  1. Dante - I had this problem and couldn't find anyway to resolove it - everyone said the internal gyro was malfunctioning - so I sent it back to Pioneer under warranty. They seemed to agree as they replaced the gyro. The unit worked well for about a week and then the direction arrow started drifting again - not as badly as before and it seemed to recover after a while. Eventually, I found that if I went into the 3-D Calibration screen and reset everything (Distance, Speed Pulse, Learning Mode), it will fix itself and work OK for several weeks. So I am just resetting whenever the arrow s
  2. When is Pioneer going to release this upgrade?
  3. Oops - forgot to mention that it is the BOSE version. Maybe that's why everyone seems to be having trouble finding it.
  4. I can't find the VSS wire for the 2006 Miata I've taken it to several dealers and audio shops but none have been able tolocate it. Would really appreciate it if anyone can tell me where it is.

    Z2 Announced

$200. for a Z1 to Z2 upgrade is very reasonable, especially if the new maps are as good as they claim. So let's not talk about pirating the upgrade and discourage them from releasing it. The new maps cost Pioneer money, so it's only fair to pay an upgrade charge. I have a 2004 Touareg with the stock NAV system (terrible maps) and they released new maps a year later that were only a minor improvement. Cost was about $250.
  6. I've got two of the Pioneer backup cameras for sale - both new in original package - one was opened to read manual and see how it installs. Ordered Pioneer backup camera and Bluetooth adapter and Internet store sent two camers. Tried to fit one camera on 2006 Miata but no way to do so easily on that car. Ended up buying a camera in licence frame. Anyone interested in buying one, just email me with an offer.
  7. Don't forget to consider the backup camera - it only adds about $200. and is certainly worth it on a larger vehicle like the Touareg.
  8. Isn't there anyone who has had experience getting an AVIC-Z1 installed somewhere in the Tampa Bay area? Help please!
  9. Does anyone know an experienced installer for the AVIC-Z1 in the Tampa Bay area. I have a 2006 Mazda Miata with the AVIC-Z1, Sirrius, iPod and backup camera. I had it installed at Circuit City in Vermont a few months ago and I've had consistent problems with the navigation system. The directional arrow keeps drifting off course - eventually shows that the car is heading backwards. As this happens, the navigation functions gradually go beserk, trying to get you back on course. I'm in the Tampa Bay area for several months and I've taken it back to Circuit City here twice with no resoluti
  10. The direction arrow that shows the direction the car is pointing slowly drifts off course. This happens all the time - I reset the direction in the Settings menu and within five miles it is pointing 90 degrees to the actual direction. When this happens, the position on the map is still OK, but navigation to a destination goes screwy - it seems to be giving detour instructions to try to get the car pointed in the proper direction to get to the destination. I have occassionally seen the "vibration" warning in the Hardware screen but not often and the problem occurs even when this warning isn
  11. I've looked everywhere on the Pioneer site but can't find the CDDB upgrade. Their website must have been designed by the same programmer that did the iPod interface - totally non intuitive.
  12. The direction of my car on the map slowly changes - that is, instead of always showing the car heading down the road, it slowly rotates until it looks like it is moving sideways and eventually pointed backwards. When the car is shown moving in the proper direction, the navigation system calculates routes properly - but when the car is shown moving sideways, etc., the navigation directions are crazy. I know how to adjust the car direction with the Settings - Change Current Position screen - but the direction always starts to drift off line after a mile or two, Any suggestions?
  13. Don't know if this will help the iPod interface problem being discussed here, but I have been looking at sources for buying the iPod interface and came across the following in one of the user reviews on the Circuit City site: ------------------------------------------------------------ One if the main problems that i read about was how tough the pioneer interface is to navigate. Here is a timesaving trick to use your ipod to navigate through your library instead of manually scrolling thru your songs/albums on the head unit... . . The secret is to let your IPOD shut down b
