, not to totally get off topic here, but I am a college professor and I gave my class instructions to create a folder and name it a certain name... I had a student who you could tell was just totally lost... I went over to help them and they told me that they did not know how to create a folder nor name it... In today's day and age, in my opinion, it is completely unacceptable for a collage-aged person to not know how to create or name a folder on a computer... I also had a different student not know what I meant by copy and paste a piece of text... But, that is a different s
  17. I was thinking of putting it behind/below the rear view mirror... That way the drive and the passenger could theoretically talk if desired... Anybody have suggestions on where to place the microphone???
  18. I understand... Thanks for the response... I wish one of my local stores had one on display... I know a friend of mine has some other portable NAV unit (not Pioneer) and it literally just says "Please Return to Original Route" or something lame like that... If you are lost, how the heck are you suppose to do that??? I was just wondering if it guides you back to the original route, or if it does something lame like above... Thanks, Mark
  19. Excellent... That was just the info I was looking for... Thank you, Mark
  20. Thanks for the great response, that helps tremendously!!! One last question (I think): What happens when a call is coming in BEFORE you accept the call??? I know the screen displays a message, but if you are not looking at the screen, how do you know a call is coming in??? Does the actual phone still "ring"??? Does the NAV unit "ring"??? Is there any option to have an "audible" alert that a call is coming in before you actually answer it??? Thanks, Mark
  21. Hi all, Okay, I have downloaded the Bluetooth manual from Pioneer's web site and I am a bit confused on the actual functionality of the unit... 1) When I get a call, does it just change screens??? Or, does it lower volume and "ring"??? What exactly does it do to tell you there is an incoming call??? 2) When you do get an incoming call, what is displayed on the screen??? The phone number??? The caller info (if it is stored in your phone)??? 3) Does the system completely MUTE or does it simply lower the volume when using the phone features??? 4) Do I understand the manual cor
  22. There have been a lot of reviews and comments on the various aspects of the D3 which has been awesome... I have actually downloaded the D3 manuals from the Pioneer web site which I would highly suggest people do... They answer most of the questions... However, I personally have never even used an in-dash NAV unit before... Would someone be kind enough to provided a step-by-step review of the use of the NAV system??? I am particularly interested in: 1) What happens when you go off route??? Does the D3 just tell you to go back to the route??? Or, does it actually re-route you
  23. The way I read it is that you skip the entire chart since Chart #1 says "NA" or something like that... If you read down through the chart it doesn't even make sense looking at the Aviator's wires... So, again, I personally think you skip the chart completely... If you really need assurance, contact Ducatiboy, he used the PAC SWI-PS in his 03 Aviator... Good luck, Mark
  24. Soprano, I have an 03 Aviator and will be installing a D3 very shortly as well... Here is a page that gives details on building an "anti-pop" regulator: http://www.sminntech.com/techai.html This was originally done by Ducatiboy who is quite famous around here on AVIC411... He also has an 03 Aviator and uses this circuit in his vehicle as well... For instructions on how to hook up your PAC SWI-PS (which I will be using as well) go to this page on PAC's web site: http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogrammin ... les&ID=246 These are instructions for your specific vehicle.

    TV Tuner?

I guess that means the 6-disk DVD changer is NOT compatible as well, then... Bummer... Mark
