  1. I got asked to do the white dot calibration once and it works fine after that. AV is on others. Only word thing is that the 8500 tries to scan the USB port for music each time I plug in the phone, so I use the car's own 12v for USB instead. Avh-x8500bhs, Samsung s4, Samsung mhl2 dongle (white) - pioneer mhl can't work directly with s4. I do have a 11-5 pin Samsung tip on the way.
  2. Got the 8500 through amazon and I now have appradio and iPhone 5 working. However, 2 issues I'm not sure if I can solve..... 1. DVD region recognizes only region 1. Can I get it switched to region 3? 2. Radio tuner uses US odd numbering system (94.9 95.1 95.3), which misses many Asian channels. Can I get it to tune to even and odd? (94.9 95.0 95.1)
  3. Billy, you need to get the digital AV enabled. Try unplugging the phone, disable Bluetooth and unplug mhl/av dongles and hit the tiny reset button with a pen tip on the bottom left. I didn't need to unplug anything behind the HU. Note that your camera and other settings might go to default, but that's how I got my digital av enabled.
  4. Thanks, this really solved the issue I had trying to get Digital AV on. For my car, when I turn ignition on, the power to the radio unit is still on, so I have to do more than just turning the ignition off. I found one other tip - the avh-x8500bhs has a reset button you can press with a pen. Same as doing a hard switch to the power.
