  1. Cool Zero. But you know I would kinda like more info about this other then the PR sentence saying it does and file formats. Does any know how the interface looks, any limitation on files (size or quantity), how directory layout is, etc.
  2. Someone a little bitter? That or a Kenwood rep.
  3. This implies that it would.
  4. Although that would be 'cool', that would totally be a useless waste of money... I agree. The only advantage I can see is if you had several movies on BR, you need to get them on a dvd now. But if I had a choice between BR and non-BR I would go with the much cheaper non-BR. Ya, I was wondering about that as well. Probably taking advantage of that upgraded processor to do better compression. Sorry it made me laugh. Nice find. Little note, they listed MSRP high.
  5. They are probably going to keep the HW the same or very similar for the next few years. So thinking like that they probably want to make sure the HW is more capable then the current features not just at par. Especially if they add a few thing on the next few SW releases.
  6. Optional MSN Direct tuner for use with AVIC-Z110BT. MSRP $110.00 and the picture on Pioneer's webpage kinda looks like a prototype?!? The picture in the presentation looks more like a finished part. Kinda the generic hide away add on box. But they both look small.
  7. Ya I just noticed that "ND-MDT10 MSN Direct Tuner" is listed as an accessory for the AVIC-Z110BT. I thought $1,800.00 was the MSRP for the AVIC-Z(1-3). And pre-order is $1,599.99 at Crutchfield. Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT at Crutchfield Ya I meant that the MSRP at 1800 is nothing new.

  9. I am not sure, it seems like lots of things very similar things are coming out and more are probably just about to come out of R&D now. Actually flyboyindy's link is very similar to what we were going to build. We were going to have a few more features but they are probably working on them now. Ya my plan was to go to one of the many company's that make OBDII scanners and just get a contract to buy the raw HW and integrate their SW. Basically out source.
  10. The Z/N/D use completely different hardware/software, so no. No XM Weather, only MSN Direct. So will the new units MSN Direct features have the "Doppler Weather Maps" or just the Weather? Actually which features will it have and not have? List from msndirect.com Smart Traffic Reports, Weather, Gas Prices, Send to GPS, Local Events, Movie Times, News Headlines, Stock Quotes, Flight Status, Doppler Weather Maps
  11. This is what I thought until I read this on the pdf linked on the first post. So it sound to me like we can just add our own HDD or equivalent. And if that is true that is a step forward. Just shock mount a TB drive and have a huge amount of media storage and not be limited by the units drive. It sound like it will be easier to put media on and off a separate unit. Also if you kill the drive or something the system / OS will not be lost as well. As long as the USB feature works well I will give it a +1!
  12. So is that suppose to be cover art in the bottom right above iPod?
  13. - Quoted from Re: 5 Days until the Pioneer Road Show! So it sound like they dropped the media storage all together but put control of it on us. Actually a good idea. For those who want a huge library just mount a HDD. And messing with it will not affect the OS. "Compatible portable devices with a USB connection, such as hard drives and flash memory drives, can be linked through the available USB cable that is connected to the rear of the unit. The system also accepts compatible SD memory cards through the slot located behind the motorized front panel." - 2009 Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT Navig
  14. If you can record the presentation that would probably answer a bulk of everyone's questions but I would imagine they don't want you doing that.
  15. Humm it looks like the front buttons are flush to the trim or they are just lights now. But it looks slick.
  16. So does that mean that there is no storage for media at all. So this new z unit will basically be a x/f with a large screen.
  17. Wow. I was actually very serious about building something like this about 2 years ago as a product. I had a few presentations made up, 2 EE and one CS on board too. We were going to make a master CPU box with several features and satellite boxes that took in analog, digital or OBDII data. Then there was going to be an output box (video/audio) that talked to a navi/head unit. When I moved the idea kind of died out.
  18. Not I. (you may want to make this a poll.)

Um. I am not sure what you are asking. Are you having a problem with the DVD? Could you describe your problem more clearly. Also it would be nice if this was in "Problems/Troubleshooting: Z-Series" instead of "Hacks/Mods: Z-Series".
  20. Ya, I doubt that is a live shot. Looks like the map is overlaid on a pro-photo. Basically what they do for adds and promo stuff. Not only will 3D buildings and objects take lots of data it would also require lots of labor costs for artists to create it. It is done for cool buildings here but not the bulk of things like office buildings and houses. For example check out google earth. The photorealistic buildings are for ones that the owners or locals want to show off and mostly in downtown areas. The gray i believe are just made from the computer looking at the satellite view.
  21. Yep, the US internet infrastructure is lagging other countries by quite a bit, especially for the average user. So I would be surprised to see anything comparable in terms of services. I would also look at the previous year released over there for a guide as for HW. In general I would assume they would want to fill out the chart they have on the product catalogs, the Z looks pretty blank. I would be surprised if many of those blanks are not added to get the Z up to par.
  22. This thread kinda answers your question. We are still speculating about its specs. Pioneer AVIC-Z3 is now disco - new model is AVICZ110BT
  23. I don't know about the BT in the part number (I would hope it does have BT internal) but that it is listed as a DivX certified product says to me there has to be some new HW. Someone here was saying the Z1-3's was not able to run the Dvix SW because of processor or other HW limitations. And it was listed under 720x576 on the Dvix page where the old spec on the screen is 480 x 234.
  24. Are these commercial CDs and DVDs? Or mostly burned (home made)? If burned try a few commercial disks from different production companies.
  25. If I remember correctly something like this was common when the firmware was released. Someone said they tried it about 60 times before it actually worked. I don't remember the fix but if you search far back the discussion should be there.
