  1. Yes a familiar and annoying bug. mine did this constantly while traveling in CT for some reason. It got worse and worse. Bad: had to send the unit back to Pioneer to get fixed. took a month. That fixed it, never happened again. Sorry.
  2. Another vote here for NOT hooking up the VSS. My '05 Xterra had more problems with the VSS than without. Been running perfect now for 6 mos w/o the VSS.
  3. Should I then unplug the unit, allow it to sit a few minutes to power off and then disconnect the SP wire and just let the D3 do its thing for for a few 100 miles or so? Let me know.
  4. Itchy: I asked my dealer for the paperwork but he has "lost it" (ie: he threw it out). My problem was much worse than yours though, I had the dreaded Mother's Maiden name lockout screen. I am also going to be unplugging the VSS wire to determine if that is causing me problems as well (see drifting thread I posted in this forum). Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
  5. Necro: are you sure? When they originally installed it, there was no VSS wire hooked up and the nav was all over the place. Are you suggesting unplugging it and letting the Nav unit do its job without the speed pulse? I'm certainly willing to give that a try. How often does the D3 "capture" a GPS signal?
  6. OK then I will try to disconnect it and see what happens. Maybe there is something wrong with it. Anyone got any other brands of SPG they recommend?
  7. I wish I could send you the info, the installers sent everything back and they have the paperwork. Given that I'm still having problems with the unit, I'm tempted not to go back to them and what's more, they've probably thrown out the paperwork. Sorry, I will ask them if they kept anything though.
  8. Vehicle doesn't have a speed pulse wire factory installed. They didn't install a SPG when I first had the unit and it was horrible: the nav jumped sometimes 20 miles at a go, it froze, it was horrible. The SPG made it better but still not great. I will ask them to replace the SPG and see what happens.
  9. Sorry to hear this. I had the same problem for a while. I'd be driving along minding my own business in upstate CT or NY and all of a sudden I'd be smack in the middle of City Hall Park in NYC driving through City Hall. I got really fed up after 2 weeks of this and told the installers to fix it. Shortly after that, they reset it and it worked for 24 hours before going into the strange Mother's Maiden Name error. I ended up sending it back to Pioneer and they fixed it. It doesn't do the NYC thing anymore. Sorry to say you might have to send it back.
  10. OK well my last problem about the "Mother's Maiden Name" lockout screen was solved by sending the unit back to the factory to get fixed. Not good for a less-than-1-month-old unit, eh? But I'm still having 1 annoying issue. Not all the time, but enough to pi** me off. When I slow down to a stop at lights, intersections, whatever- the red arrow keeps moving at EXACTLY 7.6 MPH. How do I know that? I go to the Vehicle Dynamics page and it says so. Every single time, 7.6 MPH. Crawling along when I should be stopped. I have 2005 Nissan Xterra that doesn't have a "speed sense" wire. The insta
  11. Well Pioneer said to send it back to them. Looks like the whole unit got fried somehow. Oh well, without tuner, ipod and GPS for about 2-3 weeks is going to SUCK.
  12. Yep pass the bong my way This unit has done weird stuff since I got it and this is just the latest. I think I got a bad one from the factory. I'm hoping there is some sort of hidden reset feature so that I don't have to send this unit back to Pioneer and be without music and nav for weeks. this sucks
  13. OK all, searched the forums as best as I could but nothing helpful has come up. Here's hoping you guys can help me out here. Had my D3 for about 2.5 months now. '05 Xterra (so I had to figure out the hard way there was no speed sensor wire) and it worked fine until yesterday. The unit started to reboot itself (by reboot I mean that I was driving and the screen went black and then came back up with the Pioneer logo). It did this at least 4-5 times and then it did the "Reading from Disk" routine (and it had to reboot itself as well) and all kinds of other stuff that's not in the manual. Even
